Of course I had to resort to Google Translate. But this is fun. These last few weeks are really helping me brush up my Bangla knowledge that has become so rusty with disuse. I love the word "sangeetshilpi" - I hadn't heard it before I heard Arunita use it in the school function where she says she is a very small "sangeetshilpi" and she really doesn't deserve all this adulation. I understood her meaning in the context of her speech, but just that I hadn't heard it before.

I now know that "shilpi" can mean artist in general, but so far I have always associated it with "sculptor." So "sangeetshilpi" sounds like a very unique and evocative metaphor to me.
