Oh! Hope you are feeling better now.Originally posted by: ssttuuttii
My teeth have always been uneven.. I never saw it as much of an issue. But I didn't realize, the uneven teeth create pressure on certain parts... which eventually caused a tiny part of my front tooth (bottom row) to break đ
It was not much noticeable.. especially with my already uneven teeth đ. But there was a slight pain whenever I bit into food. I thought it would subside in a couple of days but since that didn't happen, I decided to get it checked today.
Long story short - I had to get a teeth filling done And I've been recommended by the dentist to get my teeth aligned by using braces or something similar... I haven't yet decided on this.
Braces are a status symbol in young teenagers here. They compete with other to get braces. Very expensive, long and painful process. Still they want to get it because their friends or peers got it.
In your case, may be you need to get them.
Take care!
Cheers..
Happy Independence to you and everyone else on the forum.
Cheers..

I hated my braces đĄ
Happy Independence Day guys!!
PS - sometimes I miss notifications when I'm tagged because post a lot on the forums..
Especially on IPZN forum, where certain members like each and every post.. and we end up chit chatting a lot there đ
Perhaps having braces at a younger age would have helped. At 25, I feel like I'm past the age for braces.
More importantly... and what I told the dentist and my family as well... I love my teeth the way they're. Yes, they are a bit uneven... but beauty lies in these imperfections. I've personally never liked even teeth because it seems... well artificial... for the lack of a better word. Natural things aren't perfectly aligned and all... but this is just my take on life in general đ. Got quite philosophical that đ
Anyway, the dentist has proposed clean up every 6 months if I don't get braces... might go with that one. And I have started correcting my other habits which were being quite detrimental to my teeth- like gritting / clenching my teeth unknowingly for most of the day and also while sleeping. Never realized I was doing this and how harmful this could be for the teeth enamel (constant wearing down) đł
@Raji I'm surprised to know about braces being a status symbol there. Shows the differences in culture. No one here would get braces willingly.. as it kinda spoils their appearance - that's the outlook here and that's what the dentist thought was making me reluctant đ. I reassured him that looks aren't what I'm worried about... anyway with the mask on, who's going to see the braces đ¤Ł

I got mine when I was 18 and moving between india and Oman resulted in me having them on for 4 years đ¤˘
Anyways, if you donât have any other issue than itâs alright if you donât want to get them. Personally, itâs not about beauty alone.. if teeth arenât aligned well they almost always cause problems later on.
Post 30, women's bodies undergo changes and you need to take more care of your skin, hair and health in general. Otherwise post 45 years of age.. health becomes very bad. Itâs just what I have noticed in real life because when you have more responsibilities with home and kids.. it becomes harder to take care of oneself. Itâs especially true in India, we often see how poorly maintained women become after marriage which I believe is not right. We need to take care of ourselves too.
Braces donât look really bad but they are very painful

4 years is a very long time. The dentist told me I would need it for 1.5 years and that already sounded like long enough to me đ¤. There are no other teeth-related issues except the alignment... but you're right that it can cause problems later on.
I think I'll wait it out a bit.. perhaps go for a clean up after 6 months and see what's the status by then. If correcting my other habits and taking better care of my teeth helps, I might just continue with that.
I agree that women aren't that good at self-care... I personally suck at it. I only start taking things seriously after getting wake up calls such as these. Not a very good habit of course
