My aunt is a store manager at Speedway. Now franchise pays. Not her. She is struggling to find employees. She has to put in extra hours coz hey nobody wants to work. It all started after unemployment money was raised.

It is not a privileged view. I have worked for $6 an hour. Lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with 4 other girls. Have saved every dollar to pay my education loan. I know what it is to work your way up. I have done some real amount of struggle to reach where I am. I just find lot of people lazy.

My aunt who works at speedway says that the franchise pays nice. Gives lot of benefits. Yet help wanted adv has been going on for months.
My cousin has a motel. Front desk person needed. I see him putting out ad every week. He raises $2 an hour every week. Someone came, worked 3 weeks. Left and filed for an unemployment. I noticed this cry for workers started after the unemployment money started coming in. Up until then everything was fine.

So yeah. That’s my observation and my pov.

Well I sympathize with your aunt but if people aren’t willing to work after employment money is raised then either pay or working conditions is shitty to risk working in a pandemic ( It was intended to be a suggestion rather than a diss I apologize).

My husband’s friend has pizza store in PA.

A cousin has motel in Indiana.

Aunt works in IL.
a friend’s sister has restaurant in NJ.

Neighbor’s brother has bar in MD.

Now don’t tell me all of these people are not paying well and has shitty work conditions.

My uncle’s previous store manager did her time in rehab. She confessed that she had 7 kids to get the benefit of govt paying for kids. She did drugs from that money. 4 out of those 7 kids, she didn’t know where they were while she was in jail and later in rehab. Please don’t tell me that people don’t take advantage of these govt. schemes.

@bold Addiction and laziness are not the same thing . Here the mom was dealing with addiction. Even if she wasn’t getting benefits she would have gotten money other ways .

I looked unemployment amount per month in my state and that barely would be covering rent .
