Thank you for writing this. I felt the same but you really expressed it much better than I would have done. Nothing more to add from my side but still I would validate what you said in brief.
I guess I am the minority, but I absolutely loved the episode. Initially, I was also upset by the way that Virat stood in the corner instead of going directly to Sai. But, after thinking about it some more, it kind of makes sense to me. He knows how deeply he has hurt her, and Pulkit kept telling him that if she sees him, her condition may worsen. So, perhaps he wanted to wait to see her reaction before he went closer to her. Some are comparing his reaction to Sai's reaction when she came to see him in the hospital, but these are entirely different situations. It would not have made sense for Virat to try to touch Sai's hair or comfort her physically, because she would have rejected his touch, just like she did when he tried to grab her hand. I think he himself knew all of this... he knew how upset Sai was.
I completely agree that this entire situation has occurred due to his own behavior, and Sai is the only victim here. But, at this point, Virat himself is desperate and heartbroken. Not only is he entirely consumed by guilt and regret for his actions, but he now is also scared that Pulkit will take Sai away from him. In his mind, if Sai goes to Pulkit's house, then he will lose the opportunity to even redeem himself. So, he wants to make sure that he has the time and space to be able to make things right, but in his mind, that is only possible if Sai returns to CN.
I did not take Virat telling Sai that she should have listened to him and not run away as him blaming her for the accident nor avoiding responsibility. In fact, the first thing he told her was how sorry he was and how he is ashamed at what he has done. After that, he said that she should have not run away like that. To me, this came only from a place of concern. Was it illogical for him to think that they could have had a civil conversation after all of that went down? Of course. But, again, we have to consider his mental state too. He was quite literally in a blacked out state at the time, and he did not realize what he was doing. I'm not saying that this is okay, but I'm simply pointing out that to me, this did not seem off nor out of character.
When Virat says that he does not want to talk about all of this anymore, it's because he has no explanation. He knows and has fully accepted that what he has done is unjustifiable. And, I think that it was pretty evident to Sai how much he regretted his actions. I don't think that upon seeing him, she questioned that he regretted it. The point of the conversation was less him apologizing, and more both of them honestly talking about why they both reacted in the ways they did. To me, this was way more productive than what would have been if Virat just sat there crying and apologizing. Virat tried to make Sai understand that he never intended to call her characterless, but he became possessive over her. For the first time ever, he said that he wants his marriage to be real with his whole heart. And for the first time ever, Sai did not counter him. She said that what she wants should matter too... but never did she say that she doesn't want the same, because that is, in fact, all she wants. Furthermore, this was the first time that Sai told him that he is the closest, most important and respected person to her. The shock on his face made it clear how taken aback he was to hear those words, because he too, had been waiting for this moment. This is the closest that both of them have ever come to full transparency with each other.
Going back to Virat's dialogue of not wanting to speak about it anymore, I don't think it was because he was trying to wallow in his own self-pity. Similarly, I didn't take the dialogue he said to the doctor as self-victimization. I think Virat has made it pretty clear that he knows damn well he is responsible for this entire situation. But, to me, while before he was consumed by guilt and scared if Sai would survive or not, he is now consumed by guilt and scared that Sai won't be with him for him to redeem himself....
@bold: I don't think they are showing Virat to be spineless in any way. If anything, I think that this entire sequence has shown the progress that his character has made. Before, he always needed aai or Sunny or someone else to make him realize his mistake. This time, he knew he was wrong from the very moment he saw Sai's accident. He instantly regretted it. Of course, his anger issues remain the same and he needs serious therapy. But, the way in which he is able to self-analyze has changed in my opinion. Also, yes, he appeared weak in the episode. But, how else do you expect a man in his situation to behave? Sai is broken, but so is Virat. Again, not defending his actions nor his words, but he is a man deeply in pain too... and that does not mean that he does not acknowledge his mistake. To me, this is the same man who wrote Sai's name in the rice. But this man is now under very different circumstances...
P.S.- I completely agree that the direction of his seat/ it's proximity to Sai's bed was very off...
I felt writers really thought well before making Virat stand at the door and not approaching Sai ,touching her with affection or enquire her welfare. He simply can’t do that as he is aware of her critical condition that may worsen on seeing him as per Pulkit’s feedback. So he waited there but once she gained consciousness and started interacting he pooled up his courage to go and sit by her side.
His apology..may be he didn’t make it elaborate or heartwrentching as we are used to see in his previous endeavours mostly because like you( tptwi) said his main concern is to get her home so that he can redeem himself and do what he should in his own way. He is scared that he may not get the chance once if she decides to go with Pulkit.
Like you I also believe he is not selfvictimising himself. Not at all.
I agree we can not compare his behaviour with Sai’s when she visited him in the hospital. Both situations are quite different from each other. When Sai went to him after his accident, there is no baggage at all since both of them already interacted in Gadchiroli. Sai got to know his regret and repentance really well by then. So she is free to decide whether she can approach him, attend on him and even go with him to CN. Here Virat is not in that position. He is yet to make a move, seek her time and willingness to hear him and give him a chance to ask forgiveness and to redeem himself.
CVs really handled the scene with much maturity and understanding of Virat’s charecter sketch. Even Neil performed it differently if we compare this with his act after handholding scene or at Gadchiroli after throwing her out. That is why I admire Neil ..he is superb . He brought Virat live with all his flaws and merits. Kudos to him from my side
Again a big thanks for writing it so well dear.. I admit with laksh not being active of late, you are filling the void by means of your well scripted posts. Keep up your good work..

Thank you so much! I tried to get across my understanding to the best of my ability. I agree, Neil has been so amazing throughout this entire track. The way he is able to get so many emotions across is just outstanding.
I'm Pooja btw! What is your name? 😊

Looking forward to discussing with you more on the forum, Lakshmi ❤️
Sure Pooja. Love to share thoughts with you.
I didn't hate the epi. I liked it. But i really think thay the scene waa missing many small but still crucial things. The first thing Virat should have asked Sai even befire apologizing is - tum theek ho? Or something to that effect- kuch chahiya tumhe?, Bappa ka shukar hai tum thik ho....
Infact even when he was saying- but tumhe aise bhaagna nahi chahiye tha, i thought he would definitely follow it up with "agar tumhe kuch hojaata toh"
I think that Virat's position as he was sitting there just looked off. When a concerned , loving husband is sitting by his wifes side in the hospital, you automatically expect him to sit by her eye level, lean close to her, move in sync with her needs. Infact the pulkit-Sai scene incorporated all that. As shes talking and moves, when she winces, Pulkit reacts. I was hoping to get some of that in the Sairat scene.
But i do understand that virats fear is that this mistake will cost him Sai's presence in his home, in his room, in his life. So i understand that his priority is to convince her to come back home. So when he senses that they are getting in argument zone, he tries to shut if off saying "lets not talk about it, you just come back home to me, ok" . So that i can kinda understand. I even loved the part where he admits ki gussa haavi hogaya and i got possessive, and i want a regular marriage..but then again as he was leaving i wish he had just quietly gone. That statement to the doctor/nurse was not necessary. I know it came from a place of frustration n sadness at not being able to convince his wife and Sai not melting. But there was no need to have addressed it to the doctor. I wish it had been done differently. Maybe he could have addressed Sai only saying- abhi toh doctor hai toh main jaaraha hoon, but i will come back later/mein bahaar hi hoon/
Because when he walks away telling the doctor- ya anyway my wife does not want me to stay, but you take care of her - it makes her come across as the villain here who is so hearless that she cant see her husband's love. Thats not true though. Sai is 100% justified in being upset. This is not some fizool stubbornness. After what hes done she will need a little space to get over it and understand his pov. And she is physically also drained. Banged up. What did he think would happen...that one apology later everything would be resolved?! Like seriously?!
Infact if virat introspects, he will see that she identified his reaction as jalan, possessiveness, Nazar ka dhoka and instead of faulting that, her issue is with what he did afterwards. Because she knows exactly what its like to feel possessiveness, hurt when you feel like your partner is paying attention to another person or has someone else more important than you in their life . She felt it for the longest time with pp and she has also reacted in anger due to that but never crazy! If Virat had merely been "rude/curt" its understandable but this physical assault , acting like a possessed maniac- too much! I am hoping someday later when Sairat are officially Sairat, Sai will tell him - you reacted like a madman just for ajinkya," imagine how I felt on a daily basis seeing you n pp and knowing you loved her, having pp claiming haq on you, shaming me for being in your life even though I was your legally wedded wife and you didnt stop her for the longest time.....
I think the best part if epi is that Virat is finally seeing that not only is pp not moving on, has unrealistic expectations from him, bitter, but she is out to deliberately harm Sai now. She is out to actually do things to separate him n Sai. I dont think virat understood how far she'd go until birthday track n this incident....
I agree to this one.. somehow the dialogues did not convince me in general.. I had issues specifically with three dialogues from Virat that do not go with what Virat was shown to be facing outside the room...not even once he said are you fine...you need something... Basics!!!!
And ofcourse direction is somewhat always an issue for me...especially for Sairat scenes... I am not sure if it's just me....but it's an issue.
The episode worked because Neilesha were good as Sairat...But then they have to work on dialogues and direction.... It's not working for me..
First he asks her why were you running ? Then he is arguing over "maine characterless nahi kaha" Is bande ko kisi ki baat samajh aati hai ya his intelligence is all by chance ? She is continually telling him that he didn't have to verbalize it . She said the same during fight scene, but virat babu ki akal par kaunse patthar pade hain? He neither understands the gravity of what he did , nor is he feeling guilty. He will first put the blame on ajinkya then pankhi then sai.
