If despite this noise they go ahead show suicide track n show zillat scenes that cross the line, i will feel very letdown. It'll tell me they are not listening.

I think we should keep the pressure on no suicide track up for some more time so makers don't forget. Theres college track this werk, sais birthday next week n only then "suicide" in KD. So we should do this SM trend thing at same time at least one more time.

Neerja, you are right. They should handle this track with care, otherwise steer clear. My opinion here

We cant ask the creative team to change the story per se because these social issues could be the important part of the story sometimes. We cant expect the stories on TV to be clear of all these ugly issues. Coming to Ghum, they are already showing abuse to highest level! The problem comes HOW they show it. Suicide is wrong but suicide can be part of one's life journey, when the life throws an individual to a state where they feel despair. So if they show this, then they should

1. NOT glorify it. I mean they should not justify Sai is correct in taking that decision. They should show some conversation through Pulkit or Virat that what Sai did IS a mistake. She cant take her life whatsoever.

AND

2. They should explore/discuss the circumstances that pushed her. Virat and other family members should have an introspect, loud and clear that they ARE responsible for this. The story has to show it and the audience should know that you cant abuse someone to this extent. If they skip this then better not show the track at all.

OR

3. They can handle it in a better way by showing Sai is susceptible to depression. Bringing in the previous track where she did this after her father's death and convey that if an individual has this tendency how the husband and family should support her. I am not sure they will go this way. But in this way, they can show that bravest of brave people can succumb to depression and they NEED support.

If they are not doing any of this, better stay away from the track because Sai is the strongest female lead on the TV and she has the power to influence the crowd. So showing the track responsibly or not showing it all together are the options.

PS: meanwhile, lets trend the track on twitter. Thats all we can do and hope for something positive.

[/QUOTE.

My opinion is that since they already showed Sai attempt suicide once and didnt really explore her depression after losing her fatherz its best they avoid and show something else. They cant justify themes like suicide/depression. So they should just handle it differently.

I am so glad someone is speaking out on this. It's very easy to say it's just a show don't take it seriously but no, you don't understand the kind of influence visual media directly has on people. Various studies show that.

While I'm not against showing heartless in-laws which the reality of many indian households even today. What I'm against is glorifying and normalising such behaviour. Virat ignores literally anything his family does but doesn't hesitate to use force with sai or throw her out of the house. Plus the constant torture meted out on her by the entire family.

I get showcasing such a heinous family but WE NEED TO DRAW A LINE. Some scenes are so pathetic, so cruel that they actually disturb viewers. Virat denying Sai food was one of the most cruelest tracks of the show.

It makes sense when the villain does it but it's literally the man she's shown to be romantically involved. Star plus really need to wake and look at the content of its prime time shows today. Almost all of them are showing EMA, one way or the other. Literally worse shows than what was shown a decade ago.

If they are still going with the suicide track which looks like is going to happen with the way they have been showing Sai breakdown, hopefully they will follow atleast point 1 and 2 which will make some sense to the story line.

Its ok if Virat apologizes but I don't want this track to be again about Virat apologizing and everything and everyone else's mistakes are forgotten. Sai (about trying to commit suicide), family minus pakhi ( about how they treat Sai considering she doesn't have any family other than them) and Virat (how he needs to control his anger and not trust people blindly when they try to take advantage of his weakness and insecurity) should introspect where they all went wrong and how they can rectify in future.

I think they are going to follow Tamil version.

Apparently Ashwini badly scolds Virat - that he doesn't change because Sai keeps forgiving him. She also threatens to file a police complaint against the Chavans if Sai should die. Virat finally sees what Sai has been going through and decides to admit her in hostel. Somebody who has seen NM can verify.

I personally don't want it to be like this either. First of all, it will involve Virat suspecting her for some flimsy reason which itself is silly. Secondly, I find it alarming and disturbing to show that somebody(Sai) has to almost lose her life(either suicide or accident) to make another person (Virat) understand either her innocence or her abuse in CN.

Yes Ashwini scolds him badly and he decides to put her in hostel or send her away. But sai chooses otherwise.

I too hope they show the leading events convincingly, I know no events can justify this but atleast something solid before and after

This might be lil off track but still deals with the mental health aspect.

Crime patrol kind of a show once had this track. A family from lower income set up is killed An they try to get to the bottom of it.

The elder son was shouldering excess responsibility since a long time and with time, he was taken for granted An literally no one ever took him as anything other than a money making machine. He lost his marbles and ended up killing his own family. His mental health was deteriorating An no one ever noticed or bothered about that.

Point being a one hour episode showed that aspect very well...... Awareness was made with the story without over the top drama and screeching.

The point was put across very well..... Ghum should either take more efforts and show wat they want to do, but with logic and better dialogue. Not the usual blind translation that happens.

Better presentation with a clear message with do wonders to any track.

Stopping this mental harassment An possible suicide track will be great. But if not, then atleast show that with some sense of social responsibility.
