Totally loved your analysis. I always have problem with Mohit and Pulkit tbh, because may be they're team Sai/team Sairat. Like Mohit was shown spinless, jealous of Virat to some extent, like he was with Karishma when Karishma wanted to reveal how Virat the Raja beta of the house also married bhaag ke, they enjoyed how he was humiliated and even was a bit jealous because their reception was held grandly but not theirs. Standing for his wife is a different topic, I don't want to be attacked for that. But now he's the Best character/best husband because he's team Sai (not that I do have problem of him being in Team Sai).
Secondly, Pulkit whose counterpart was a father figure to FL, was sorry that she had to go through Only because of him, always supported her through thick and thin, and also wasn't a Nalla. That made expectations higher for him which he couldn't fulfillā both on writing and acting's part.
Baaki, I hate Kaku and Co. for different reasons, like they're criminals, abusers and Pakhi is someone who wants EMA so I guess I won't able to like them.
Bdw you missed Sonali
You are absolutely right about Mohit being jealous and insecure. I didn't hate him for that. I understood his frustration. I am okay with all shades of greyšas long as I can understand them. Later him turning all white despite not really changing I'm his marital aspects is a letdown to be honest.
(Even I don't have a problem if he's in team Sai š¤·)
About Pulkit, I had no idea about how Pulkit was in the original. So no expectations from my side. But still he managed to disappoint me.š
They have messed them to the extent that there's no return
Yeah. I totally forgot about herš¤£

Really nice post. I think it's because they fail to write characters who can at the same time be against the leads and still be positive. š That's why Ninad and Kaku who seemed have hearts look like patthar dil wale now because back then they did't have to hate Sai. š Ninad was presented as a brave soldier but seeing his criminal activities I doubt he was ever a good soldier. Earlier it looked like Kaku actually cared for the Chavan kids but now it looks like her love is fake. They can't actually maintain the grey characterization and end up making either white or black.
Exactly my point.

See the beauty in the plot .. of Ghum is that they are all real .. in real life we seldom get heroes .. who are doing something for some greater good .. we support somebody or are against somebody not because of any greater cause because of our own selfish petty motive ..
In family battles it is mostly a case if upmanship and selfish interests
The Chavans are all blinded by their selfish interests of control and act accordingly
Sai is a strong girl and very intelligent.. she has a bright career ahead of her .. if she completes her medical studies ..
As a doctor she will only bec big asset to her IPS officer husband.. which the DiG who was Viratās superior himself made it aware to Virat ..
Kaku knows the status quo and does not want Sai to change the equations in the house
Omi , Sonali do not want a smarter bahu compared to karishma ..
Pakhi has her own interest we all know
Ninad simply wanted a docile daughter in law .. who would be yes person and appeal to his vahini ..
He definitely did not want his son to be head over heels in love with his wife
Now why do Mohit supports Sai .. she gives him strength and a reason to voice out to his elders .. itās a dare for him
Ashwini wants a strong girl for her son .. and she fell in love with Sai at first glance ..
so whether their reasons are logical towards each other or not .. the plot is driven towards how they behave towards Sai
Sonali and ashwini are good to each other but Sonali does not like Sai .. and we see only this .
so true. It ends up in a typical fashion. Oh, I'm suddenly reminded of a tv show I used to love. It had a hero. And it had a heroine. The story was based on them. But other characters had their own stories too, their own insecurities, their own battles to fightit was beautiful. And their characters' virtue or vice did not depend on their equation with the leads. Aah. A rakha of friendship, love, meaning and purpose ā¤ļøHow could I forget that showOriginally posted by: bubbly12
Not only ITV serials but most of the typical Indian movies are also like that. It's all about Hero vs Villain. All the characters come only under these 2 categories. However It's a relief that in recent years this trend has changed in movies especially south Indian movies(much needed). Hope we see that change in serials as well.
Exactly, and what irritates me most that some actors and makers are hellbent on saying that all characters are grey! I remember once NB was questioned about KBA's character in an IV and he said that everyone is grey, Sai, Virat, Aai, Kaku and Pakhi too . Black characters having some morals and white characters having some flaws doesn't makes them grey.

Oh I'm curious now, would you mind pm'ing me the name
Bold: agree.I had made similar posts few months back when I started watching the show.
We all have to agree that writers either lack perspective in general or they have been given specific categories within which they have to fit all the characters.
Per ITV writers, there are only 4 types of females - doormat who always cries and takes shit from people , vamp who is always scheming and engaging in kitchen politics, rude who is always shouting at drop of a hat and finally supporting characters whose only job is to facilitate the above 3 types.
ITV also has limited spectrum when it comes to males as well.
Maybe there is a separate school for ITV writers, where they are taught this and we are stupid not to understand that thats all there is to people.
As far as female leads, I think I have seen females who don't fall in these categories.
Sai is not a doormat e.g.ā¤ļø
Agree about the males. But Omkara in ishqbaaz was different initially but then Gul Khan came back to her comfort zone
Writers of ITV do what they see waiting l working for others. One Balika Vadhu lead to ye rishta and some others. One supernatural in ssk lead to many other supernatural stuff. Rarely anybody dares to get out of their comfort zonewhen one succeeds, others start copying blindly instead of being original.
Thanks for reminding me about Shivaniā¤ļø
I like Karishma too. But I'm not talking about audience's appreciation and liking. I'm tagging about how makers treat these characters. Her evil side is more impressed upon.
About Patralekha,
1.no. I don't agree that if you love a person, you try to show him/her right path. You side with prime according to your own value system. In real life too, I have seen people taking side with wrong people because of their love. She cares for Bhavani because Bhavani has prioritised her over others and gave her a place that no one else did. It might change later though š¤·
2.Virat didn't give her a choice. Though she was free to make her own choice. But Virat did want her to get married to his brother. Virat asked her to marry Samrat. In exchange he gave that stupid vada. She is no Saint. But it doesn't make Virat's wrong right.
3. Didn't watch KD. So no idea. And in talking about what has happened till now.
Maybe you are right. Maybe they are doing a decent job at Patralekha's grey characterization and audience chooses to see her as black 𤷠but I have another perspective too in this regard. The problem is not when makers try to show the characters as grey. It becomes problematic when they make their characters do negative things constantly, and there no reason behind it, but try to show them as positive. There was a character, in a show, they wanted to show her as positive. She was a maid and took care of their owner's kid. She always loved that girl more than her own girl.
One day she saw both the girls drowning in water and she saved her owner's kid. Her husband saved his daughter. No objection to that. Because that girl was her responsibility. But the problem is that she forgot that her own child was drowning. She completely forgot about her. Years later she justified herself saying she her girl child become a good swimmer because she let her drown in water will you term her as a positive character? She was the lead of the show for them, the awesome amazing, phenomenal lead𤣠so there's a huge gap in how they conceive a character and how it is presented. If they make their characters do things like this, and then shamelessly say that she is a great, amazing, allrounder woman, I don't think then it's audience's fault to not agree to them š¤·
As far as ghum is concerned, I believe they are doing a decent job at characters but still there's room for improvement. And my point was something elseš
