Now that I have seen the episode, I feel Anokhi is somewhat right from her perspective and I agree with the TM. When she asked him to go and find out why his mom left when she left she is pushing him to do what he would otherwise never have done. Aastha came back into Shaurya's life because of Anokhi so it is fine that Shaurya agrees to give his mother another chance because of Anokhi. Though asking him to be a good son when Aastha could not become his mother is asking too much from the child who was conditioned for 25 years to hate his mother.
Shaurya might listen more intently to Aastha this time around and not dismiss her words as plain lies or a ploy to turn him against his family like he did during his birthday. Though I would have always liked it better if Anokhi was only an indirect reason for their reconciliation and not a direct one. I would have liked Shaurya agreeing to give Aastha another chance after seeing that Aastha actually cares for him not because Anokhi says so. In the past few days when Aastha was near him, Shaurya didn't even register her presence. He was too engrossed in Anokhi's thoughts. It would be nice to see if Shaurya thinks back about those times. Aastha has to prove to Shaurya how important he is for her. Only then can he accept her from his heart. The acceptance on Anokhi's insistence will be half hearted.
Though by asking him to give a thought about how his family ousted her because she wanted a career was in a way Anokhi's way of calling out the misogyny. Shaurya never for a moment thought that his family could be wrong when they asked her to leave because she wanted to have a career. Shaurya has deliberately blinded himself to several other instances of misogyny in his family. When Kanchan and Gayatri were asked to leave the house, he pleaded with Tej to not be so harsh on them, but he didn't day that Kanchan and Gayatri had every right to stay in that house. No one could throw them out as long as they are married to the men of the house.
Anokhi wants her identity, but the rest of the women of SM including Aastha wanted self respect which is a basic necessity for every human being. For Aastha identity was secondary and therefore she left her job to marry Shaan. What she didn't leave was her self respect. Something that her parents taught her. She knew how humiliating it would be for them to be dependent for life on their daughter's in-laws. That is why she decided to work. Not just for her own self respect but that of her parents too. Shaan never understood this.
I don't know if Anokhi or Shaurya knows the actual reason for Aastha's departure but Anokhi has asked Shaurya to think over his relationship with his mother which is right but asking him to be a good son is not. Anokhi is too young to understand the repercussions of abandonment on a child. To be fair to her, neither did Aastha when she left Shaurya with the Sabharwals. She thought he would not miss her with so many people to care for him in that house (not that she had any choice). In fact very few of us educated individuals know about these issues related to child psychology. Many parents in their ignorance put their children through such situations. Then again, good foster parents can heal the pain to a great extent. Which Devi failed to do. She only aggravated it.
I guess my essay is even longer than that of the TM.😆
I wholeheartedly agree that he should accept her from his heart. Anokhi's role was only to push himself to see from a fresh persepctive, to try to open himself to aastha's persepective and then change his soch from there.
As you said, so many examples of misogyny was right in front of him, he tried to stop gayatri and kanchan even when he himself hated aastha; but probably didn't realise that the reason they are being told to leave the house is bcs of patriarchal setup of their house.
Anokhi is also equally big on respect. She knows that shaurya might not be able to treat her as equal. And to her being treated as an equal is tied to respect. Infact this is what ppl say when they mean respect women.
Both of them don't know the real reason, but anokhi is sure of the fact that aastha can't be wrong; she has that faith in her, hence I mentioned her love for aastha knows no bounds😆. Aastha is just realising after meeting him as to how much damage has been done to shaurya. Shaan is just useless, hopeless and spineless. And he hasn't changed a bit, such a disappointment to both aastha and shaurya.
