When anokhi decided to leave, shaurya was somewhere reminded of how aastha too left him and in his mind for her career. He thought that anokhi is doing the same. She is leaving him for her career. He couldn’t do anything back then but he did now by going to an extreme where he shouldn’t have gone to no matter what. This is forced marriage and anokhi called him out for the same (writers👏)
Due to this action of his, anokhi’s fears came standing right in front of her. She saw it as something that a controlling man would do (and she isn’t completely wrong)
She doesn’t know the truth or maybe she does? albeit very little; she knows that aastha isn’t the one who is wrong infact she was wronged by his family. Isn’t this what had happened while shaurya was fed lies about the whole situation.
He needs to know what kind of web of lies and manipulation he is stuck in.
Just like how shaurya couldn’t stop aastha from leaving then, similarly Aastha couldn’t explain why she is doing what she is doing.
But Today, shaurya stopped anokhi by going to an unacceptable extreme. And this was due to what happened 25 years back, and anokhi kind of knows that he is the way he is bcs of his past (she doesn’t know whole thing but with this track she will know more) ; so her fears and insecurities coupled with whatever little knowledge she has about his family and aastha matter, she asks him to understand aastha.
She isn’t forcing him, but she knows that 25 yrs back was the start of his soch so this is where it would end. she is asking him to go and find the answers to his questions that he always had in his mind. To go and question his mother, about her decisions. And in that process, try to hear her with an open mind (not easy but he has to start somewhere)
Ultimately, anokhi wants him to understand that she isn’t wrong to want to have both career and love. That if he can have a career along with love, so can she. That she might be a reflection of aastha, But then situation and the now situation is starkly different, yet in many ways similar.
It is different in a way that aastha didn’t leave bcs of her career like he was made to believe; whereas anokhi is leaving him, again not Only bcs of career but bcs she knows she isn’t going to be treated as an equal.
And it is similar in a way, that both women are having to make impossible choices; no person should be made to choose between his/her parents or the child. No one should be made to choose between love or their self respect/identity.
And allowing is a form of control which shaurya needs to understand.
He needs to understand that anokhi has had her past and her own struggles. Afterall, if he would have known the kind of controlling men anokhi has dealt with in her life; he would have never thought of putting sindoor.
He needs to assure her and for that he needs to be assured in himself that anokhi is just a reflection of aastha, she is not aastha. He needs to get untangled from this web and once the facade falls apart, he will see how both women are the victims of patriarchy, and the soch he has is wrong on so many levels.
There is a Herculean amount of effort he would need to put in order to even speak to aastha. It would be extremely painful for him and he knows it too but there is only one person for whom he can take that pain. And that’s anokhi. And there is only one person who can push him to do what is unthinkable and impossible for him. That’s anokhi.
Just like he went to extreme measures to keep anokhi in his life, he would need to take extreme measures to change that mentality of his, the same mentality that is preventing anokhi to accept him. The same mentality due to which he took this unacceptable decision and forced it on her; without thinking of her fears or from her perspective.
Anokhi might be being unfair on him, probably she is being unfair on him; but it is out of good intention. It isn’t to break him, she can never think of doing that. She isn’t doing this to control him or binding him to an unwanted relation. She is doing what should have happened much earlier, pushing him to free himself of this manipulative web that has been woven around him. Forcing him to see it, and then pushing him to come out of it.
Phew! Long post but this is a very interesting part of the episode and I think depending on individual perspectives some might agree to anokhi some might not. But, to me this is very interesting aspect of anokhi’s character and this aspect comes mostly when it is in relation to aastha. Girl blindly loves her (probably more than shaurya lol; shaurya you better not waste your jeolousy on ahir, since it isn’t ahir but someone else whom she loves more than you🤣 he should confront aastha and tell her to stop coming in between me and my wife😆)
