I would like to start by apologizing for not being cognizant of motherly feelings when I talked about Devi and Aastha in my last review. Everyone who had commented on the post helped me realize how wrong the line was. There are many women who can't become mothers. There are many who are adoptive mothers. You don't need to go through labor to feel motherly affections for a child. Everyone is not Devi. I was too busy rooting for Aastha that I didn't realize the gravity of that line for other viewers.
Let's jump into today's review:
Anokhi: Did she really think of Shaurya when Ahir asked about her favorite person? I won't call a person my favorite just because he has saved me from riots or goons.
If Shaurya is the most complex character, Anokhi was the simplest character in this serial. They should have kept it this way.
They should build it up gradually. Only recently they showed Shaurya developing feelings for her. Why do they need to get Anokhi to like him so soon?
When they stop at the dhaba and Shaurya kidnaps her, Anokhi was not hyper. I would take it as a good sign. Despite the allegations he made, the advances he suggested, she knows she is safe with him, so she is ready to listen and go with him to Kapurthala.
By the way, today's precap was different than the one on Monday. Which is the real apology scene? I personally liked KV's expressions on Monday's precap better. They shouldn't change scenes like this.
Shaurya: The way he was fumbling in the first scene anyone would understand that he has special feelings for Anokhi. But our trimurti is dumb.
Anokhi cut his call twice yet he wasn't angry. She was going with Ahir. Ahir opened the door for her right in front of him. How come he wasn't destructive in his anger? It is a good thing, no?
90 kilometers picha kiya aur washroom se kidnap karke le gaya. That means he entered ladies washroom. How come no one noticed. Very strange considering the dhaba was full.
When did he have the realization at the first place? I know viewers don't like when stories are stretched, at the same time, makers shouldn't make it an express train that we can't fathom how, when or what of a given situation.
Aastha: Her son literally came in front of a car and jumped on its bonnet. Still no reaction?
Aastha knows that Shaurya insulted Anokhi, called her characterless and whatnot. How come she is so easy with letting Anokhi be with Shaurya.
For her information, both of them accused Anokhi of the same thing. Is that how it works?
Ahir: I am sad that he didn't have a comeback to Shaurya's stunt. He should have. I like his scenes with Shaurya a lot.
Honestly, I want him to be a positive guy. He seems fun-loving. The actor is good too. This serial needs a positive, useful and loveable character. He better be that.
Kanchan: Give me 10 minutes of Devi but not 1 minute of her (Okay, I am exaggerating). You all can disagree. This is just my opinion. Comparatively, she was tolerable in today's episode than on Monday's. I would still stick to the fact that the scenes aren't so useful. I appreciate she is trying to help Shaurya, but there should have been a build-up.
And she talks to him so frankly. Even Kitty-Bebo can't. When Kitty-Bebo are scared of him, how come Kanchan isn't? I am surprised how Shaan and Aastha aren't able to see the budding love when Kanchan and Ahir can.
I never took your assessment as a negative. Our views are colored by our experiences. You said you were 19. I have almost two decades on you, so my view is colored by that life experience. I think a lot of people felt Aastha's comment was a low blow. It's also incorrect. Devi could come back with "Without raising your son, you still claim him to be yours". Compared to Aastha's 4 years, Devi has committed 25 years to Shaurya. I know we should sympathize with Aastha because it was unjust how she was separated from her child and I do. But it doesn't negate the love Devi still has for Shaurya.
Also seeing multiple views is why we're on a forum, otherwise we would all live in our own bubbles. It's why I look forward to reading your assessment and then commenting on it.
Anokhi: I'm curious to see the evolution of Shaurya being Anokhi's favorite person. I liked that she had the flashback of him saving her and also the hurtful things he said.
I disagree, I don't want Anokhi to be kept simple. I want her to not just be the traditional mahaan female lead. I want her to be fallible. I want her feelings to be complex. Anyone who's loved a person knows that we don't love a perfect person, because there's no such thing as perfection. There's certain actions that speak louder - for some the good outweighs the bad. You can say hurtful things to each other and still learn to forgive the person if you believe them at their core. This is just my assessment for why Anokhi can look past some of Shaurya's more irritating qualities.
You know I want a gradual love story too....but this is ITV and after watching so many shows that take soooooooo long to move the love story along - most only occur after a forced marriage - it's refreshing to see a show jump head first into the love story. I want the mad unexplained passion and love to come through. I hope they do a better job with editing and bring out the love story. Kidnapping was done in a clunky way, but I enjoy the back and forth that KV and Deb are good at, so I'll forgive it.
I also noticed the bait and switch of the apology scene. Shaurya's voice went from that superficial tone to the sincere tone. Can't wait to see what unfolds on Thursday.
Shaurya: The frustration of Shaurya in the first scene was great to see. His helplessness really solidifies that he's incapable of processing his feelings like an adult. It's what makes ShaKhi a good pairing. Shaurya's very childish in his approach and Anokhi is too mature in her approach. It makes their age gap disappear for me.
Shaurya was intent on keeping Anokhi in Chandigarh that he didn't get angry at anything. It is unusual for him. I'm sure the jealous streak will be back soon. I've already mentioned how clunky I think kidnapping was. I guess he needed to drive out of the way to really calm down and talk it out. The bridge seems to have the double meaning.....it's a structure built over an obstacle and it "bridges" a gap....which are all things ShaKhi needs to do to start anew. I like the symbolism.
I agree that this story is moving at an express train pace......again this might be because we've become accustomed to a snail's pace.
Aastha: At least Aastha noticed her son wanted to say something and couldn't get the words out. She might also not react to things as a "mother" because she really hasn't been mothering for the last 25 years. She mothers Anokhi because she's receptive to it. Shaurya is standoff-ish and he's made it clear that he's not her son, so maybe she's just accepting it. She might have realized she's lost the haq.
She also trusts Shaurya. Aastha/Shaan didn't react negatively to seeing Shaurya alone with Anokhi in the flat, earlier in the week. They accept that their son can be an ass, but that he's a good man too. It's the hypocrisy of a parent I guess. Like you said, Devi spouts the same sentiments, so Aastha might blame the Sabherwals instead of Shaurya directly.
Ahir: He makes me suspicious. He's got a connection to the Sabherwals. Especially since that scene where he saw Shaan for the first time and he had a weird facial expression. I foresee a storyline there! Ahir does have great scenes with Shaurya. Their tête-à-tête is always amusing. And I agree, this serial needs a positive and useful character.
Kanchan: She's a plot device currently. Not really a fleshed out character. We know that she's a good hearted person and a romantic. She want to be part of the Sabherwal family eventhough they keep making her feel like an outsider. Shaurya maybe the first opportunity she's had to really make a connection with a Sabherwal. I'm going to forgive her lack of development and accept it at face value. She's very exaggerated as a character. For now, ShaKhi can use a cheerleader!
Kanchan's not really scared. Gayatri is the scared one that keeps her on the leash. Kanchan on the other hand will just open her mouth and opine. Remeber how she pulled Yash onto the dance floor. So I'm not surprised that she's not scared of Shaurya.
Shaanoor: Also the blindness of Shaan and Aastha have no bounds. They clearly don't see anything when it comes to their son's feelings. Shaurya is scared of losing someone from his life and Shaan is making plans for his Noor. Are the flowers for a proposal?? As parents, Shaan and Aastha have really failed in my eyes.
Apologies, this got really really long!
