Interesting Analysis...loved it
Shaurya: He is behaving like a teenager and emotionally unstable person, a far cry from graceful and closed off professor from past. I struggle to understand that the change. I assume it is he is partly guilty and partly overwhelmed with unexplored emotions for Anokhi. Also he was closed off to any emotions until now as everyone tiptoed around him and that allowed him keep up his defenses and hide vulnerability. With Anokhi barging through his defenses without a second thought, he is struggling to manage his emotions. He has been a passionate and fair professor in past and he believes he is doing all this for Anokhi because she is extremely bright and as a teacher he needs to nurture her potential. He is not willing at this point to even consider any other reason because that would mean he is attracted to his unruly and outspoken student who is significantly younger to him. She is nothing like the person he probably hoped to love and marry. It will also mean he is more vulnerable than he has ever been in past. If only he could see himself doing all the crazy things he is doing...the lies we tell ourselves!
I am glad they should he was impacted by divorce. I have always felt he never wanted the divorce and he definitely does not hate Astha. He resents her because he believes that she choose her dreams and left a broken family behind. To top it she never looked back to see what happened to her son and husband. I think he wants his dad out of his drunken stupor and a heartfelt apology and repentance from Astha. He wants her to say that she missed him, she loved him.
I feel sad for this character because he seems so lonely despite the supposed love of the family. He seems to have no true confidante and no one who knows him.
Anokhi: Life is a struggle and no one knows this better than her. She can be stubborn as a mule if she chooses to. I do not get her decision to leave SAIC and that too happily. There might be times in future when society will point a finger at her and call her unfair names. There will be situations in future where her boss, her acquaintances might be misogynists and they will try to pull her down. Will she run away every time? There is no doubt that SAIC will get her better future and faster if she can stick around so the fact that she has no regrets does not make sense to me. I still do not get her ease with Ahir. If someone I met a week back offered to drive me and my guardian to Kapurthala, I would be hesitant and refuse. These ladies are completely comfortable and that includes Astha.
Astha and Shaan: Kya kahoo...two peas in a pod. They are so caught up in their own world that they have no inkling as to what is happening with Anokhi or Shaurya. They are the worst parents ever. If anything they are more protective of Anokhi than Shaurya not sure why. Because Shaurya is a supposedly mature guy or because they have washed their hands off him after foisting him on Devi. Not once has Astha displayed natural curiosity of a mother and asked Anokhi about Shaurya in college. In her place, I would try to find everything I could about him, take pictures and see if I could repair that relationship somewhat even if that meant I would get humiliated repeatedly. Shaan calls out that Shaurya is behaving oddly but he has not tried to find out why. The rest of the family can see what Shaan and Astha should have sensed long back...the forging of an unlikely bond between Shaurya and Anokhi. I think the only good thing that came out of all the recent interactions between Shaan and Astha was it pulled Shaan out of his self pity and motivated him to chase Astha again.
Rest of the Sabherwals : The less said, the better. This is a truly toxic family. I liked the fact Tej was concerned about the impact divorce would have on Shaurya and Shaan. My guess is he is just trying to hold his family together in a very age old and conservative manner where he is the head of the family and no one opposes him. Devi and Alok on the other hand are truly evil and can really go low.
I guess Kitty and Bebo are about to get their due, I do not see this end well in any scenario. Is Anmol back to his playboy ways or take a revenge on Sabherwals? Does he truly like Kitty or has he reformed? We will have to wait and see.
