Hey all,
I just wanted to share my two cents over here. To respectfully differ from the other opinions, I think for both - Sanaya and Barun - IPK is special. And not just them, even for the the writers and other people.
It is the show that's really a massive landmark in their careers, and in separate interviews both have often described their love for the show. Yes, there were also flip sides to that show being so popular.
Barun was painfully typecast as the urban upper middle class and they'd only give him roles based on what he was popular for and not what he could. It took him nine years to do a film like Halahal - and I was so glad because finally someone saw his mettle as an actor and outside the box of Arnav Singh Raizada! Even in Tu Hai Mera Sunday, WHICH WAS BRILLIANT, a lot of people didn't connect the Arnav they loved to the fabulous Arjun so quite a few unfortunately didn't watch the film (and there were issues ofc of people not watching films if it didn't have "mainstream" actors but not here for a debate so let's not go into it đ).
Imagine working on something that made you really big and not getting good work because you worked on something like that and became that big. Boon became bane kinda thing? Damn... that's a bummer.
For Sanaya her roles have always been different from one show to the next. Gunjan was miles away from Khushi, and then to Chanchan and I'm glad Rangrasiya came her way because she again could show her range with Paro. And with the newer short films and web series, she is exploring different character, each time.
I know for us it might feel like they're not that invested/grateful/love the show for whatever reasons or because they don't mention it as much as we do, but I don't think that's the case.
I agree with Stuti that there were some external factors that probably made everyone reluctant to come back and make a show together.
I often wonder that if those (and no names being taken here as well) respected Barun Sanaya's personal lives and also admired their chemistry (like all of us) then we would've seen them together on screen more frequently.
Even now, whenever Sanaya posts a pic with her friends there are people writing to her to post a pic with Barun and vice versa.
I love the way the fans of Naagin 5 treated Sharad and Surbhi (to my knowledge). They loved the onscreen couple, respectfully showered love on the offscreen friendship and you see they're in a music video together!
Now I'm not saying that this is the only thing responsible for them not coming back on screen, but let's say it might've played a part. Who knows, they were probably never bothered by it đ
Second of all, I think both Barun and Sanaya now are extremely careful about the projects they choose. So if IPK, canon or new, came in front as a carefully written web series on or even a well written telefilm then they'd do it at the drop of a hat. It's no secret that they both prefer limited episodes with a brilliant script.
And they've both performed brilliantly on such material as well!
So they won't work on a full fledged show because very FEW Indian shows have kept their word of "ok, six month contract, we'll keep it to six months" I think Sony at times sticks to its timeline? (Reporters and Mere Dad Ki Dulhan) I can't remember Star stopping a successful show because its written timeline came to an end (not demonizing any channel, just an observation).
I remember Yeh Jaadu Hai Jinn Ka being extended even though it was made as a finite series. While things like that can be a success for the fans, it can be quite difficult for actors and their career development (not referring to the actors in YJHJK, that's just an example).
So at the end of the day let's not think anything negative and hope that if Sanaya, Barun and the whole team decide to come back together then it's on something good that we can all love and enjoy!
See you all later đ,
S
