Ashwini: Also the victim of domestic abuse?

We all know that Ninad is a misogynist. How and why Virat idolized him for 26-27 odd years, nobody knows. But did you see Ashwini's reaction when Ninad was about to slap Sai? She wasn't shocked like Makhi Didi. She seemed to be reliving the pain which she underwent. Up until this point, I didn't think Ninad would be an abuser but now it seems obvious. He's obviously the sort of man who treats women like his property. If he can raise a hand on his daughter-in-law on whom he doesn't have the 'first right' so as to speak, wouldn't he have done it to his own wife who he would've thought of as his chattel?

Virat considering his Baba to be his idol and best friend is the biggest mystery to me. HOW? I was also disappointed with the way he told him off. It sounded more like Virat thought it was a one-off and that his Baba is not capable of such a thing. Why, WHY, can he not deal with these abusers little more strictly??!!

It is not believable that Virat is unaware of Ninad's treatment of Ashwini. That Virat idolized Ninad is ridiculous. Seems to be a case of unintelligent wrtiting.

In one of the previous episodes Ninad tried to do this to Aswini..I forgot which one. Obviously he must have been doing this to Aswini since their marriage. Virat calling him his ideal is really intriguing. His reaction today was disappointing. He should have voiced his contempt with more impact .

Virat most of the time wants to be positive . Even today he did his 'frustration relieve aasan', (keeping his hand on his head) and moderated his anger against the family,and today he was losing his patience quite quickly.

And Ashwini ,as many had said earlier has kept Virat away from most of the mess.But the tension is too obvious to sense.So in order to protect his mother,he might have been according to his father,idolising him.Moderating everything. So that atleast he doesn't become a cause of misery for his mother.

But maybe she was not totally successful. And probably Virat became mature at an early stage,bending himself probably rather than others. But somewhere he feels insecure of all this,you know like a scared hidden kid ,and this sense comes in front of Sai,maybe that is why he doesn't want to completely bend infront of her ,he also wants her to accept him ,just as he is ,flawed,not as a show-off or someone as perfect as her aaba. But as family.

I agree. Seeing the earlier episodes too I felt that he might have done something like that with Ashwini.

His behavior and also kaku always calling Ashwini wrong and pointing that she wasn't a good wife and all.

And after this episode and strongly feel he might have abused Ashwini physically or mentally too.

Virat was not shocked at his father raising a hand on sayi .. because in all probability he has seen his mother getting hit like this as a child .. he rebuked him .. but he’s aware of his father ..

Regarding he idolizing his dad .. it was till a phase he had not started working .. till he was in the student phase .. even academy phase .. he was dependent on his dad ..till he was deciding on getting married to sayi .. he was idolising his dad.. thinking he was a good professional,..

but the way he pulled the rug under him when virat appeared with sayi .. and did not appreciate that virat had married to fulfil a duty .. his masks started wearing off .. and he realised his father is a jerk .. in all fields .. and only makes empty promises on duty ..

After receiving a bad welcome (after marrying Sai), there is a scene where a dejected Virat tells Sunny that he expected that Ninad would support him as a friend. So clearly his relationship with his dad was more personal.

@bold I've never seen such situation, so I cannot imagine. But is it realistically possible for a sensitive child who has witnessed such behaviour towards his mother to even like his father? I would imagine that he would carry resentment against him (unless the son was also like Ninad).

As for myself,I have problem with Virat in many situations but never with Neil. He is perfection personified. Very subtle yet very expressive. His eyes are enough to convey multiple emotions all in one at one go.

I was wondering the same. Would Ashwini have been a young Sai who got subjugated with the abuse over the years? Ninad is a despicable character ...am sure of it. Also if Virat held Sai's hand the other day and kept repeating he was trying to teach her tameez, obviously there is something he has seen in his childhood that has normalized it.
