Favorite scene. It's simply entrancing to look at but the topper is Hrithik's expressions accompanied by Javed's poetry read by Farhan.

It's amusing that Kat was terrified while Hrithik is a certified diver (like Farhan is an experienced sky diver playing the one most afraid) so she was the one grabbing hands for security, not him. The water was freezing and unbeknownst to the cast there were tiger sharks in the area. So hardly as serene as it looked but that's the magic of film.

I actually like parts of the movie versus the whole. My favourite part was this Hrithik Katrina scene. I got both sides well - Hrithik has been affected by money the most so is sensitive about it, Katrina teaches Hrithik to become less uptight and think about life beyond money... 'kabhi paycheque milte waqt tumhaare ankhon mein aansoo aaye hai?' hit hard. 'Seize the day' and all sounds great in a movie (not practical in real life all the time) but this scene really worked for me in the movie.

I found it a good movie when I watched it. Now, I don't remember the scenes in details to analyse them. The overall vibe of the movie felt good to me. But I think I was disappointed with the ending. If I remember correctly, it ended just abruptly in the middle of the bull race. I was confused what to make of that ending😆

The music album was pleasant to the ears & that also helped the movie a lot I guess.

It does end there (and with another Farhan poetry voice over) but we get a coda with the fun wedding scene so we see how it all turned out. I love the music in this film and agreed it helped the movie.

Zoya Akhter and her movies , both are overrated. Her brother is a better director

I watched it in 2011 and I watched it today after 10 years but I found it full of cliches, bad jokes, and trying too hard to fit the Dil Chahta Hai mould. If only the writing was half as clever as DCH, but it wasn't. The only redeeming factors were the beautiful locales and the melodious, catchy songs but that's about it.

What's the big deal about this movie?

nothing . Farhan was super irritating. I loved katrina and Abhay . That’s it .

I like the movie but to me so much of what makes the movie special is the fact that this genre doesn't exist in Indian cinema. Road trip movies, or friendship movies that highlight the nuances in a friendship, or movies that mainly focuses on inner conflicts and growth of a character rather than the plot is rare. The movie had beautiful people, a beautiful location that is just made for camera and exploration. Spain itself was the best character in the movie for me. As for the other characters while the female ones were so poorly written I thought all 3 of the males were interesting.

But yes, Hrithik’s personality was the pranksters dream come true. 😆

I don't wanna hijack this thread too like I've been doing to most of Minty's threads these days ... but I'll just add this one more comment and leave it at that. 😆

When he throws the phone out of the window, it does stop you in your tracks cuz we know how "serious" Hrithik is about his work and they also start off with this undercurrent of tension between them. What makes it funny is that most of the people at one point or another tend to take things too far or have done things they regret exactly 0.1 second later in a moment of "spontaneity" ... and Farhaan does it so coolly with absolutely no regard whatsoever.😆 The funnier part follows afterwards with the whole Moshi Moshi and pink Japanese phone poor HR carries the rest of the trip.😆

Agreed though the best part of the Moshi Moshi bit is the wine spill and glass catch. Zoya says it was the first take and they were all shocked Hrithik caught the glass and you can kind of see that surprise on all their faces.

Though sometimes charming, Farhan is really abrasive in this movie until he gets an ugly reality check when he meets his father. But even before that his relationship with Hrithik's character seems more real and layered than the one with Abhay's. Maybe because how it's written or maybe because in real life they've known each other since they were kids so they have that to draw on.
