Did you know Bhansali was the assistant director and was in charge of the song? You can see that touch simplicity (Madhuri's pulled back simple hairstyle, usage of pastel shades) in Khamoshi.

Thanks for the trivia👍🏼

I sincerely believe Khamoshi is Bhansali's most authentic work till date. That movie was a work of art.

I was like its all 90s , 90s that is the best, Actually its only early 90's when the industry saw new golden music era for 3- 4 years.

80s too has some very beautiful songs. It was more of a disco era started by Bhappi Lehri.

80s music was overall not bad. I think the style that came in the 90s came in largely from the late 80s - if I'm not wrong, Udit Narayan's first big hit was Papa Kehte Hai from QSQT.

Some of my favourites outside of the 80s blockbusters like Mr India, QSQT and Maine Pyaar Kiya type of songs:

Honthon se chukar tum mere geet amar kar do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDO9ZRSNB9s&ab_channel=ShemarooFilmiGaane

Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re (remade in Ayushman's recent movie): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVImQoGNdTE&ab_channel=ShemarooFilmiGaane

Jaane Kya Baat Hai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQYcjNxfsoc&ab_channel=GaaneSuneAnsune

Random, but funny song - Shayad Mere Shaadi Ka Khayal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtrEjGdlfYc&ab_channel=ShemarooFilmiGaane

And of course.. ever green... lakdi ki kaathi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSs2n5abdmg&ab_channel=ShemarooFilmiGaane

early 90s were monotonous nadeem sharavan , kumar sanu songs ...repetitive ...bollywood has seen best after 1995 till 2006 or 07 or to extent 08 with udit narayan, sonu and abhijeet singing

Wow, so many people saying 80s was the worst decade for music and I could not agree more ❤️

Even though of course there are COUNTLESS gems in the 80s, the overall sounds, compared with other decades, were inferior. And if we look at the worst music of each decade and compare, the 80s is by far the WORST of all. But this drought is partly the reason why the 90s were so MELODIC and MAGIC. I feel like we are at the cusp of that era again.. for herstory to repeat herself.

Some of my favourite songs of the 1980s:

1980:

• Do Aur Do Paanch - "Janu Meri Jaan"

• Kudrat - "Humein Tumse Pyar Kitna"

• Aasha - "Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho"

• Ek Duuje Ke Liye - "Tere Mere Beech Mein"

• Qurbani - "Aap Jaisa Koi", "Hum Tumhein Chahte Hain", "Laila O Laila"

1981

• Umrao Jaan - "In Ankhon Ki Masti", "Dil Cheez Kya Hai", "Justuju Jiski Thi", "Yeh Kya Jagah Hai Doston", "Jab Bhi Milti Hai"

• Silsila - "Dekha Ek Khwab Toh", "Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye", "Ladki Hai Ya Shola", "Rang Barse"

• Naseeb - "Mere Naseeb Mein", "Zindagi Imtihan Leti Hai"

• Laawaris - "Apni To Jaise Taise", "Mere Angne Mein"

• Amar Akbar Anthony - "Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyar", "Pardah Hai Pardah"

• Jyoti - "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai"

1982

• Prem Rog - "Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chaubara", "Yeh Pyar Tha Ya Kuchh Tur Tha"

• Arth - "Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho", "Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar"

• Khuddar • "I Love You", "Disco 82"

• Yeh Nazdeekiyan - "Ek Daur Woh Bhi Tha", "Kitni Haseen Hain Nasheeli"

• Nikaah - "Dil Ke Armaan"

• Namak Halal - "Raat Baaqi", "Pag Ghungroo", "Jawani Janeman", "Aaj Rapat"

• Disco Dancer - "Jimmy Jimmy", "I Am A Disco Dancer"

1983

• Kalaakaar - "Neele Neele Ambar Par"

• Sadma - "Aye Zindagi Gale Lagaa Le"

• Himmatwala - "Taki Taki", "Naino Mein Sapna"

• Betaab - "Jab Hum Jawan"

• Mawaali - "Ui Amma"

• Masoom - "Tujhse Naraz Nahin Zindagi"

1984:

• Sharaabi - "Mujhe Naulakha Mangade Re", "De De Pyar De", "Inteha Ho Gayi"

• Tohfa - "Tohfa Tohfa Tohfa", "Ek Ankh Maru"

1985

• Jung - "Zindagi Har Kadam"
