Dude you just channeled my thoughts đ
This is the first time I am watching Faisal Qureshi on screen and I liked him instantly. He has that quiet mature man attitude but with an underlying current of obsession with his ex. Wahaj was pretty nice too.
U absolutely nailed the analysis of everyone's different obsessions. I guess I'd add here that Mehmal's obsession is her beauty and the need to have her husband love her. She is very superficial and can only feel emotions to a certain extent. Reminds me of Mehwish from MPTH.
I loved how both the men are rich and belong to the upper class but have their own distinct personality if you know what I mean. Like Haider is new money and Hamza is old money so you can sense the difference in their behaviour and attitude.
Somewhere I see both the guys channeling Sultan Durrani, since Deewangi was the producers' and channel's biggest hit and Sultan was the show. Danish had done such a phenomenal job. Period. I had probably fangirled and rooted for a character from a South Asian show after years. đ So no matter what show it is, if a male character shows traits of obsession, love, not getting over their ex and having loads of money you will definitely be reminded of Sultan...plus the producers and channel's the same sooooo đ
I've seen quite a number of dramas with FQ in it apart from Haiwaan and I can say that he possesses this screenpresence that acts like a magnetic field leaving an impact on everyone in his vicinity. He is known for playing antiheroes and I've enjoyed watching almost every character of his that I've come aross till now barring the one he played in Muqaddar. His character Haider may not be an antihero but he is flawed nevertheless. As Haider,FQ radiates this mature yet intense demeanour.
I started liking Wahaj some time ago and he has mostly romantic and emo characters before attempting a jaded character in Ghisi Pitti Mohabbat. Hamza is,as I've mentioned, his first proper stint as a grey character which will possibly turn dark later. Now as compared to FQ's poised charisma,Wahaj exhibited an adorable yet charming demeanour. Hamza is someone who would impress you at the very first sight.
I feel the casting director has done a masterstroke by selecting Wahaj to play FQ's foil because the auras that both actors possess are polar opposites. They will attract as well as compliment each other. This is the reason why I'm excited to watch Haider and Hamza's face offs.I have a feeling that we won't get bored at all.
Sigh. Sultan Durrani. One can never ever forget him for he was addictive as a character and combined with Danish's flawless performance,he obtained a position in the list of the most attractive and alluring characters I've come across in fiction. I was legit obsessed with him and used to root for him to which is precisely why I was mad at the writers for doing him dirtyđHe was and continues to be their greatest creation.
Speaking of which,he continues to make his presence felt in this latest creation of their's as well.Something occurred to me when you mentioned that both Hamza and Haider are channeling Sultan. Of course I might be wrong but what if the writers split Sultan's character into two and created Haider and Hamza respectively. Haider represents the fallible human that Sultan used to be. Like Sultan,Haider too,is holding on to his long lost love with his fair share of regrets. And Haider cares deeply for the people in his inner circle which includes his mom,sis and friend. The bit of Sultan that lies within Haider refuses to let him move on from the past.
Hamza represents the fallen angel that Sultan became at a point. The centre of Hamza's universe is DN and only her. When he will be confronted with the possibility of losing her,he is going to do everything in his power in order to win her back. Hamza will display Sultan's unadulterated chaotic side who won't mind setting the world on fire if that is what it takes to get him his love.
I find it amusing because regardless of who gets the girl at the end it will be Sultan who won and Sultan who lostđ

You write so well Miss. Lawyer â¤ď¸
Okay so m not a regular viewer of Pak shows so m not aware about a lot of actors tbh.
Wahaj is one of my favs though. Have always seen him in emotional, romantic and good guy roles and he is really good at those. He emotes really well !
He is superb in comic roles as well..really enjoyed his performance as Taqi in Mah e Tamam.
Riz of GPM was a grey character but in the sense that he was childish, selfish and a brat basically but HAMZA is completely different.
So, safe to say that Wahaj will be performing a dark, obsessive character for the very first time and I really m curious to see how he performs, curious to see how he interprets and portrays Hamza.
Haven't watched Hiba or Kiran's work before.
Have watched Faysal's Haiwan and in that Faysal and Wahaj played father and son. That was one intense, dark and a depressing show BUT Wahaj and Faysal's scenes used to be soooo good !
Won't be lying if I say that Wahaj as Hamza is what has attracted to me this show. He is also doing Dil Na Umeed Toh NAHI where Wahaj is playing Jamshed - a guy who was a victim of child abuse but has grown up to become a caring, emotional and a sensitive person who despite going through so much is trying to work for the betterment of the society.
Hamza and Jamshed are 2 polar opposite characters and this might give a chance to Wahaj to showcase his range as an actor and prove his mettle
My ONLY problem is that Wahaj often doesn't get proper screen space in his shows. Despite fewer scenes he does manage to shine but that is not enough at least for me.
I want to see Wahaj in shows of big banners which revolves around him..Hope he gets his due soon
And also hope that he gets better screen space as Hamza.
Hamza I feel will go down a dark path, self destructive if I may say so. He will have a certain kind of chaotic energy I think along with an obsessive streak.
Let's see how it goes

Firstly can I say how happy I am to notice someone who writes long posts like me!! Its made my day tbh đ
I knew FQ was a seasoned actor but no one warned me how magnetic he is on screen. You can't take your eyes off of him. The depth he's brought to Haider in one episode is astounding. As a viewer, the sole thought in my mind is 'Yeah he's crying and is sad...but its not what it seems.' Somewhere at the back of my head I have a feeling that Haider is a character with various layers and while we've just seen a hint of his obsession, its going to be a long ride.
This is my first time watching Wahaj too and he's impressed me immensely in the short duration of his role in the Pilot. Comparing the two, FQ's Haider is hiding a lot of his pain behind his cool and calm demeanour. He's seen and felt like hell. But Wahaj's Hamza is a grounded yet happy-go-lucky, has seen and experienced comfort in his life; his first traumatic experience would be losing Dilnasheen to a much older, equally powerful man.
Absolutely second the casting director statement. Any show can be made or broken based on the actors they get on board. Having watched only Hiba before, I had my skepticism. But seeing how these fabulous actors have added their own flavour to an age-old but intricate story is fascinating. The push and pull, yin and yang is what might make this show one of the biggest hits of 2021.
Haider and Hamza are both (as I like to called it) 'avatars' of Sultan. They both possess his qualities, but are polar opposites, given the extremes Sultan had been through. Sultan was an incredible character and will always be around in a way. We'll always see him.
Hamza is a gentler version of Sultan before he got married to Narmeen, whereas Haider is an understated version of Sultan after he had lost everything. The clash would be when both men go all guns out and end up becoming more like Sultan in terms of actions due to their obssesions. I.e when Hamza loses Dilnasheen and fights like no other since he has nothing to lose and Haider loses his obsession with Mehmal and fights for his wife.
The chaos and madness that will arise from the "merging" of the yin and yang of the males will be a treat to watch out for. So even though 'Sultan' gets the girl and 'Sultan' loses the girl, we as fans will continue to feel that gaping hole of how writers did a multifaceted character so dirty. Had the writing and execution been apt, can you imagine the heights of critical acclaim and commercial success? And dont even get me started on the number of awards that show would've won!!
Another observation I couldn't help but make was that Hamza and Dilnasheen were what Sultan and Nageen would've been if Nageen had given him a fair chance in the beginning itself. Sultan would've never become this maddeningly tormented soul who was only possessed by the thought of his beloved.
Coming back to the star of the post: who can forget Sultan? By casting Danish, they ended up making the audience go down the emotional rabbit hole of "Deewangi" for Sultan. Strange, when the lines between real and reel blur..!! Sultan was charming, alluring, persuasive and captivating. He enticed me and held my attention throughout the show's run; and I suffer from attention span issues. For me, the only good thing about 2020 was Sultan Durrani. And don't get me started on how enraged I was to see him get the raw end of the deal. The Deewangi thread on I-F is filled with my page long essays. He is and undoubtedly will be their best creation, with such a high benchmark set that the makers will find it difficult to produce anything even remotely comparable.
Was it Sultan's gentle persuasion, even when he manipulated the oldest in the game? Was it his dashingly good looks? Was it the power and dominance he exhibited that put Christian Grey and Don Massimo to shame? Was it his desire to possess Nageen? Was it the animalistic lust in his eyes that drove fangirls into a breathless frenzy? Was it all of this or none at all? Or was it Danish, who breathed in such life into a character that months after the show has ended we continue to discuss it with as much passion as we did in the past?
For me, its yet another yin and yang situation: there is so Sultan without Danish and Danish's critical acclaim and surge in popularity is solely because of Sultan!
