I wouldn't say she doesn't apologize...she actually did apologize after Virat sanctioned Kamal's VRS. I think she was completely embarrassed about how she acted when he brought Kamal's replacement because she was wrong and couldn't apologize in front of everyone. Her inclination is always to be vocal and loud is probably due to her upbringing and the situations she had to deal with.

First being raised by a single parent, like you mentioned, that too by a police officer dad, she didn't get the household discipline that children normally learn from their mom. The teachings he got from his dad was more about being truthful and honest, probably very little about actual social etiquettes. Moreover, being a victim of assault from the age of 15 is not something you can fight by being vulnerable and timid. So basically, when normal teenagers learn manners and such she was battling harassment from goons. I imagine if she was soft-spoken and scared then Jagtap would have done something worse with her sooner, but since she was so outspoken and fearless, he didn't have the guts to go beyond harassing her. I was happy to see that she put up a real fight when she was getting kidnapped. THANK GOD she didn't go scream "bacahooo" as we see in many ITV dramas and just let them take her away.

Now that her environment has changed and has a real family to mingle with after her marriage, I am hoping that makers will show her character growth. She will gradually learn the value and importance of family. Just being outspoken and loud will not work all the time, especially with people you love and care about. At least, they kept her character flaws consistent with how she was raised. I would have found it a little weird and unbelievable if she had just become this obedient bahu in just two days of her marriage.

On a completely different note, Sai's character reminds me a lot of "Suhana" from "Sasural Genda Phool." It was my first ever drama, and I always see a glimpse of Shuhana and Ishaan in Sai and Virat in terms of how Ishaan calmly diffused Suhana's anger and childishness, just like Virat does with Sai. The characters are all poles apart, but they have a lot of similarities in how they handle their marital relationship.

I totally get that now that she has to live as a part of the family she will learn to navigate relationships better. For an ITV FL she is great. She holds her own and does not expect a knight in shining armor to take care of things for her. Viraat on the other hand has the "Knight in The Shining Armor Syndrome." Its part his IPS training and part how he is raised. That is where their personalities clash.

The show is also very progressive in some ways. Viraat standing up for Sai. Ashwini being an awesome MIL from get-go. The old overused traditions are used by they are challenged beautifully in the show.

I liked Suhana too and now that you mention it I can see the similarities between Sai and Suhana. The MIL played an important role in that show. Here is hoping Ashwini is up to the challenge.
