So all Maharashtrians are marathi and marathas are a marathi clan of Maharashtra.

Guys, Maratha is different from Marathi. Someone has clarified here, but again:

Maratha is a clan of people who hail from Maharashtra & were traditionally warriors.

There are other Maharashtrian clans & castes, including Brahmins such as (Joshis - prounounced with z for jh), Kolis (traditionally fisherfolk), etc.

Marathi is the native language spoken by all these people.

So there are Marathi-speaking Marathas like Virat or Marathi-speaking Brahmins like Sai, and others of course. They are all loosely labelled Marathi people.

Yes, her caste is different coz she is a Bhraman. For a lot of Maharashtrians, caste is a huge thing for marriage & taking the kuul forward, although it defo does not classify that you throw someone out of the house.

Marathi toh hai but anyone who is from Maharashtra can be classified as a Marathi/ Maharashtrian but MARATHAS are the RAJPUT equivalents.

Like everyone from Rajasthan is Rajasthani but just the Kshatriyas are RAJPUTS.

So Sai is a Maharashtrian but not a MARATHA because Joshi is a Brahmin surname and not a Maratha one.

If Sai is Brahmin, then she is in upper caste than Bhavani since Maratha is Kshatriyas. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the clarification....I thought Sai and Pakhi both are Maratha because of the wedding dress and rituals....Are they speaking in Marathi... I know their language is little bit different from Hindi but still I thought they speaking in hindi....🤔 ( I'm not from India)

Yeah, they are Maharashtrians and hence speak Marathi sometimes (it sounds different from Hindi but if you can read Hindi then you can read Marathi too as the writing style is somewhat same for both)...but mostly they speak hindi as its a Hindi show
