Sai not Maratha?

In today’s episode Bhavani says, Sai is not Maratha . I thought she is Maratha.

Sai is brahmin as per her last name Joshi .that means she is not from maratha warrior clan that's why Bhavani said that as per my thinking

Yep I too thought soo.isnt joshi a maharastrian surname

Joshi is a Brahmin surname, so not a Shahanakulli Maratha.

Marathi is a language. All those who speak Marathi language are Marathi people. Just like all those who speak Gujarati are Gujratis for non-Gujratis.

Maratha is group or a bunch of people who are part of Marathi people as they as well stay in Maharashtra, same way as maharashtriyan Brahmins, and others live in Maharashtra.

So, Sai is Marathi(Marathi speaking girl) not Maratha.

I think Maratha is some kind of cast name. May be Marathi Ratputs.

Maratha and marathi (maharashtrian) are not the same. Maratha is a caste. Every maratha is a maharashtrian but every maharashtrian is not a maratha. Sai is Joshi which is a brahmin surname.
