We can try that although 3 months might be too much for a book. Maybe we could choose IT for 1 month and discuss one third of the book and those who liked the book can continue with the book at their own pace.
A Stephen King book is most definitely going to be part of the book club very soon.
That works too!
Readers can give input whether they want to read more or start a new one
As much as I’d like to include IT as part of the book club (so that it would motivate me to read the book), it’s too massive a book to be read in a month.
Has anyone here read IT or any other book by Stephen King?
I have read only 2 of his books - Carrie & Pet Semetary. His writing is a little dense and takes a while to get into.
I agree. It's a very long book to be read in a monthly book club. His shorter ones can be selected, if everyone are interested.
I am really interested in reading Pet Semetary but I have read The Shining by him which in my opinion, is one of the best books I have read.
I’m glad you liked it. I liked how you wrote a review about the main theme of abandonment and what it does to you. The book is character driven rather than plot driven and you are right when you say that if you can’t connect to Kya the chances of liking the book are pretty less.
I have a couple of issues with the book which we will discuss at the end of the month.
If you go with my reading enjoyment, It might be a 4 or a 4.25. I was quite stressed during the time I was reading this book which may or may not have affected my enjoyment for those first 100 pages especially with the problems I had getting into the writing style etc. But, objectively I do think it is a powerful and well written story.
Interested to know your thoughts tho.
Anyway, Anam, what's the genre of the next pick?
My suggestion for next book is The Silent Patient😛
@Shreya: I gave the book 4 stars.
Next month’s genre is most likely a Feminist Classic.
@Unique.Sheep: I think at least 3 of us has read The Silent Patient.
Finally started where the crawdads sing
Its not as bad as I thought. The beginning was intriguing but the book requires a lot of focus and attention.
Im going to start reading again today. I hope I can finish it.
