Chapter 17

Meenakshi tried to concentrate on the files before her..

Since Abir took the reins of their companies day to day affairs Meenakshiii had withdrawn from the expanding business and concentrated on their parent company. The Rajvansh Travels.

Abir had expanded their Business to hospitality ..Hotels., tourism , destination weddings...

And she observed him from far..relaying advices when needed through Bapuji.. sharing his tensions in mind...

But now her tension was of different kind..

Was she right in sending Mishty alone..?.and the hard stare she received from Abir today morning relieved her at the same time disappointed her..

She expected Abir to berate her for sending Mishty alone...or tell Mishty not to go alone ...or.. arrange a driver for her... anything....

But he just heard everything and even before Mishty came down went away in a hurry..??!

Now Mishty is alone ..she doesn't know the streets even though she got the app and maps..

"He Ambe maa..Meri Mishty ka khayal rakhnaa"

She took her phone and tried the tracking app...and tensed again seeing her location at the Central Park....

Just then Parul entered Meenakshi' s room.

"Parul...acha hua tum aagayi..mein tumhein bulaane waali thi...mein Zara baahar jaa Rahi Hoon...tum Rajshri ka khayal rakhnaa..."

" Dii aap itne khabraye hue kyun hai..aab theek hai na?..mein bhi aajaoo.."

" Nahi Parul.. rajshri pareshaan ho jaayega..mein Mishty keliye pareshaan hoon. App mein uska location Central Park dikha Raha hai.kisi musibath mein phas gayi toh....Mujhe use lene jaana hai.."

Meenakshi hurriedly searched for her handbag..

" Dii...aap Zara Abir ka location check kijiye.."

Parul stopped Meenakshi.

" Abir... Kyu..Uski wajah se aaj Mishty kisi problem mein hai...Meri hi budhi bhram gayi thi ki Abir ko Mishty ka thoda toh fikr hoga...mujhse ladpade toh bhi theek hai lekin in donon ki dosthi phirse ho jaaye.."

" Haan Dii...Maine hi diya tha woh MetroCard ka idea...woh donon do din se kuch bhi baat nahi kii toh mujhe bhi laga humein kuch karni chahiye...

Lekin Dii aaap Meri baath nahi sun Rahi..aap phone mujhe do..."

Parul checked out Abir's personal phone location and with a broad smile gave ii to Meenakshi..

" Abir....Abiiirr... Central Park mein Hain!!?? Office mein nahi..??"

Meenakshiii asked in disbelief.

Parul nodded happily..

" Aur Mishty bhi uske saath Hain...ab safe hai yeh toh aapko specially toh nahi batana hai na..."

" Maa Ambe..."

Meenakshi exhaled in relief and sat down.

" Kunal ne abhi abhi bataya mujhe..

Bache aaj Abir ko surprise karna chahthe Hain...shayad Kal Kunal aur Mishty isi silsile mein baahar Gaye the..

Woh Abir ke patio pe Kuhu aur Kunal decorations Kar rahe Hain..."

" Sach mein..."

Meenakshiii couldn't believe her ears...

"Lekin Abir ..woh..uska koi bharosa nahi..Mana ab woh Mishty ki saath hai..lekin in donon ka bhi koi bharosa nahi hai na...Jane kisi baat pe lad pade toh...Abir use Ghar chodke Office Chala jaayega..."

" Nahi Dii..aap itna negative Kyu soch Rahi ho.. Mishty samajhdar ladki hai....Kunal ne Abir ko manaya hai ki woh Mishty ko kuch sight seeing karade...isiliye woh ab Central Park mein Hain...Kunal yeh bhi bataya ki donon 8 bake ke baad hi aayega...tab tak Mishty hi sambhalega Abir ko uske baad humein .."

" Maa Ambe...itne dinon ke baad Ghar mein haasi aur Khushi aane Wala Hain..aapka aashirwad banaye rakhna..."

Meenakshiis happiness knew no bounds..

" Mein rajshri ko yeh baat bataati Hoon...woh bhi Mishty ko lekar tension mein hoga..."

"Chalo Dii"

Parul too accompanied her.

As Abir stretched his legs leaning on to the rock beside the tree... cool wind breezed at them..

Both had packed the basket and now sat relaxing absorbing the calm and serenity offered by the nature..

Last night's insomnia was catching up with Abir...he tried to keep himself awake ..but the breeze outside and the contentment in his mind won the tug of war .His eyes closed slowly as he adjusted his frame,...

Mishty was aware of the tiredness displayed by Abir as she chatted away about Kuhu's antics in school,.....

His thick eye lashes dropping and opening...

The way his whole body tried to find a comfortable position....

And she admired him unabashedly as his body sagged against the rock.

The innocence of his stature brought back memories of their night at Greenville hospital...,

Mishty sat beside him.. taking a book from her bag...Kunal wanted them at home after 9...how to convince Abir.. with out making him suspicious...

Mishty was deep in thought.... but was distracted by Abir's discomfort...his search for an unknown support...

Mishty''s heart urged her to go to him..be his support...

Should I risk our newfound friendship again..her head questioned her heart...

Abir was feeling bone tired..as he slipped into a disturbed sleep...he thought of last night and all other nights when he was unable to sleep..and the cause was with him now and how he couldn't resist falling....

Mishty adjusted herself to sit comfortably when she saw Abir slump...

Before he could hit the rug Mishty was at his side... gently supporting him to lay down..at her lap..

Her heart was thudding erraneously..

Last time the torture was heartbreaking..his displeasure was evident .but then somehow he had mellowed...

Even her head sided with her heart this time....

Abir was Piya's...

She will be left alone with few memories...

May be these moments are the only memories she will be able to make with him...to give her contentment for a lifetime...

Her fingers threaded through his slightly long, thick black hair back and forth... and he smiled...

He smiled!!

Mishty's fingers froze....fear evident in her eyes...

But then Abir frowned...

She moved her fingers gently through his hair again and there...he snuggled and his face became the epitome of serenity...

Her eyes brimmed as her heart felt an incredible mixture of joy and sadness...

Abir stirred as he came awake slowly.. something was off...

OMG...I slept here..!!

He lifted himself on his elbow and looked at his pillow...

Mishty''s bag was arranged along with her jacket..to serve as his pillow....

Mishty....oh God!...he promised her sight seeing and now...

Nanu's scolding ringed in his ears..

" Gadheda kahin ka.."

Sach mein...

Mishty ke saath time spend karne ka mauka Mila....and he slept royally...she even made a pillow for him...

Lekin...Mishty kahaan hai???

He looked around and remained still...

He saw her....Inside an enclosed garden just below the slanting lawn he was laying down... playing with a group of toddlers...

He watched her as inexplicable mixture of feelings played out.. within him...

She was an absolute delight to watch..

The way she tickled the blonde kid and her response by plucking Mishty''s cheek..

The way she played catch-up with them...

Mishty sensed eyes on her...

She looked around casually and saw Abir aiming his camera at her..

Smiling she jogged up to him..

" You are awake..ache neend aaye kya."..

" Ab taana mat maaro..I am so sorry...tumhe bura laga hoga na.. ..Pata nahi..itna thakaan tha ....Now I feel refreshed... haven't slept like this in years actually.."

Mishty smilingly took her jacket and bag...and gave him his backpack..

" Ab Ghar chalna chahiye... it's going to be dark soon...time dekha hai Kya.."

Abir checked his backpack and retrieved a set of car keys..

Mishty eyed it surprisingly as Abir clarified..

" Woh Mark has left my car around here...Chalo dhoondthe Hain.."

Mishty knew from the signboards that they were not going home..not by taking this route..

"Abiir..ab.. Hi.hum kahhaan jaa rahe Hain.." she asked in her nonsense tone..

"Sorry Mishty...I ruined your sight seeing...lekin give one more chance to do it right..and the timing is perfect...I thought earlier we would just walk in the sun...but now you'll enjoy it to the fullest.."

Mishty was flabbergasted..

Kunal ne 9 baje tak Abir ko engaged rakhne ko kaha tha...and she was tensed as to how to do that...

Lekin yahaan toh Abir khud hi plans bana rahe Hain...

" Lekin.."

" Just a pit stop..."

Abir maneuvered his car into the parking lot of a Mall.

" Ab ek purchase aur....."

He ushered Mishty inside...

" Lekin batao toh sahi...tum itne suspense Kyu badhathe ho.."

Mishty was surprised when he entered the footwear section.

" You need comfortable shoes for walking ryt...give them your size ..and go freshen up.. washroom is that way..."

" Uh... thanks..."

She told her requirements to the person in charge..and sliding a look at Abir went out..

Mishty took long deep breaths as she finished her touch-up..

Every single minute she spent with him made her love him even more...

Every cell of her being was aware of him... alert about him...

And his happiness....it just flowed out of him ... giving so much happiness to her..

Abir was waiting for her with a selection of pairs of shoes..

Mishty chose one pair fast..and put it on...Abir paid and turned to Mishty.

" Ab chale..."

"Yeah...now it's perfect..."

" Are we going to Brooklyn bridge..?"Mishty asked and Abir nodded.

She had checked their location and suspected as much..

" And the timing is perfect...you can see the city come alive .both day and night views.."

Mishty's hands clutched Abir's arms in wonderment as he pointed out the beautiful orange skyline....

As they walked back the city lights glowed as fireflies...city coming to life.into a. vibrant night..

"Mishty Tum aagayi..!!..how was the college?..class kab se Hain.? And tell me alll...

Kuhu bombarded Mishty with questions as Abir and Mishty walked into the Hall..

"Kuhu... Kuhu..abhi Sab jaanna hai kya...sab theek tha .Time se batate hai na..chal..."

Mishty tried to drag Kuhu with her...

But Kuhu was not budging...

" Abir Bro..aapne toh Mishty ki bolti hi band ki hai...aisa Kya Kiya... She used to give lectures on academics.. school...college... library... debate club aisa vaisa....ki mein kaan band karke bhi nahi Bach paati...aaj toh mein pooch Rahi Hoon toh ...dekha time se batayenge..."

Kunal laughed.."academics and you Kuhu...obvio..kan toh tu pehle hi sentence par switch off Kiya hoga.. Mishty.iski appointment ka Kya hua.."

Abir interrupted.

"Kuhu...main batata hoo na..humne tumhara medical certificate submit Kiya..aur next week tumhara interview Hain..aur Kunal iska lateral entry iski scholarship ki wajah se hua hai...

Kuhu ko Tum Kam mat samajhna...."

Abir patted Kuhu appreciatively...

" Haan...Abir bro..sirf aapko Meri value Pata hai...Poora din Maine Kunal ka help Kiya..aur yeh Sila Mila...Ouch..!!"

Kuhu looked at where she got pinched ...

Kunal glared at her .

Meenakshiii and Parul came to the hall...and Abir's eyes fell on them.

Just then Kuhu realized what she was going to blurt out..Kunal's eyes showed exasperation as Kuhu bit her tongue and her hand surreptitiously went to her ear.. pleadingly..

Mishty hurried to her Chotimaa..

"Chotimaa..I am sorry.."

Meenakshi stopped her and hugged her...

"It's okay beta...in fact I am happy that You were not alone and had time to see some sights..."

Mishty looked at her in surprise..

" Kunal ne bataya Mishty..."

Parul smiled..

Abir was feeling uncomfortable at the scene before him...

" Mein massima se milkar aata Hoon..." Abir turned to Rajshris room..but stopped and asked Kunal..

" Nanko ..Tum keh rahe the ki.farewell rehearsals...dance practice..songs steps... .what??."

" Haan Bhai...jaa hi Raha tha...Mishty ka wait Kar Raha tha na..woh Kuhu usi help Ki bare mein keh rahi thi.....woh songs sab Mishty se bhi discuss kartha hoo..aur phir chaltha hoo... Mishty Chalo..."

Abir's eyes flamed for fraction of a second as they caught sight of the way Kunal put hand on Mishty''s shoulders in a partial hug and pulled her along..

He averted his eyes in haste...as that flame burned down to his heart...

His..legs moved mechanically to Rajshri's room.

Kunal turned and signalled Kuhu...to follow Abir..and Kuhu nodded fast..

" Abir bro... Mein bhi aati hoo...Mishty toh busy hogayi..aap hi bataana"..

Meenakshiii and Parul stood as silent spectators of how Kunal and Kuhu were managing Abir.. suppressing their laughter with great difficulty..

"Kunal...."

Mishty had released herself from his hold by the time they reached her room.She was about to blast him for putting her in a tough position today..

" Mishty beta..."

Nanu's hush hush voice stopped her ...

"Nanu...Aap..!?.."

She bent to take his aashirwad...

" Aap aise khusphus Kyu Kar rahe ho?"

Mishty asked in wonderment..

Kunal imitated Nanu....

" Nanu is on duty...... balcony ka pehredaar..I.mean watchman."

" Chup nalaayak...! Waise yeh theek bol Raha hai... balcony ka ifaazath karne ka pehla shift Mera hai..! Woh Gadheda aa Raha hai Kya...neeche Meenu se Lada toh nahi na"

" Woh Massima ke pass hai...aur abhi Tak WW3 hua nahi...Kuhu bhai ke saath hai...Pata nahi Sab abhi Tak ugal Diya hoga..Nanu...aap tayar rehna...Bhai fresh hojaaye toh directly unhe dinner keliye lekar aana"

Kunal explained the plan..

" Acha..tum iski role batadiya Kya?"Nanu asked Kunal pointing at Mishty..

Mishty..looked confused..." Ab Kya karna hai..?"

" Tumhe second shift hai...mein ya nanu unke kamre mein zyaada time rahe toh unhe odd lagega..aur ek problem bhi hai...12 O clock sharp lights on karna hai ..par balcony ka switch ander Hain..."

Kunal made a sad face...

"Mein..kya Kar sakthi hoo....mujhe Kya karna hoga...?"

Mishty looked at Nanu in dread...

" Nahi...beta..tum daro math...hum Hein na tumhare saath...Parul tumhara dinner yahi pe leke aayegi...tum fresh ho jao jaldi..dinner khaalo aur Abir ke room mein chup jaao.."

Nanu said with ease and a twinkle in his eyes...
