No family don't have the rights. Unless the person is declared mentally incapacitated to take own decisions he/she has the right to his/her own treatment. Thats the legal aspect. Also the history is taken from patient. Not from every family member. Bipolar doesn't fit the criteria of losing autonomy.

He is incapacitated according to everyone, Rhea is taking in charge and Siddhart Pitani is the one who is giving him the medicines.

If that was the case, which I doubt because you need to be evaluated based on specific criteria to actually be declared mentally incapacitated, he could have designated Rhea, or others prior to becoming incapacitated. The doctors would have to respect his wishes.

Before telling us about mental illness and giving awareness, please go & tell that to the person who was giving him the medicines because he couldn't even tell properly if he was terribly sick. Plus he did not even tell his sister when she came to visit to give him medicines.

Your job or duty first is to educate the people around him & then you come to us.

So called therapist is a clinical psychologist and not a Psychiatrist 🤣🤣🤣 also for bipolar disorder, nobody goes to a psychologist. This forum is full of idiots who think medicines don't help depression, think bipolar disorder can be cured with counselling. This is the problem with google generation

Yo here I come, masters degree in clinical psychology, so appalled by the lack of awareness of mental illness that I am compelled to tell the world about three symptoms of bipolar disorder. With all my experience, I was able to do so much deep analysis of his mental disorder that I could only say Sushant was in a "terrible" condition in Trump's vocabulary. Nevermind though because I was busy observing and making conclusions about his partner angel Rhea who seemed like a mother India to Sushant, and hence I spoke two paragraphs on Rhea's great character not what I was actually supposed to be doing with my training i.e, spreading awareness about mental illness.

Psychologists don't have a medical degree nor can they dispense medications

Aren't the family denying he had any mental issues. He can't be declared mentally unfit based on the fact he was being given medicines by someone else since he was taking them voluntarily . Partners/family generally do take over the responsibility of giving medicines in such cases and making sure patients are taking them. Patients can stop taking medicines if they wish to and no one can force them- no doctor or family/partner. I believe Sushant did stop taking his meds eventually towards the end.

Do bipolar patients not undergo CBT or some other form of therapy?
