Currently watching The Mentalist, quite a gripping, humorous and well acted drama. Seems like Hollywood CID, but CID when it was good.

Grown Ups: Okay judge me as much as you guys want, but I really liked this and laughed out loud several times. And if there is Salma Hayek, it is paisa wasool anyways.

The Man in The High Castle: Watching this show one episode per day, as it is quite slow, and is not something you can watch in one go. The show is quality, like brilliant till now(Season 2). I am still confused though it is science fiction or alternative history or both.

Knives out: Sorely disappointed, typical who done it mystery but not well executed, None of the actors made a mark nor did the story connect.

PIZZA ( Tamil), recently saw it again, what a fantastic horror thriller, this one has to be watched with headphones to get the spooky effect even more. But really a wonderful one time watch. It's available on Prime

Gitanjali ( Malayalam): Again a who done it mystery with horror mixed into it. Sunny who played the famous psychiatrist in Manichitrathazhu ( Bhool Bhulaiya in Hindi) appears again to solve this case. One time watch. It's about 2 sisters, one of whom dies and the other sister is all set to get married but when she visits her house and village once, she encounters her sister's spirit and what happened to her is the mystery.

Troop Zero: What a fantastic movie about standing tall no matter how much you are a misfit in the society or do not have any chances, how much you are ridiculed and mocked, believe in yourself and stand tall and be proud of your individuality. beautiful movie about 5 kids who are absolute misfits but have dreams like any other child. This is a must-watch, beautifully taken, well-acted. It takes you to the deep south in poor less privileged areas. Loved it 8/10

Watched Bhagra Paa Le

Soundtrack was invigorating and story was decent. I didn't think it was anything too much out of the ordinary but the parallel lovestory of the youngster in current day and his grandparents back in the day was a treat to watch 👏

Laila Majnu (2019)

Finally, an Imtiaz Ali script that was executed well, and a story that was done justice to. (maybe because Imtiaz himself wasn't the director..)

Two things about this film that make it good.

#1 - The acting. Avinash Tiwary. Take a bow. What a fine actor! Esp the last half hour. So so fine.

Tripti Dimri - Totally see the spark. Great screen presence, confidence. More polishing and she'll go places.

#2 - The story. Loved that they divided the film into two halves; Laila & Majnu. The characters were flawed people who I could connect to and see where they're coming from, which is rare in stories written by Imtiaz Ali (apart from Socha Na Tha and Jab We Met). It also flowed well.

Bulbbul (2020)

I dare say this is a flawless film. Such a hard-hitting story, executed perfectly from start till the end. The film created a world that drew me in. They set up the mood perfectly.

Some of the most stunning cinematography & camera work I've seen in a long time.. hats off!

The actors, what do I say. Tripti Dimri, you are fine! Performance of the year, and some of the best acting I've seen from a BW female lead in a long time. She clearly polished herself after Laila Majnu. I'm so proud of her. She is stunning, has amazing screen presence and is such a fine actress.

Avinash Tiwary proved himself in Laila Majnu, but oh, he was so fine here as well, even though his role was short. It was memorable, and poignant.

Rahul Bose, this man surprised me. This is easily his finest performance to date. So so good!

This is a film everybody should watch.

Penguin ( Tamil Movie): disappointing. It's a thriller, visually stunning, with the typical serial killer who abducts kids and kills.

The lead character, Rhythm a 7-month pregnant woman loses her 7-year-old, she still believes he is alive and finds him at the most shocking state and events unfold leading up to who done it.

The execution failed big time especially with the lead character showing complete lack of common sense and even irresponsible at times putting everyone around her in danger.

disappointing effort 6/10

I do not understand Telugu but watched a nice Telugu movie a couple of days ago

Brochevaruevarura ( Telugu) ( Amazon Prime): It's a fun comedy thriller. Loved the movie, unique styling, funny, tight screenplay. The 2nd half is more thriller-like and the first half is a good build-up to it. Everyone played their roles really well. No unnecessary songs, unnecessary romance scenes. Just a clean fun comedy thriller movie, a good one time watch 8/10
