This one is a better example. They did well with the pronunciation of Dari 'imon-eh delem woy woy, oh janneh mani, aushiq shudom woy woy'. The accent is on point too.

Wow, that increases Bhansali's credibility for me. The beats remind me of lewa music from Pakistan for some reason.

Since you seem to have some knowledge of Farsi, can you please tell me how is Arijit's diction in this song? I enjoy listening to it but was curious about it's pronunciation.

Dari is my mother tongue and is basically Farsi except for differences in some words and accents. I listened to Binte-dil again. It is a whole heap of a mix between Urdu, Farsi & Arabic. When Arjit says 'pesh hai kull khidmat Ali Janab' - almost spot on since he did pronounce the 'khh' in Khidmat quite well (which a lot of people not used to the language REALLY have trouble with). Depending on the accent, Khidmat is mostly pronounced as Khedmat by Afghans. So if I were to nitpick, 'Khedmat-eh ali janab' would have been more authentic.

Aatish kada aadaon se @53 seconds had an obvious accent. Fire is pronounced as 'Autesh' not 'Aatish'.

BUT I have to give credit to SLB. He did really well with the beat in that Afghan song - because that is how tribal afghan music can sound. Ranveer's afghan dance was really REALLY well done - though afghans all have difference dancing styles but he depicted a drunk afghan man dancing really well. Also in Binte-Dil, the way Ranveer danced in the bathtub was extremely well-choreographed. Iranian/Afghan dance is very focused on those hand movements and he ACED that. LITERALLY.

Though only issue with Bhansali was his depiction of Afghans was really bad. A lot of our parents were pissed off at the way he presented us. But that's another topic all together 😆

Thank you so much for spending time to review it. Appreciate it!

The word for hospitality is khidmat in Urdu. Similarly in Urdu, fire is called Aatish. So they chose to pronounce them in that version I guess.

Believe me there were SO many things highly problematic with that movie. 🤢👎🏼 I hate Bhansali for all that, and yet appreciate the beauty he brings to celluloid.

I see at times when I am just hearing the song that the pronunciation is different and even some lyrics cannot be understood probably because of the bad pronunciation, especially English words. When I heard the song "Lose Control", I had to Google the song to get to know what words were actually English as earlier I thought they were Hindi 🤣

I’m referring to the movie. SLB had Khiji be portrayed as an Afghan man - set in 13th century Afghanistan.

In any case, Khilji was a monster, plunderer, a mass murderer.
