@Meera: YES! I would love more time spent on the Kuhu-Ketu bond, especially with that mention that Ketu wanted to go into business with her. I can so see the two of them being a kick-ass team and Ketu being the one to knock sense into Kunal's head when he acts obtuse.
I so enjoyed that little touch in the grihapravesh sequence when Ketu says she has to figure out a new name for Mishti because she already calls someone else Bhabs. ❤️
@Aqua: Love it! It's like you fleshed out the skeleton I offered up. 😃 I would still like to keep them on amicable terms, though. Sheetal knows a thing or two about emotional distancing because she had to decouple from her husband of many years. It's not necessarily that they didn't love each other but their marriage, in that joint family set up was just unsustainable and made them both unhappy and unfulfilled.
I also really like the details you added to her interactions with Kuhu. I think she sort of secretly ships it, heart of hearts but she definitely expects Kunal to step up and take ownership and convinces Kuhu that she deserves that at the very least. She validates her decision to stop fighting the divorce as long as Kunal doesn't make it absolutely clear that he wants her around.
She's seen a lot of cases and after she hears Kuhu's whole story in detail, sees no reason these two shouldn't have a perfectly successful marriage if only their families would give them some space and time to figure things out. They both have similar values, goals, and priorities. It would be a pity, she thinks to herself, to see that compatibility go to waste. But her first priority is to help Kuhu see this divorce as an opportunity rather than a failure, a chance to undo the lifelong conditioning that marriage is all their is to life. That way, if Kunal does come around, she knows how to fight for her rights in the relationship, but if he doesn't Kuhu has options other than returning to her maika and facing the shaming there.
I had dozed off after typing out the kahaani but I am back now. Successfully stayed off IF till now because nobody is online during the day and I hate it when nobody responds because life me validation chahiye thoda🙈
@Bold-1: Dil ki baat keh di!!
@Bold-2: Yes, I realised. That is why I put in the mutual divorce thing. I am loving this character that we're building. She has already become a part of the canon in my head.
@Bold-3: I have a different opinion here. Actually, not really different. I can't think of another word except for delayed. I guess you'll understand what I am trying to say aage because I'm going to build up the whole thing🤪.
So, in my imagination, she hears Kuhu's side of the story but does not ship them in the first meeting. She hears the full story and even though, it sounds a bit horrible to her that a guy did this to Kuhu, she tries to keep a neutral and professional mindset. She sees that Kuhu clearly still loves him but in her mind, she is unable to fathom why, until she meets him. Maybe this second meeting takes place with both the lawyers after she has told Kuhu that they would both have to stay together for 3 more months over the phone. She apologizes saying that she knows it must be really difficult but since Kuhu didn't want to file for fraud, she will have to stay till the 6-month period ends. She asks Kuhu again if she is still sure about not going through with the fraud case. Kuhu says she is sure, thanks her, tells her that she will speak to Kunal and get back to her and cuts the call.
The meeting takes place at Sheetal's office because Kunal doesn't want to inconvenience Kuhu, obviously because he feels very guilty. Sheetal meets the two along with Lawyer Kedia. The meeting goes through very peacefully in which they discuss the 3 month grace period and any other formalities and rules. Sheetal brings up the topic of Kuhu wanting to set up her own event management company in the future as Kuhu had told her in their last call/meeting. She decides to bring it up to test the waters as she had faced a lot of backlash in her personal life. She says something along the lines of, "Ab since we covered all the common points, I would like to discuss one more thing. Kuhu mujhe bata rahi thi ki you never wanted your wife to really work because you have a stable and a good source of income and Indian households me waise bhi gharwaalo ko ladkiyon ka kaam karna pasand nahi hota hai." Kunal tries to interject saying that she is making judgements without knowing him. To which she replies, "You're right. I don't really know you and hum pehli baar mil rahe hain but what I just said is true, right?" Kunal's speechless expression validates her claim and she goes on to say, "Ab since you guys have taken the decision to separate, Kuhu does not wish to remain dependent on you or her family. She wishes to pursue a career in event management and I am discussing this in our meeting because I hope this doesn't become an issue in your household. She has expressed the desire to not hurt either family in this remaining time frame and it is my responsibility as her lawyer to help her out in smoothing out any kinks in the process till this divorce is final. So, I hope that Kuhu setting up her own firm will not create any issues but I want to know from you if there is any precautions we should take care of." (The dialogues became a little messy but I hope the feeling was conveyed🙈🙈).
*Imagine guilty and mellow Kunal that we saw when he apologized to Kuhu after MishBir GD*
Kunal thinks and tells her that Meenakshi would be a little reluctant but it can be done if they ease out the process on her. He says that even though this would require a lot of patience but he is confident that by the time they separate, Kuhu would have a firm of her own. The lawyer says okay and she tells Kuhu that she has a few contacts which could help her gain a bit of experience. Kunal interrupts them and says to kuhu that if she doesn't mind, he can help her with the financial and business aspects. Kuhu says she will think about it. The meeting gets over and Kunal and Mr Kedia leave for their respective offices.
Sheetal who had been carefully observing Kunal and Kuhu throughout the meeting realises why Kuhu still likes Kunal so much and she can also see that Kunal likes her too but he will probably never take this equation further because of all the guilt. Kuhu asks Sheetal if taking his help would be a good idea. Sheetal says it's totally up to her. Kunal seems to be a good businessman and it makes sense to take his help but she still has residual feelings and Sheetal is concerned that it might lead to another heartbreak but things could work out if Kuhu maintains a professional relationship with him. And that's that.
Sooooo, what do you think???😛
