I do agree that Devraj is dropping the ball in parenting Shravan in some ways....but yes, it's also true that every household has a different parenting style. Shravan's family is more old school typical businessman punjabi family. In such families, the father figure's job is simply to earn and provide and in return he expects that his children atleast study hard and get good jobs.
Devraj in particular is more driven by wanting his son to be a source of pride for him in the society where he lives. But invariably Shravan ends up making him feel ashamed by getting into trouble. Instead of trying to find the root cause or communicate with his son, Devraj's approach is to scold and berate him. He thinks he can shame and emotionally blackmail Shravan into becoming responsible....lol many parents try this. But it works even less on today's generation. They have different triggers.
Col Tiwari is a more forward thinking and perceptive parent. I find it interesting that even though he only has a daughter, he is able to understand a son like Shravan pretty well. In some ways, maybe Shravan will become the son he never had.
I don't really think that the child inside Suman has been killed....yes her life has been a bit restricted compared to some of her peers but she is quite a happy girl and I don't think her life has been any less simply because she isn't partying as much as her peers. Ofcourse it's good to see her go out and explore more but I think it's nice that she is self-confident regardless. There is a difference between boundaries and repression. Suman's life has had some boundaries but I don't think she has been repressed by her family.
