Destroying a legacy of their own!!!!

There have been many reboots & remakes in cinema & TV. Mahabharata, Ramayana, Comics based movies, epic Novel based movies, remakes of popular movies of all time & they have been able to replicate the success, thanks to brilliant writing that have come again & again, even with the same central plot.

No one thought anyone could beat Nolan-Ledger's Joker until Phoenix-Todd's Joker came. No one thought Batman could ever be made so dark by Nolan. No one thought Mahabharat can again rule over people's hearts after its 80s version. And the list is gigantic.

This reboot, remake of KZK has literally destroyed the legacy that show held. The reason this version got its audience in its first place was because of that legacy. Legacy of original content, characters that were way ahead of its time when they first came on screen.

A woman pregnant before wedding was never seen before when it happened way back in 2001. A villian like Komolika had never happened before 2001. A grey character like Bajaj had not happened in a TV show in such a way before 2001. Neither did they show a couple like Anurag-Prerna before who gave many dynamics to one relationship- as lovers, as enemies, as married couple & then as parents. Neither did they show a couple like Bajaj-Prerna- as name sake couple, as evolving relationship that also evolved the characters in it. Despite the show running for 8 years, despite it ruining the TV with its stretched, melodramatic, stereotyping, it did enjoy an unparalleled fame.

I don't know why did EK decide to reboot that show up in 2018 when there could be so many stories. She has been the Queen after-all. A lot of brilliant first-time shows came from her. She did take risks to spread into different genres- Kitni Mohabbat Hai (Far from Saas-Bahu melodrama, a beautiful show about 2 individuals love & suffering), Pyaar Ki Yeh Ek Kahaani (an Indian version of Twilight which was good for a teenager in 2010 looking to break Indian TV monotony), web- shows like Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain, Bose, Testcase & so many others. She knows her art without doubt but it fails to make sense to me as to why would she reboot KZK up with such horrendous & loud version- be it dresses, plot, background & what not.

I never saw the original Kasauti but from the clips I have seen so far, I can tell that things were way subtle & organic in that version that it have ever been in this one.

They destroyed their lead heroine beyond repair. They have destroyed their iconic vamp with such extravaganza given to her. They destroyed the improved version of Bajaj beyond repair. They destroyed what AnuPre & BajPre could be separately. Prerna's sacrifice didn't look sacrifice. Love looked more toxic that innocent & pure that it was in 2000s. While it could work in 2000s, 2019 is not the era to celebrate toxic relationships in our entertainment. This reboot could be anything, with a completely new plot, a new characterization, instead of picking things from Season 1 diligently & then treating them in a trashy way.

It makes me all the more upset because leads in this show had a much better role to play in their last show. Erica had a brilliant female lead role as Sonakshi that will always stay relevant & classy. Parth played Manik, a great deviation from usual bad boys. He was in perfect sense a grey character as an individual with his own ups & down. The character had evolution with everything he faced. Komolika could be a turning point for any actress who had played it, but they chose to turn her completely psychotic & more stupid. Finally Bajaj had a brilliant start this season. He had everything in place- the mystery, the intriguing backstory, the dialogues. After Prerna, Bajaj is the character that has been butchered for what it was & what it could be as individual character. While a lot of people can call this show evolution of actors with these characters, I don't have the same opinion. For me, on a personal level it has been the devolution as actors & characters. This role may have given them more fame that they always deserved, more opportunities & avenues for their bright future, but it makes my heart sad to see their potential being wasted like this in a non-existent plot & story.

Writers are the heart & soul of a show. The reason we love Sonakshi-Manik is because writers did a fantastic job. The way Bajaj consumed me in the initial days was because he was written perfectly back then. But here, writers just don't get it. I don't think we lack good writers in a country this big. How badly can a bad writer screw things up can be best seen with the way GOT turned out in the last 2 seasons.

I don't agree when the show makers decide to pin it on the viewers by saying that we want this sort of stuff. Viewers deserve better for the time & love they invest in a story & the characters. Pinning self-incompetence on viewers by undermining their intelligence wouldn't do any good to anyone of us & is intellectual dishonesty of the writers with self. It just serves to continue with the cycle of temporary success & inevitable doom while they continue to wonder & experiment at the cost of plot & characters & their potential.

This show is failing again & again while viewers keep on clinging on to tiny plank of hope for a better & engaging plot. Shows & movies can be tremendously success without OTT drama in today's times. The entire entertainment industry is undergoing an overhaul at this point- from cheesy, unrealistic to realistic movies & engaging, unique shows. Ye Un Dino, Ladies Special, Patiala Babes, KRPKAB, Beyhadh & so many others. I don't see why should EK not go for an overhaul in TV content. EK is still capable of making brilliant shows which can be seen with the kind of shows web-platform has.

This reboot should have never happened. Erica-Parth could have come together in a show in a completely new plot & it would have still worked & that would have atleast been more engaging because it wouldn't have had an original plot & characters to compare too constantly that subconsciously pales everything about this version in comparison. This version just destroys a legacy of its own. Some shows shouldn't be touched ever. EK proved it with this one.

I agree with everything. Your one line 'This reboot should have never happened' is what I am currently feeling for over last few months. I was not there for the start. After knowing of Bajaj's entry - the one thing nobody can deny the actual OG fans of Kasauti and normal audience at home were waiting for since the announcement of the show- I binge watched all the episodes and was appalled by how regressive the show was.

Prerna's career was an important part in the first Kasauti atleast initially.. here.. nothing. There is nothing remotely similar to Shweta's Prerna the firebrand OG Prerna.

Anurag Basu was good in the first episodes,so muted,soft spoken and I found Parth such a good fit. Then he just completely changed.. the practical mindset took a backseat. He's supposed to be this shy,soft spoken,assertive young man. The current Anurag Basu is well.. lol. The man Anurag was,he would have never degraded Prerna to such an extent.

And Bajaj 😆 What to say. Brilliant backstory,good dialogues but made him bicker with the likes of young men like Anurag and made him fumble like a kid.. Still a huge question mark on why he likes Prerna so much 😆 I feel bad for Ronit Roy somehow. Karan choro uski bhi izzat nahi rakhi CVS ne.

In all,this reboot is a HUGE FLOP. An iconic show is barely getting numbers in its 1+ years while OG KZK entertained us for years. LITERALLY YEARS. I feel special type of amusement when I see numbers of other SP shows 😆

You said it..please mail it to balaji. I keep hoping that one day I will wake up to the news of kzk2 shutting down.

When the reboot announcement came, my family was like a buzzing beehive. My granny, my mom, my chachis all started going down the nostalgia lane to gush about their favorite characters, couples, dialogues and even the soundtracks that have been played in the original version. The neighboring aunties and chachis joined in and it became a hornet's nest very soon.

The fact that a mere Show could connect people in such a deep, emotional level, that too so many years after it has gone off air was what piqued my interest in the Show at the first place. Parth and Erica became the additional stimuli to watch it. But alas!!! I won't either have any fond narrative or cherish-worthy memory of the Show to share with the generation after me. I can't say Anurag was a wonderful lover, I won't be able to say Prerna is the epitome of women empowerment and neither will I be able to tell anyone that Bajaj is an intriguing character bordering on the darkest shade of grey.

Does that hurt? Oh yeah!!! it does... like a bi*ch.

Prerna of season one was stupid for me at initial stages but still one could connect with her stupidity also that was her age(19 to 25 year of Prerna ) to act stupid yet be innocent sometime and Shweta use to show all this beautifully through her expressions be it any stage or age of Prerna's life and this was also one main reason that audience could relate to her character . Growth process of her character was shown beautifully in season one. Here sorry to say be it writers or actress were not able to do justice for this iconic character.Her character was spineless for me here and no growth at all in character .

Bajaj character here was badly ruined for me.Which makes me feel hurt and bad .Start was good like you mentioned above but later it kept going down and down .Makers were heavily relaying on season one RB legacy and thought it will work here but sadly it did not even me being die hard fan of Rishabh Bajaj of season 1 couldn't fall in love very deeply like i did in previous season .There was always something missing and whatever little I loved was Karan who was amazing as Bajaj and no doubt in his acting abilities he was perfect for Bajaj's role but sadly he was stuck in wrong creative team this time who couldn't handle the character of Bajaj nor the actor like Karan and I hope he has said permanent good bye to this 2rs show .He deserve much better show where makers know his abilities and use it in right way .

Komolika was one sassy,classy villain .Even now people remember her entry and tracks on her (Urvashi was amazing ) but this season they just turned her into joker right from looks to character and same they will do with new komolika also no doubt 😆

This season is biggest flop ..Just because of her stupid ego Ekta is still running this show and nothing else .Ekta need to stop this remake and stop insulting fans of previous show who watched it then and are watching it even now for the memories , love they have for the characters and it's insult to those iconic characters like Bajaj , PRB and insult to previous actors ,Jodi who played those roles but also to present talented actor like Karan .

She knows the business more than the art unlike Gul who is really creative and did directing, writing, composing, lyrics, producing all too great.

Ekta is overrated like many people like Lata M, Amitabh B. I think there r diff. types of artists..one alone shudn't be given all credit that too based on quantity and majority and popularity.

On y the KZK reboot - ppl still talk about Bajaj, Komolika, Prerna - Bajaj, Prerna - Anurag..she noticed it and wanted to cash on it..that is y.

Wow, I have a completely different view from all of you guys..almost feels like we watched two different shows....

There is nothing about Season 1 that I liked apart from prem/mukti track. Well Ok I liked Anupre1 till Anu married Komo and moved on so easily...From then on I didn't like the story at all...I think it was a big mess with a lot of back and forth of the male lead characters in and out of the show and in case of Anu with new face change at the latter stages and all those children and wives and their stories.....Frankly I hated I was forced to watch that show because at the time it was always on during our dinner time and mom used to watch it.

I'll agree that if we disregard the names, the story has actually been different this time and could easily have been pitched as a new show altogether. I think the only similarity is that of Anu the character....I liked Anu1 too....BUT this time I ADORE the sightly different treatment of Anu2 from the start and the charm that Parth the actor has brought to the character. And I love the Basu family. Even Moh and Moloy has a charm to them and Moloy's equation with his children and Pre is beautiful. (BTW today's Moloy scene at the hospital with Pre, Anu, Pam and Moh was so beautiful...reminded me of the times before Anukom marriage when things were good in the show.

And I love Pre2 the character too till Bajaj track. I love Anupre2 too because they have stuck to loving each other despite their stupidity and circumstances.

And whatever happens in future I would still from time to time go back and watch the first 9 months of this season before Bajaj's entry...because of Anurag and Anupre....

Just like I watch Prem/mukti track from season1.

So for me, I find the current season way better because of Anurag and Anupre.....The rest is inconsequential. Maybe I even subconsciously treat this as a different story anyways...but the entrance of Bajaj and shows hints to start something between Prejaj nearly ruined this season for me too...

I don't know what's in store for future, but for now I'll still take my chances even with this current not so innocent Anurag and the muted Pre.....I'm looking forward to the revival of these characters to their former glory of before Bajaj's entry. I know stupid of me to expect anything from these CVs, but even the current form of these two characters be chalega...as long as they can keep the essence of Anupre loving each other no matter what and no third angle getting anything from them. They can remain single and unmarried or whatever. I don't mind. I just want to see them in love and fighting for each other till the end.

I watched some epis after kzk 2 started and wow..be it Prerna, Anurag, Bajaj, Komolika individually or Anupre or Prerish or the simple daily life dialogues or Shweta's expressions or her voice modulation which reminded me of my fav. Madhuri.

The writing of KZK 1 or any show of 2000s was very different and so strong and real.

Ekta caught from SSK that ppl loved Naagin episodes, Makki episodes and it boost highest TRP of that show..she made it a complete show basking on the concept...ppl always love such things.
