War Records Highest Sunday Of 2019

War had excellent collections on Sunday as it recorded the highest Sunday of the year beating the near 30 crore nett of Saaho (hindi). War will collect around 35.5-36 crore nett on Sunday which is growth of over 30% from Saturday. There has been 50% growth in mass circuits like CP Berar and CI.

The film has done very well to get over the 35 crore nett mark considering the collections on Friday were in the 21 crore nett range. The extended day weekend of the film will be 158 crore nett apprx. Bharat was the other big release to have a five day weekend and that film collected 140 crore nett over five days. So it has a 18 crore nett lead over that film in the first five days.

The film now can take the advantage of Dusshera on Monday evening and Tuesday and by that time it should be the highest NETT grosser of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. The ticket rates will go down to normal rates of Monday but it will be back to weekend rates on Tuesday for the Dusshera holiday.

The first week which will end on Tuesday will be a huge one and will be among the top ten of all time but it is an holiday week and it will be Wednesday which will probably tell at which level this film goes forward. The extended holiday weekend has ensured the film is a HIT and it has crossed the likes of Kesari , Total Dhamaal, Saaho and Super 30 in just five days.

Our family watches just 3-4 movies a year. After Saaho's trailer was released, there was plans to watch Saaho. But seeing tired Prabhas in Saaho's song dampened the sprit. Then War movie trailer got released. We knew what we are going to watch, irrespective of review.

Just gave the background to say how ordinary families (not fans) watch movies. When movie starts attracting commoners, expect it to go much above "hit" range.

According to me, occupancy was more than what I have witnessed for Dangal. (I have not gone for Bhai movies or recent SRK movies). I suppose, overseas collection of the movie must be good.

Movie review: Cannot say anything extra. Yes, Hritik's swag is something only to be experienced. Also Hritik-Tiger chemistry. (Strangely I got reminded of KKKG and Sharukh-Hritik. I know, that was a family drama. But just considering star powers. Hritik here stands in Sharukh's position as an established star. Tiger is younger generation's favourite. Already he is getting another movie franchise).

First time in Bollywood, I saw a sexy male lead with Salt and pepper look. Even though Ajith has sported it in Tamil, he did not have Hritik's body. Hritik really brought Hollywood to us. Also his earlier movie characters used to have vulnerable side to them. But this one was pure alpha male. Film looked quite refreshing with total action. Though I am not a an action movie fan, I just liked it because it was sincere in its effort, in its genre.

Felt a bit sad about Vaani. She had really put hard effort in learning all those dance moves. But she hardly got any time in movie. People can't remember her much after the movie. It is mainly Hritik, Tiger and action.

It stands at $6.5 million after the extended weekend. Target for highest this year thus far is Bharat with $11 million. Will be easily crossed by the next weekend.

PS. Would have been much, much higher if not for Telugu movies reach in North America. Helluva collections despite the clash with Megastar’s movie in overseas.
