I understand your POV, but Reducing this to a Woman sympathy card is also a hard sell.
I think Prerna gets so much flak because she is an impossible character to empathize with. Also, Prerna as a character has been the least developed of the main three, and mostly there is no solid reasoning behind her actions, which makes her hard to understand. She has a god complex, her need to make decisions for herself and others in the process without consulting anyone or explaining herself, or without any real need to, is hard to sympathize with.
Right from day 1, Prernas actions have been on shaky ground. She hid the truth about Sharma Nowas and wanted to marry Naveen for it. But frankly speaking, it wasn’t her call to make, since the house wasn’t even hers! It was her parents and she should have said the truth. Even with mr. Bajaj, she should told someone the truth, ideally Basus and let Mohini, the mother or someone else decide what is to be done. SHE took it upon herself to take the deal marriage. Since then, mr. Bajaj has actually helped her, and defended her, but we don’t see any development of her making Progress in her marriage. Then, now, she back tracks to romance her ex lover, even to whom she hasn’t said anything about her child.
Can you see where I am going with this, and potentially why a certain section of the forum members and audience find her an epically bewildering character?
I remember a romance novelist saying that in a romance novel, if the female lead isn’t likeable, people find it hard to finish the book. I think it’s the same here, P is just an unlikeable person, maybe because the creatives didn’t understand or didn’t want to repeat the Prerna from Season 1. But a poorly written female lead has never worked on ITV, and the ratings here speak for itself(although that’s not the ONLY cause)
With Bajaj, you know his reasons, part of his back story, so there is a correlation to what he does and why he does it.
With Anurag too, there is character development, in this track specially, he talks to Anupam, his dad, mom, Shivani, so whilst you may not agree or may you do agree with his actions, you can see a the thread of reasoning.
