Hi. This is my first attempt at writing a short story on Kaira. This scene takes place after Kairav has been declared healthy and Vedika has asked Naira to move out of Goenka Villa with Kairav.

Part 1:
“Naira, apne wada kiya tha ke aik bar Kairav theek hojaye app is ghar se, Kartik aur meri life se bohat dur chalein jayein gi. Wo wada pora kerna ka time agaya hai”.
Vedika’s words echoed in Naira’s head as she stood by the door and watched Kartik and Kairav play together on the bed. Both were laughing, rolling on the bed, watching videos and just enjoying each other’s company. A lone tear rolled down Naira’s face for she knew her next move might change everything, again.
Gaining whatever courage she could muster, she walked into the room and sat on the corner of the bed. While Kairav continued to watch the video on his father’s mobile, Kartik looked towards her and gave her a warm smile, as if thanking her for the surreal moment he had just shared with his son.
N: Kairav, jao baby, Vansh app ko bula raha hai
KV: Nehi mama, abhi nehi, mein papa ke sath khel raho hon.
N: Baby, mama ko papa se kuch important baat kerni hai. App please mama ki baat suno.
This alerted Kartik and he looked questioningly towards Naira. What was that important that Naira couldn’t wait till later. Was it about Liza and Akhil? Or something else had happened altogether?
K: Haan beta, app jao abhi. Papa mama se baat kerke app ko aur Vansh ko ice-cream khelane le jayein gey. Jao, Vansh ko bulo ke wo tayaar hojaye.
As Kairav left the room, Kartik got up from the bed and came and sat next to Naira. As if instinctively, his hands went up to her shoulders and he asked her what was going on.
N: Kartik, mein jo bul nein ja rehi hon, tum he shayad acha na lage, but please, promise me ke tum react kerne se pehle meri puri baat sunoge, use sumjho gey, please Kartik.
K: Naira aisi kya baat hai, please batao mujhe? Tum itni pareshan kyun lag rehe ho? Ajj toh acha din haina. Kairav ki reports positive ayein hain, wo bilkul theek hai ab. Naira, mein bata nehi sakta tumhe ajj ke din mein kitna khush hon. Humara Kairav ab theek hai. Ajj to celebrate kerna banta hai, toh tum itni upset kyun ho?
N: Kartik, promise me tum ghusa nehi hogey.
Kartik was skeptical, but he held Naira’s hand and assured her that he won’t get angry and would hear her out before reacting.
N: Kartik… mujhe aur Kairav ko ab ja na hoga. Hum Singhania sadan move hojayein gey Kartik. Kartik, tum jab chaho Kairav ko milne a sakte ho, I promise mein nehi ruko gi. Kairav ka bhi jab man ho wo yahan ajaya kerega. Thora bara hajaye, phir to yahan ruk bhi sakta hain tumhare sath.
Kartik…wo theek hogaya hain ab, mein baat kero gi use wo samaj jaye ga ke hum yahan kyun nehi reh sakte. Haan janti hon hurt hoga, shayad zid bhi kere rehne ki per ajj nehi to kal to humein jana hogaya hi na. Aur delay kerke, hum use bas jhooti umeed de rehe hain.
Kartik…tum sun rehe ho na meri baat?
KARTIK!!
She shouted to gain his attention. Kartik had blanked out as soon as he heard Naira say she must go now from the Goenka Villa, along with their son. He heard whatever she said after that but didn’t register anything. He had gotten so used to this, his wife and his son living with him in the same house. Things weren’t perfect between him and Naira, but in Kairav’s presence,everything seemed okay. For the sake of their son, they would pretend to be this happy family, they would play together, watch movies together, eat together. There were times when he would forget this was all temporary and a day would come when his Naira would leave him again. As much as he had prepared himself for that dreaded moment, it still came as a shock when Naira told him.
If only he could go back in time and erase everything. If only he hadn’t asked Naira that dreaded question, if only Naira hadn’t decided to desert him for 5 years, if only he would have found out about Naira being alive a few moments before he did, if only Naira had come to stop the wedding.
If only…
Things could have been so different. They could have been happy. They could have been together but none of that seemed possible now. Not with him being married to someone else and Naira not willing to forgive him.Even he was angry at her for keeping his child away from him for 5 years, for causing him the amount of pain that she had by leading him to believe that she was dead, but he was willing to put all that behind them because somewhere he knew his love overpowered his anger. He couldn’t bear to spend the rest of his life away from his wife and his son, because of those 5 damned years. They had already lost too much time.
But alas…
N: Kartik, kuch kaho na. Kya soch rehe ho tum? Ghusa kerna hai, ghusa kero, but please aise chup mat raho.
Kartik looked up at her, his eyes filled with tears by now.
K: Jana zaroori hai kya, Naira?
N: Tum uska jawab jante ho.
K: Naira, bas kuch din aur rok jao. Hum Kairav ko aise kaise aik dum se bata sakte hain yeh sab. Use prepare bhi toh kerna hoga na.
N: Kartik, mein nehi ruk sakti yahan aur Kairav mere baghair nehi reh sakta. Wo bohat chota hai.
K: Mein kabhi bhi tumhe aur Kairav ko alag nehi kerna chahonga Naira, lekin mein kya karoon. Janta hon bohat bari ghalti hoi thi mujh se 5 saal pehle. Jitni maafi mango kam hain, lekin Naira, kab tak saza mile gi mujhe us aik ghalti ki?
Meine apna sab ko kuch kho diya hai us aik ghalti ki wajah se. Naira tum janti ho, jab se tumse pyaar hua tha, tab se lekr ab tak bus aik hi sapna tha mera, humari aik, choti si, cute si family ka. Meri kismat toh dekho, ajj sab kuch hote weh bhi, wo sapna shayad kabhi pora nehi ho paye ga.
N: Kartik, sapne toh hum dono ne dekhe the aur dono ke he sapne tootein hain. Mein janti ho yeh sab tumhare liye bohat difficult hai Kartik, lekin mere liye bhi asaan nehi hain. Yoh is tarah is ghar mein rehna,wo ghar jo aik wakht per mera hua kerta tha, wo rishte jo mere hue kerte the,ajj sab kuch kisi aur ka hai. Mein kuch kehti nehi, iska yeh matlab nehi hai ke mujhe bura nehi lagta. Kartik, bohat hurt hota hai jab Vedika ko dekhti hun,tumhari wife ke roop mein.
Bohat mushkil se apne app ko sambhala hai Kartik, please ab mujhe tootne mat dena. Hum jitni jaldi is sachai ko accept ker lein, humare liye utna hi behtr hoga.
Please Kartik, mujhe aur Kairav ko mat ruko. Please…
Kartik knew Naira was right. They had to accept the reality as difficult as it was. He just nodded his head, assuring her she could go to Singhania Sadan. It wasn’t easy for him, but he had to let go off her for her happiness even if it felt like someone was stabling him in the heart.
