You know there is a Pakistani drama Ghost that has the wife asking for divorce since she fell in love with someone else.. I have to say I have never seen any other drama or movie handling falling in love while married concept so perfectly

Divorce breaks families. Its not easy to leave your spouse just like that especially when you have a kid. Apparently Dev and Maya did took divorce from their spouses and didn't even meet for 3 years.

They were caught by their in laws first. They had crossed all the limits and when caught they tried to tell their truth. No spouse would take back cheating partner. Specially not when they are independent. Like rhea , rishi. And SRK's character Should have thought about his child if not rhea before putting everyone in this difficult situation. Why preity and Abhishek's character went ahead with divorce? because they were not happy in their marriage too. Cheating was added burden that put nail on the coffin of their dead relationship. So no divorce was not difficult in this movie at least.

In above listed movie and in real life too, people take back their cheating spouse because of three reasons,

1. They still love their partner very much to forgive and forget if they are guilty and truly want to get back together

2. When they think they can not deal with pressure of society. In those cases they take back their cheating spouse.

3. For the sake of children.

Being guilty when a person cheat but not being in love with spouse anymore will still leads to infidelity.

I think they told them only after they were caught and were left with not other option? that too after crossing all the limits?

I think they did have an option.. Sam had anyways died and I don't think Kirron would have told the truth if she really believed that Dev wanted to give his marriage a second chance...

After Sam's death, the two had decided they would go back to their spouses but only after coming clean.. they were not out of options.. they chose to say the truth.. of course that does not minimize the damage they did or reduce the terribleness of their act.. but I don't think they confessed because they had no choice..
