The premise of falling out of love was not enough...why did srk all of a sudden stop loving his childhood sweetheart preity...if it was accident n broken leg then preity was not shown as judgmental or not supportive etc...so to go out of marriage and sleep with another woman Rani was not cool and then to label it as soulmate Love was even more ridiculous...

Also, maybe not for all, but for viewing public like me, an extramarital affair is never justified...if you don’t want to live with your partner any more then don’t...don’t cheat and then sing Bollywood songs and call it the Bollywood brand of soulmate love....I can think of a few recent movies which were blockbusters and which I disliked to the very core exactly because of this...

It was not all of a sudden. The movie had an 8 year leap after Dev breaking his leg. Priety was not judgemental about it but Dev felt insecure because if his wife being more successful than him. Dev had flaws, big flaws, and he even got punishment for his deeds.

Okay. Divorce difficult hai, bahar aish karte hai. Divorce is easy, specially when you are that unhappy how it is shown in movie. Why make divorce a taboo and cheating an excuse since divorce isn't easy??

Wese out of curiosity, how many BW movies are there where wife engaged in an extra Marital affair and did not go back to her husband?

I know a couple of movies where husband cheated and was left alone by wife but the opposite I don't remember.. in most movies, husband and wife end up together if I am not mistaken

You know there is a Pakistani drama Ghost that has the wife asking for divorce since she fell in love with someone else.. I have to say I have never seen any other drama or movie handling falling in love while married concept so perfectly

They did feel guilty about it and told their spouses that they are cheating on them.

Because audience don't like to watch brutal realities of every day life specially in something like marriage which is considered sacred , they want to live in their bubble even after knowing that bubble is fake.....extra marital affairs happen and people like dev and maya exist too .

I hope you don't mind quoting you. I believe with particularly this movie, the overall characterization was poor. And since 50℅ of married couple cheat on each other and still stays together, it would have been awkward to watch this movie. Next, no one will accept their reality check so why not criticize them. Another 50% married couple who are too much in love would not want to have seeds of suspicion stuck in their mind. So again criticize.

I truly believe that couple who are not happy may wander their way, but it's not ideal and movies should have some way out without pointing fingers to anyone which this movie sucked big time.
