Playing National Anthem in cinema halls before a movie is completely irrelevant. Period. People don't go to theaters to fulfil a sense of solidarity. That feeling should always be in heart rather than getting reminded about it after every 3-4 hours. You can not play the National Anthem in any random place. It's not about standing for few seconds but the fact that it has it's own stature and should be given a whole hearted respect and I don't think it's much possible in a place where people are moving around with buckets of popcorn or samosas time to time. Even if they stop and stand for few seconds, I bet they would just do it for the sake of it rather than to feel "goosebumps" as Irani said. It will only become frustrating after few times.

There should be time and place for everything, even for the national anthem. Har jagah patriotism ghusana hai.

Imagine entering the theater with a bucket of popcorn, nachos, some samosas and NA starts playing and you have to immediately stop to pay "respect and feel goosebumps", all the while thinking about when it will end so that I can free my hands.

NA is not JUST a song...The NA and the Ntl flag deserve the utmost respect....it is not about 56 secs....its about the thinking that u can play it anywhere....there is a time to play NA or unfurl the Natl flag...that is why India doesn't allow people to have flags on their homes or cars or unless its a Natl holiday.....why should a NA be played before a stupid BW movie...

I am always surprised how US Govt allows chappal, chaddis and what not with American flag prints...I find it very disrespectful..

Indian flag on homes and cars is allowed who told u it isn't? Only condition is that the due protocol is to be followed while hoisting it and disposing it off when soiled.

everyday...everywhere...anytime....on anyone's car or homes....I am not talking about the officials...I am talking about common citizens?🤔

OK so I looked it up and looks like now the SC has allowed the Indian flags everywhere...didn't know that....good ....I remember growing up in India...I used to wait for the Natl Holidays so that I could put the flag on our terrace.😳
