Dhadak Box Office: Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter-starrer crosses 100 crore worldwide in 10 days

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's debut Bollywood started with a happy note on July 20. The romantic drama has successfully entered the coveted 100-crore worldwide in just a span of 10 days. Dhadak's fresh faces Janhvi and Ishaan Khatter promoted the film across the country and the film has definitely brought some fruitful results for both the budding actors. The Dharma Productions film enjoyed a great second weekend at the box office as quoted by film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

On its 10th day, Dhadak crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Elated filmmaker and honcho of Dharma Productions shared the happy news on his social media. Announcing the news, he wrote, "The heart beats worldwide! Worldwide gross 100 cr! @shashankkhaitan @janhvikapoor @ishaan95 @apoorva1972 @zeestudiosofficial @dharmamovies."

This week, the box office numbers for Dhadak are expected to come down a bit owing to three releases including Fanney Khan starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao. Also, Irrfan Khan's Karwaan is also slated to release on the same day. The business for the Shashank Khaitan film was also affected by Mission Impossible: Fallout which did a great business in India.

Dhadak has been bankrolled by Karan Johar, who has already launched many star kids in Bollywood including Alia Bhat, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The film has broken the record of being the highest opening film featuring newcomers.

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's Dhadak is an official remake of Marathi film Sairat which had Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru in lead roles.

Box Office: Dhadak continued to lead in the second week as well, and now the collections stand at 69 crore*. These are very good numbers not just for a film starring newcomers but also for the kind of investment that has been made on it. This is a kind of film that should do well on satellite and digital medium as well, which means there would be continued returns in time to come as well. Just like Student of the Year, Karan Johar has invested on the right talent in the form of Ishaan Khattar and Jahnvi Kapoor as well, something that should ensure good future for Bollywood.

The film is still in the running during the third week and the 75 crore mark should be crossed soon enough. Post that it may stretch towards the 80 crore mark, though what seems definitely possible is the surpassing of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania lifetime [78 crore] that was set by director Shashank Khaitan for his first Bollywood film.

As for the new Bollywood release Saheb Biwi aur Gangster 3, the film has emerged as a major disaster. The film would struggle to recover its P&A cost since the first week is a mere 7.50 crore*. This would actually be all for the film since it is hardly in the running during the second week. First part of Saheb Biwi aur Gangster had collected 10.40 croreand that too way back in 2011. Moreover, its budget was pretty miniscule when compared to third in this series by Tigmanshu Dhulia. However, the latest installment with Sanjay Dutt in a principle role will not even come close to this mark.

2018 has by and large seen films with good credentials doing well at the Box Office. However after Aiyaary, this one is yet another rude shock for the industry which otherwise has been having a good time.
