it is jussst like banegi apni baat...im a hugeee BAB fan, so i just saw one epi of this...and couldnt help but compare it to that; somehow that seemed much better. Apu is goood here, but the rest of banegi was amazing...it had an amazing cast.
many things are similar...radha, a widow and her three daughters come to mumbai (only in BAB, they came from kanpur..) The eldest, richa, was a fashion designer, middle, ritu, was very mast- she wanted to be a model, only the youngest, riya, didnt want to be an astraunaut, she wanted to be a psychologist! (and she was little happier than chutki, though radha used to call her chutki! đ )
And the serial starts with the middle two going to college...their first day; the youngest one, hoping she gets admission in her choice of course. And sometimes the mother and daughters used to break into poetry..
As for Apu's character...hmm, rahul of banegi wasnt like apu...apu is more like madhavan, who was ashley in BAB. very happy go luckky and got along really well with all sisters and with Radha, calling her by that name too! actually even characters like manav and karan in some ways were similar to apu's character.
However BAB seemed more natural somehow...like I said, apart from Apu, the cast in BAB really really stood out, because they were so natural...the dialogues were great...cast amazing, like surekha sikri, madhavan, shefali chaya, sandhya mridul, irfan khan...sooo many more... And that old dadi type person, haha...she was actually there in BAB, only thing is...she was a sort of villian...she was the only villian of BAB!
i was acutally surprised to see dj's had made this, when it was soooo similar to BAB...hmm, that still has my loyalites though... and the look of BAB, still seems the best and freshest serial ive ever seen on tv...strange, because it was one of the firsssst few serials on zee...was a weekly and ran for 6 years!
