Why didn't My Name is Khan and ADHM score big in BO ? They were also in the news because of huge controversies before their release.

Padmavat was a huge hit because the audience loved the movie, not because of controversies.

Their was contervorsy with ramleela and bajirao,raees,aye dil hai mushkil but they all not crossed 200 cr even but ohhh padamvat crosee 300 cr because of contervorsy loool when haters cant digest padmavat cross 300 cr so they come eith these useless excuses

Lolz, what controversy was faced by MNIK, Ramleela, BM? Definitely it was not any national level controversy going on for months like Padmaavat, which even ended up causing it's ban in 3 states. And BM scored very well at box office, so can't say it didn't benefit from whatever controversy.

ADHM and Raees controversy was because of Pakistani actors starring in the film, not because of it's content.

Padmaavat controversy was like PK's, where some bunch of people had problem with the film's content, which created curiosity among the audience to watch the film.

I was very young when MNIK was released, so didn't use to bother about current affairs.😆

Okay, I searched on Wikipedia, and it says that SRK made a statement that players of Pakistani cricket team were not bought by IPL clubs for 2010 tournament. He criticized this fact, due to which he was condemned by Shiv Sena.

So again, the controversy didn't happen because of the content of the film, but SRK's statement just like it happened with Dilwale, because of his intolerant statement. That means MNIK didn't get any help because of the controversy.

Controversies only benefit the film at the box office, if it is created because of it's content. Not because of some Pakistani actor starring in the movie, or an actor's controversial statements.
