The once upon a time wise Shaurya Khanna (during Ajay track)?!! Where has he gone?

I liked Shaurya Khanna character most during Ajay track and in the track that followed though we got to know that he was faking! alas they made it all fake, it took a lot of the character's charm/credibility and integrity! In my opinion it should have never been fake, it could have been better and much more enjoyable if he was honest, the guy was strong and assertive yet noble in that track there was no need to make all that fake for some called twist to show how witty and what a grey master planner the hero is, he could have been a master planner against vamps/villains and even if at some point of time he behaved in a mean way with Mehek it should be justified, it should be because of some misunderstanding done in a very believable way which led to him thinking ill of her and not out of nowhere! And even then it should be within some limits!

Wise logical baatein/understanding/empathy!!! I mean yes he used to get angry/taunt at times but in a very human way and for the right logical reasons, he showed he valued women and their rights at least in that track!

Some dialogues/incidents where he showed his wisdom, maturity and some gentleman qualities:

To Mehek when he came to know that her rishta was fixed and that her roka was fixed by her family and she didn't even know (Episode 50): Oh really!! Aap to bolti thi ki apke family aapse bohot pyar karte hai and apka bohot khayal rakte hai to kya hua hum saat saat sort of family! Apka roka bhi fixe kardia aur apko maaloom bhi nahi!!!...taane marne nahi chahta tha but aadat se majboor...ek aur baat kehni thi jise bhi shaadi kare hoon, soch samajke karna, kuch faisle agar ek baar galat lilye jate hai to uski gav zindagi bar nahi barte!

To mehek during her roka, when Ajay forcefully held her hand and hurt her breaking her bangle (Episode 52): Kaun hoon tum, Mehek Sharma nahi hoon sakti, at least wo Mehek Sharma nahi jisko main janta tha... wo Mehek Sharma jisko main janta tha wo badtameezi karniwale ko tappad marke jawab deti thi, kisiki galti chupani ki liye jooth nahi bolti thi... I guess main sahi tha rahogi to wohi middle class ki middle class wo stereotypical old fashioned hypocrit pati chahe banewala hi hoon... wo chahi kitna bhi atyachar kare, mare, pite, chup chap sahogi right!!!

N.B : I don't agree at all with his middle class jaap, he is being very judgemental, never liked his middle class jaap, but yes other points are valid

To his mom about the same when they were in the car in their way back home from the roka ceremony: Main gyan nahi dera hai ma, in fact mujhe kya padi hai, isko jo karna hai kare, har kisiko apni zindagi barbad kare ya abad kare , how does it matter to me, but you know arranged marriage iska kya funda hota hai , do log ek dusre ki saat bina compatibility ki apni puri zindagi baithate hai aur uske baad ek dusre ki zindagi narak bana the hai, his mom said that not everyone has the opportunity to have the marriage they want, he answered stating : to mat karo na shaadi, duniya mein aisa konsi kitab mein lekha hai ki shaadi karna bohot zarrori hai aur kisika saat jo zindagi zeher karde use to acha puri umar akele raho, this is what I think

N.B : He used to think logically, to have a point to be respected even if someone wouldn't agree completely with it, as some still believe in arranged marriages but the point is that the arguments he mentioned are very valid, this is the kind of things we wanted to see, people who have different kind of opinions but that can have valid points in their way of viewing things and not unjustified reactions or overreactions the way we see in the current track! Basically we wanted him to have his own set of values, but we wanted this set of values to be intact, unchanged because it's what makes the character what it is even when the character does mistakes!

Episodes 53 : Now who didn't like how he protected Mehek in the disco when Ajay was doing badtameezi that crossed all limits when he opened the dress's zip and I know Mehek should have taken a stand for herself (you don't need a man to step in, you should fight for yourself, but talk about the usual convenience to make a hero hero the heroine should be damsel in distress), the way Ajay was compelling her to drink, dancing with her, kissing her or trying to kiss her, that was unacceptable!!! So what if Ajay is her fianc, against her marzi nothing should happen, now it's another thing that many things Shaurya does are kind of most welcome for her, see I don't want to be hypocrit, so I have to admit that they had eyelocks and she didn't mind when Shaurya was dancing with her (lol), but as I said it all boils down to her marzi, we can still discuss about Mehek's contribution to the way Shaurya takes so much liberty with her even during ISC, it doesn't give him the right obviously not, but it's very clear that she is affected by him and very much attracted to him, she never rejects him right away!

Episode 54 : Who would forget the way he saved her from the two gunde who wanted to take advantage of her and I liked how he cleverly also turned the situation to his favor to solve the problem of his car, he used the truck to drop Mehek home and to reach home himself and he sent the truck to the police, uperse, he made sure the two men get punished in episode 55, the policeman has assured him that the two gunde are in the lockup and they have gotten beaten up so that they never dare to look at any girl with gandi nazar!

In episode 56 he was shocked to know that she was going ahead with the shaadi despite the way Ajay behaved with her and he confronted her with the same, she asked him not to interfere and that she will marry the man her family has chosen, he then told her to maro phir!! Here we didn't mind this because we knew he was her willwisher and she was the one adamant on destroying her life with Ajay, unlike his unacceptable behavior in the current track. Another thing, he was shown pouring his anger on his boxing bag staying truthful to the teetotaler image he projected, he seems to be breaking this image a lot lately

By the way, the way he was having the flashbacks of Ajay being badtameez with Mehek and getting angry at that when he was alone in his room with no one to do drama in front of, shows clearly that this can't be fake, he was very much affected, how can a supposedly clever man like him not know and understand that this woman means something to him!!!

To Nehal when she tried to commit suicide for Ajay (Episode 56): Kya problem hai tumhari generation mein? Jo pyar nahi karta tum uski liye mar sakti hoon, aur jo family tume itna pyar karte hai, tum unki liye jee bhi nahi sakte?... main samajta hoon pyar ki badle pyar na mile to kaisa lagta hai lekin jo pyar ki naam par tumhari marzi ki against kuch kare wo pyar nahi hota...main nahi poochonga kaun hai wo larka, I mean jise tumahari koi parva naho na uski liye khudko nuksan pohchana kamzoori nahi bewakofi hoti hai!!

The guy used to take his business seriously and be very responsible in that matter!!!

Might post other things in the upcoming days whenever time permits, I know sometimes it's of no use to analyze hindi shows I guess I've said this multiple times but it's a pass time for me so till I get bored I might post from time to time though I expect no consistency and no logic, as "tibs09 said in her post according to tracks and whose time is to glorify they will either show hero at advantage or heroine (O-ML ko strong dikhaana ho toh FL doormat , FL ko strong dikhaana ho toh ML weak Schizophrenic)

I'm not indian, so ignore the typos or mistakes in the hindi dialogues, in the english essay also if there are any 😆

Hello Arshifan ... good you took time to analyse and it is a brilliant post
I think most of us fell in love with a Shaurya around that phase and we lament and mourn the loss of that Shaurya
The strong and intelligent Shaurya , the Firm yet gentle Shaurya , who could differentiate between bad and good both people and situations
Who would not scream randomly
Who seemed to have a heart and a good upbringing

Alas in the name of twists it his character that has become the most twisted
From being a very successful businessman to a petty conman to a murderer
From being very intelligent to being absolutely blind to logic
From being smitten to being absolutely crazy in love to being psycho obsessive
And then magically forgetting everything... as if that love never existed
From Mehak being his life to being Mehak Sharma as if he has always just hated her
Like it does not register with him that she is his wife now ...a marriage that he chose to go ahead with
He can fight with his mother for his Nani for his mother with his wife for his fianc with the whole world but he never has a sense of balance
Where is that mature contained Shaurya
Does it mean when he gets emotionally involved his sense of judgment goes to the rocks ????
How can such a person be the most successful businessman ???

I get angry when I think about how they destroyed what could have been a great character to remember fondly forever. Slowly shifting my screen affections to the other Mr. Khanna on another channel. He has the strength of character, which I find sexy in people.

Just don't get attached, you never know when they butcher a character in hindi shows, as far as I know the track having Mr Khanna on the other channel is only 90 episodes old if I'm not wrong, so you never know what will happen when the leads confess their love to each other, never watched the show though I see some nice videos of it from time to time , but yes being a cop is kind of attractive lool, also to catch with the heroine's past I need to check more than 200 episodes I guess

Anyways we are breaking the rules here talking about another show, there is nothing that a pen can't change, they should just have the willigness to do it, and start anew but the problem with Cvs is do they want to?! do they deem it necessary ?!!!


@Bold who doesn't like strength of character!!!, intelligence and strength of character are the most appealing qualities for me, if you add to that some basic unchanged values and some good looks then it's cherry on the cake 😆

It's a problem of consistency! As I said multiple times, there should be something we can relate to characters for, if they keep changing the core values then people who watch for the story will stop watching, one can still watch some scenes for the chemistry but still without believeing much what characters say

At the beginning he used to get mad at her because he used to think she is a fraud, being the shrewd businessman knowing that people can play games to get what they want we thought that he has that misunderstanding that might last a little bit despite her proving herself many times during ISC then we thought maybe it's an ego thing added to that we still could to some point overlook it, but to call her a fraud and then steal her mother's book of recipes what does that tell about him?!!

Another thing I didn't like is the defamation thing, when he spiked her drink and uperse made all media air that, had it been a coincidence someone spiking both their drinks and both of them getting drunk and then journalists taking advantage of the situation and filming them without any plan of him and him getting the slap while being misunderstood that could have been better for his character, no hero does this, he is the same man who helped Sonal and Mehek herslef, defamation is a serious thing too for girls as much as molestation

I liked the guy who said that even if he hates the one who prepared the dish can't deny if a dish is good, I would have liked them to keep it in those lines, a man who can have misunderstandings, but who has values, I had no problem with any test he gave her even if difficult as long as it was fair


Anyways there are many inconsistencies like these, where his character kept oscilliating between good and bad, while all we wanted is just some stable traits! we can discuss about them some other time if you want if time permits

Reading your post made me nostalgic!! Gone are those days..Sigh!! I don't think we will ever get back the old Shaurya Khanna. Reminds me of one of his dialogues to Mehak during their GV phase, 'Don't keep any hopes from me..the Shaurya you are looking for is just an illusion'. Just like how he had betrayed Mehak, Cvs have betrayed us as well:(

I don't know if they are trying to say that these are times of mixed emotions and there is an inner turmoil. If that is the intent, they are doing a horrible job of it. You don't show his anger in one frame, his love in next. You need to show all these in the same frame, subtly, for it have an impact. The way they are doing it now, he just comes across as this big indecisive, heartless, petulant, unpredictable, temperamental, oaf of a guy - a complete antithesis of what Showrya was to us...

Honestly I wasn't shocked, because I know about Saurabh Tewari's style, actually, at times I don't mind watching grey heros or anti-heros when they are well written, they are much more entertaining than some goody goody heros who are made fools of by all and sundry but when the grey heros lose their most attractive trait which is intelligence and perceptiveness as well as some of their core values (they are grey not black so there is something good as well about them) they lose a lot of their charm, so consistency will always be the problem and not the character's behavior, as long as the way the character behaves goes with his original characterization and the growth they reached (love coming to their life, learning from their mistakes), it's ok but when they start behaving randomly just to give a way to some track then they lose their charm

Rk so far is his most interesting creation (Rishab Kundra from Madhubala) despite being a big kameena or as he likes to call himself right kameena!

Obviously in real life we can't condone their behavior, but as a story you can take them as psychological cases and try to study their behavior and what made them what they are!

I started watching post fake marriage track. Although he was annoying and absolutely unacceptable at times, there was something endearing and you wanted to see if he grows into someone better. Even in the midst of hurling insults, they would show a subtle change in his manner, expressions to show there is much more to this man than what meets the eye. There is absolutely none of that now... It makes it extremely hard to reconcile the old Showrya Khanna with this idiot.

I don't know what has changed on the ZKM team end - cvs/director. They have lost sight of their own characters and are just shoving it all down the drain... 😡😕

Don't know what to say exactly, but jo bhi ho they should make things entertaining, Cvs should always show justification to the way a character behaves and they shouldn't show things that might make people raise questions on the truthfullness of his love + no emasculation, give him back his intelligence!
