Amm...equal to.. "V"?
****!
"Mr. Kashyap! Silence! And NO foul language or I will report you!"
His chest clenched in panic, when the librarian's booming voice cut through the hushed silence of the room. Looking up, his eyes caught a few pairs that stared at him disapprovingly, before he stared at the librarian's face, who had a deep scowl on her lips.
"Sorry," he muttered, very sure that half his apology disappeared in his shoulder, as he turned to focus on his notebook.
His eyes immediately latched onto the alphabet that was the reason for his sailor like mouth.
"V"
After all this time of pushing the logical part of his brain to solve that chemical question, he ended up with not a number, but a letter. A ****ing letter, that was another problem altogether.
And the letter wasn't restricted within two lines of his ruled page.
No.
In fact, it was stretched beyond, basically covering 3 lines, inclusive of two lines underlining it to highlight it.
And it didn't stop there. That God-forsaken letter had been darkened to such an extent that if he made a move to turn the page over, the letter would just be left behind on the next page, while there would be a hole in the shape of V.
Vidushi.
He inhaled deeply in exhaustion, while lifting his head and closing his eyes, before exhaling through his mouth and opening his lids only to feel them widen as the object of his wayward thoughts materialised a table away from him.
"Shit!" he stressed without thinking, just as his arms scrambled to cover his notebook.
And..
Everything happened. Simultaneously.
THUDDITY THUD. Pop..Fwooo.
The adrenaline had basically clogged up his thinking cells, leaving him utterly disoriented as he saw papers fly from his right to left. Just as his arms managed to knock his phone off the plane of the table, his earphones popped out of his ears as gravity did its work.
She seemed to be staring at him. The rest of her face was scrunched up. She must be wondering what the hell was wrong with him. And she isn't wrong! He pictured his soul separating from his body and looking back at it, absorbing his definitely flustered form and pitying him "What a hot ****ing mess you are, Parth!"

God did not want her to have a peaceful day today.
And he had proven it.
First, Varun.
And now, Parth.
The first had left the campus, she was sure. But the second couldn't leave the campus, because he was studying in the same college. And it wasn't enough that she had been running behind him like a lovesick puppy initially, because now that that she had stopped and taken his "hint" that he wasn't interested, and kept her distance, the same person, that object of her desire seemed to have taken an unexpected and unabashed interest in her life.
The hostel room had been suffocating for her, because without the annoying yet relieving presence of Sanyukta to distract her, she had been left all alone to her thoughts that were basically out to make her mad. And opening those books weren't of any help. No books to refer.
She figured the crowd would do her good and what better place than a library to find a bearable crowd with the much needed silence. At least, she could get some of her work done too. Lots of books to refer. And to forget.
But her fingers were now being assaulted by the burning of the books' edges, as she held tight for any kind of support while her eyes latched onto a pair of wide dark browns.
She even bloody remembered what colour they were!
Seriously! How did her eyes find them? She retraced her steps mentally and remembered her eyes catching the colour of a shirt she had seen not even 2 hours ago.
His head snapped up, making her flutter her eyes at the sudden movement. But she hadn't failed to notice the way his arms had scrambled closer to his chest, leaving his shoulders hunched.
What the?! He was staring at her as if he had seen a ghost! She let out a chuckle through her nose. If I were really a Ghost, I'd definitely end up killing him! She blinked to clear her vision.
He was here. In the library.
She groaned, rolling her eyes, as a scowl deepened her frown.
Don't look at him! And all will be right! She hummed to herself in response, before making her legs move and settling her bum on a chair.

She was here.
He couldn't catch a break, could he?
His eyes followed her frame, unintentionally sliding lower and settling on her swaying derriere, she took purposeful steps towards a table diagonal to his.
She had pulled her hair back into a manageable ponytail, exposing her neck.
Lips. Teeth. Skin. Fingers. Hair.
She snapped her head up and looked straight ahead, making him snap his head downwards and his back hit the back of his chair. He made it a point to look at both his sides to avoid her catching him, only he didn't expect a mini heart attack on seeing his phone, face down on the ground, with his headphones laying splayed over his shoes. His arms shot out to grab them, as he saw the mess he had created not a foot away.
Damn those loose papers! he grit his teeth, as he got up from his seat and collected them all and slapped them onto the table, before placing his textbook on them.

The top of her head prickled. She looked up, being careful not to look in his direction, but a smirk slipped onto her lips, as she saw him from the corner of her eyes fumbling around himself, before bending down and grabbing something off the floor.
Shaking her head, she remembered that she had to get the book she needed for that stupid assignment. Rolling her eyes under her lids, she pushed off the table and headed to the shelves.

She was walking back, after disappearing for a full five minutes. Falling back onto her seat, he saw her fingers sift through the book, as she blindly felt for her notebook in her sling-bag resting on her lap.
He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, when he saw her head move back and forth from the reference book to her notebook, where she penned something down.
She's studying by herself? It felt as if his voice had squeaked in his head. But it didn't end there. She was reading the pages carefully, and trying to understand it. All by herself.
He knew it because he watched her run her hand behind her ear as if pushing some invisible strand of hair away from her face and then pressing her lower lip between her fingers, which she took in between her teeth, as she narrowed her eyes trying hard to focus.
"What is so amusing, Paaji?"
