I won't do an episode analysis today. i'll just talk about the major conflict in the episode today and in the ones to come...relationship vs calibre, love vs work, nepotism vs merit.
A very interesting juncture n the story of Reporters has come to the fore through this episode.
It was expected that Malvika would be the first one to hit out at Ananya now that she is left to only her caustic remarks and jibes. Richa, it doesn't bode well for their friendship but I had anticipated it to an extent. This is the actual workplace politics. Nobody is your friend here and if there is something called friendship, it will always come second to your personal desire to come out at the top. I've heard this from a lot of my friends and today I saw it being portrayed through the character of Richa.
Naturally, she wants to be in the good books of the owner and her insecurity, her jealousy came out through her comments about Ananya.
Ananya was able to handle Malvika and she tackled Richa in her own way as well but when the same thing was hurled at her by her boyfriend cum boss, she lost it. We could feel the hurt in her eyes. Does Kabir really think that everything is about him? Shreya might or might not be trying to get back at him but in opposing Ananya's promotion in front of everyone, Though unintentionally, he not only disrespected Ananya's professional calibre but also hurt her tremendously in the process, making her question her abilities and that is what was clearly unacceptable.
Shreya may have had an inkling about Kabir and Ananya through other sources but what he did today inadvertently exposed his overt interest in Ananya. Anybody in Shreya's place would be suspicious, especially after Ananya's brave declaration at the end and anybody with half a brain (probably except sunny) would be able to guage the thick tension between the two.
Kabir is a real character, he is exceptionally good at his job and he knows it but he still has a lot to learn about relationships and dynamics. Ananya is more perceptive in this regard . He just assumes that everything has to be about him and him alone. Shreya's motives may be suspect but he has no way of knowing if she is actually using Ananya as leverage. In his bid to protect Ananya from her machinations, he pushed both himself and her towards it by exposing his weakness for Ananya.
Good intentions, but his inability to look beyond himself at this point shall cost him in the long run.
