Anni,
Sorry to disagree completely on this one. I fully respect your opinion and agree with the part about decent performances of all desi actors (both goras hammed it up badly!) and picturesque locales, but the movie stunk badly. IMHO, of course.
3 songs in the first 15 mins, a badly placed 'Vande Mataram' song in the middle of the climax, 2 lavni songs for no reason at all, a laughably ridiculous, incredulous climax and the totally manipulative cast of characters turned me off almost completely.
1. Spoiled brat of a grandson who transforms by just 1 day of 'nisargAshI jawaLIk': check
2. Obligatory commentary on the evils of modern urban living vis-a-vis simple rural life: check
3. Loving, unassuming 'great' grandfather: check (he is shown to be at least 75 yrs old but doesn't look a day older than 60!)
4. Bad Hindu with Good son: Check
5. Good Muslim with Bad son: Check
6. Underlying subplot of religious harmony and national integration: Check
7. Obligatory golden-hearted kalAwantIN: Check (pretty Mrunal Thakur looks a bit too young)
8. Funny Nachya: Check
9. Cruel, barbaric Goras: Check
10. Heroic revolutionaries: Check
11. Obligatory shots of revoltionaries marching with mashAls at night: Check (every movie has to have this shot: Bayo, Kakasparsh, Aaishappath, to name just three)
12. Patriotic song: check
13. Lavnis: check
This is such a predictable & manipulative movie that I feel the director sat down with the above list and ticked off all the boxes one by one to press all the right buttons in the viewers' minds. The end result is a predictable, stereotypical movie with an unbelievable ending. I am surprised the director didn't think about inserting a bit about building girls' toilets in schools or add a message about the 'Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan'!

@ SW..agree with u in some of the points... yesss... it is a masala movie but the way the topic is handled...i liked it especially from the point of view of kids of this generation... it is so true that most of the kids of this generation (and unfortunately their parents also for whatever reason) are happy in playing with mobile games and PSPs... apart from chapters in History they would not be knowing about actual independence fight...(I agree... ya movie madhun tyachi tivrata kalun yeilch asa nahi pan atleast asa kahi tari purvi ghadla aahe evadha tari kalel...)

and about religious harmony... it was there in kokan and all parts of India... before independence...ani chotya gaavanmadhun jithe falnichya batmya ani tyachi intensity pochat navati tithe tar nakkich hoti...

and main part is about the sport viti dandu... ha khel aaplya generation ne fakt eiklay, pahilay... kahi janani khelala hi asel... pan aattachya generation la ha khel mahit asna avaghadch aahe... so to pochvaycha 1 changla prayatna vatla mala... ani ti "viti" fakt khel mhanun naahi tar jya jya paddhatine use kelye... as a messenger/shastra te kharach stutya vatla...(IMHO)

yess.. agree with u about Vande Matarm song... prabhavhin hota te... ajibat impact navata tya song cha...

Its good that u mentioned ur points...and its absolutely fine to have different opinions.. ani tyach mule movie kade neutral angle ne pahu shakle me...😊

> Yes, the director has tried to give many positive messages (a. get back to nature instead of being home-bound in a sanitized environment, b. let the children play instead of being closeted with video games, c. remember the sacrifices of our forefathers) and has weaved in other themes like religious harmony etc. But the in-your-face presentation of all these messages seems almost like product placement (the way it's done in MOST Marathi movies and even serials these days).
and about religious harmony... it was there in kokan and all parts of India... before independence...ani chotya gaavanmadhun jithe falnichya batmya ani tyachi intensity pochat navati tithe tar nakkich hoti...

> Not doubting that either. But bad, half-English Daji having a good revolutionary son Vasant and the good, patriotic Usman Chacha having a bad, English-employed son Sarfraz is a deliberate attempt at balancing the good & bad elements from both religions.

and main part is about the sport viti dandu... ha khel aaplya generation ne fakt eiklay, pahilay... kahi janani khelala hi asel... pan aattachya generation la ha khel mahit asna avaghadch aahe... so to pochvaycha 1 changla prayatna vatla mala... ani ti "viti" fakt khel mhanun naahi tar jya jya paddhatine use kelye... as a messenger/shastra te kharach stutya vatla...(IMHO)

> Khoufner dying after losing his balance due to an accidental vitti-hit is fine. But the barrage of vitties near the climax, the nailing of the other Gora by Govind's vitti, Govind's amazing accuracy with vitties (not even hinted earlier), the childish manner in which all the desi soldiers get ambushed by Govind's army - it's all too unbelievable!

BTW, did you recognize Ashok Samarth (from Lakshya & Singham) as the big revolutionary who dies saving Daji and also the character of mute Daji from Asmita (he is a desi soldier in the English army)?

In case Zoey hasn't been following Asmita (the serial, not the actress 😉), I think they have decided to get her hitched to a rich but mysterious ex-flame from her college days, Abhiman Saranjame. I think they are removing the role of her mom (Shama Ninawe). She suddenly was diagnosed with
terminal stage cancer and has been given 1-3 months to live. Poor Asmita doesn't know this. Only the viewers know this (and now you do too!) 😆

So exit Asmita's mom and enter her husband(-to-be) ...
