@arti My comment was specific to India as the thread was related to an incident happening in India. What happens in beaches abroad is not the subject of discussion. The answer to your question as to whether they are monkeys...they are...they do become animals when they commit such heinous acts and sanity is thrown out of the window. Rapes happen every where in India. The most famous one in Goa was the Scarlett Keeling case. I have already stated in my thread that women wearing sarees and salwar kameez also get raped. However a skimpily dressed women definitely provokes a more violent reaction. To give you one such example of that was the gang rape of a girl from north east who went out in the night wearing a skirt to buy herself a cup of tea as she was studying for her exams in Dhaula Kuan, Delhi. Arguing for the sake of arguing can go on. Feeling angry is also justified. However no matter what arguments you present the fact remains that India as of now especially the north is highly unsafe and our criminal justice system shoddy. A person no less then the CM of Delhi has cautioned girls to be careful in the way they dress and going out at late nights. A person responsible for protecting us has the same fear which I and you have. As I have stated we can ask any number of questions why not they improve policing...why can't I wear a dress of my choice...I definitely will wear what I want ...people wearing sarees also get raped so I will wear what I want...etc etc the choice always lies with you. You can go ahead and do what you want if you are willing to take the risk.

@neil Yes men also get raped. I did not get into the subject as the subject of discussion was the way women should dress and its implications. Yes the answer to that is not bending or accepting defeat. For that training in self defence should be a compulsory part of curriculum, policing has to improve and justice delivery system has to be made quicker so as to act as a deterrent. Without this if we go ahead and challenge the established setup then people will get sacrificed in the altar and the system will continue as it is. The classic example of that being the horrific Nirbhaya case.

Everyone has a choice as to what to wear so I do not see the connection between her job and what she does out of uniform. 😡

@umdu

thats what am asking ...why this intolerance in men towards women when they show skin??
it is because for years women r lectured to wear n look in a certain manner...

i am from US and in my campus even students wear bikin during summer and take sun bath in open air...and the boys dont even care..u know why???coz when something happes on daily basis or when something is so norm..men dont tend to salivate just at mere glance of the skin

not only gals even men needs to have self defence techinques...

and here TM was questioning why roma wore such a mini skirt which kind of provoked those rogues in the pub..see this is the mentality which we r totally against and which needs to be changed..here question is not whether u r on street in saree or skirt but the question is about mentality of ppl who dont even think twice to raise finger against a woman coz of her dressing sense...

and such mentalities can not be prevented even by self defence lol

reality is altogether a different subject...

if u see i pointed the fact i said the woman crime in uttar pradesh and west bengal are higher in comparison to mumbai and goa ! why is it so? ...is it becoz woman are more liberal or man have higher moral ethics ? no the population has nothing to do with it becoz its a sample study and the research is purely scientific...
the state has to be in a pathetic condition if CM advises a gal to be cautious no wonder wat was the position of the party in the election...so i really dont wanna comment on Delhi i just feel sorry becoz of the lack of powerful administration...
@ red are u telling me if a wear short dresses i will invite eve teasing molestation rape i dare say NO ...i wear dresses i wear skirts sheath dress... then i have frns who always wear traditional dresses and do u know wat the gals with traditional outfit is picked more,,,sorry but thts the reality ,,,,,till now nobody picked on me and if they are some i have guts to speak to react
the probs lies on us if someone teases us molests we wont break his jaw or file a FIR we will either change our route or look at our dressing will adjust our dupatta or pallu to avoid the glances we will pray and hope for some miracle ! but none of us will raise our voice most of us dont complain and silently bear all these torments and if a gal raises the voice ppl shook their head in dismay its like WAT HOW DARE SHE StOOD UP AGAINST A CRIME LETS TEACH HER A LESSON SO THT NO WOMAN DARE TO STAND UP AGAINST US THE CRIMINAL !the fact is tht we are tolerant towards eve teasing the problem lies with woman is she thinks she is epitome of endurance sacrifice she is bound to live the life for others ! in the process she never realize tht she is doing injustice to herself !
the number is so less tht is why those criminal minds are negligent i take an example of GIRJA DEVI...few years back in her village the man have indulged in themselves in alcohol the prob of alcohol was serious the woman were beaten up men gave up the work forced the woman to earn and take away all the salary...women were molested raped wat not...every single woman faced the same prob but noone in the village reacted stood against alcohol until girja devi noticed it...she stood up against the crime she spread the awareness and with her contionous effort all the women raised the voice and now not only tht particular village but 125 village is alcohol free...woman have power and strength to face the odds of the society and i believe only woman can bring the changes in the society !
Stand for the woman instead of finding the fault in dressing sense 😳

I cannot believe such a huge issue was made over Roma's dress

Firstly she looked very pretty...yes it was a short dress but she paired it with stockings and long boots, which added a classy factor to the outfit..even if it were heels with stockings, it would still be a cute outfit

Also, rape has absolutely nothing to do with women and what they are wearing as women in more conservative countries face horrendous crimes against them!

Rape has to do with taking power away from women, so the man feels superior and in control.

The whole dress/look reasoning is an excuse and a way to put the blame of a horrendous crime, right back on women

Its simply shameful that women are women's worst enemies and will, without blinking, condemn the woman rather than the man. Incredibly stupid and if a woman is thinking like that, then she needs to sit down and asses WHY she is thinking like that.

Its also a damn shame, that 80% or more of the serials shown, keep showing the rough angry man, and the sweet innocent girl. So sick of this and it just perpetuates the whole "rape fantasy" idea, which is false.

No woman thinks rape is romantic. Or being abused in any way is a method of showing love.

Indian serials have become pathetic executions of Harlequin/Mills&Boon romance novels

the one reason I watch this show is because of the gentle, sweet, and honest relationship of Sandya and Suraj

Suraj is what a man should be..patient, caring, and willing to stand by his woman! Their consummation scene was beautiful and mutual

Just watched first episode season2 of Satyamev Jayate and pointed out almost similar facts which we have discussed here against rape.🤓.

@Piu Di, neill, arti and rest of the members:- Gracious to come forward and raised your voices. I feel privileged to participate in the discussion with all of you to fight for women's rights. There are young girls/females like me out there who believes to raise their voice for the justice.

I wish parents teach their kids from childhood how to fight for your rights and develop winning attitude towards life rather than instill fear in them about some godly power will come if you don't do this/that.

My funda of life is simple: If you wanna sacrifice, sacrifice for chasing your dreams not for others. With others we can always opt for "compromise/adjustable" route. After all as a human we've every right to live life the way want it and values we believes in as long as it's within verge of humanity values; Not made by any religion/community authorities.
