A couple of things I noticed. Am I seeing them correctly
Sadaf runs to the door and looks happy to answer the door. She looked disappointed when she saw Ammar. Was she expecting that was going to be Bilal?
She flips around and makes eye contact with Bilal while Humsha is dragging her away.
It feels like she’s fighting her feelings but is still getting influenced by Humsha and Ammar. Ammar is such a loser by the way…he always seems insecure and jealous of Bilal Abdullah but sucks up to him when he sees him.
The whole set of door-opening scenes are nicely done.
You are right about the disappointment in Sadaf. Her emotions are oscillating between what she feels in her heart vs what she was made to believe. Her feelings on Bilal are swaying as a pendulum. When Zaaviyar mentioned that there is no one like Bilal on their way back home from airport, Sadaf contemplated for a bit before masking it with a smile – it was as if there was a battle within her to accept what to believe. Again, when Zaaviyar was discussing how Bilal considered him as his little brother, her face showed what she truly felt, only to be bounced back after seeing those expensive gifts.
Obviously when she heard about Bilal being the donor from Farzana (I loved the way they’ve placed the OST here! ) and once she confirmed that with Zaaviyar, she momentarily forgot her prejudice against Bilal, hence the running to the door to welcome him and she was smiling when she opened the door. The moment she saw Ammar at the door, her face fell – because Ammar was not who she was expecting to meet at the door; but right after the disappointment, when she was turning her back to Ammar, it was the realization – it is like both Ammar and Humsha’s presence are flags that keeps reminding her bigotry on Bilal’s character. And when Bilal was actually at the door, it was Farzana who opened it and called Sadaf. This was also the opposite of what happened last time when Bilal visited – showed the change of her heart, and she is trying so hard to block them, because she was brazenly misled.
Like someone has rightly mentioned somewhere here, the ‘8-crore conversation’ was what had laid the foundation for Sadaf’s ‘relationship’ with Bilal. For Bilal, it was Mirza sahab’s admonishment, so, ‘8-crore conversation’ had a different effect on him. But the moment Sadaf placed that deal on the front; does not matter the fact that Bilal agreed to help her with no conditions attached, it had off-kilter their relationship for Sadaf. That was why it was easier for Humsha to mislead her. Saying yes to Ammar was a proactive measure from Sadaf’s side – she was actually afraid of herself of falling for Bilal. And when her ammi mentioned about Bilal bringing a proposal, she dived right into the only option she had to refrain herself of falling for him – getting committed to someone else, so that she has an excuse to not to entertain her feelings for Bilal.
Sadaf is slightly impulsive – that probably was what makers wanted to establish with that road crossing scene, where she went ahead without looking back. Her ‘8-creoe deal’ was an impetuous decision from her side, though she kept saying that she was ready to do anything for that 8 crore, she was not fully ready or prepared, both mentally and physically, for what would have happened if Bilal complied to her conditions. Her agreeing to Ammar’s proposal has the same tone – a rash decision. Her running to the door, getting disappointed and finally realizing full impact of her actions, perfectly display where she stands and how she reached there.
I just can’t comprehend how she would shed her prejudice to fall freely for Bilal, as I thought it’d be the ‘donor revelation’ that’d trigger that. But now that it has been already revealed, not sure what will do that job!
