I was also struck by how the director chose to depict the death of Aaliya's father. It was violent and sad. Yet, they way the camera frames it, there is a soft blurring where we see him walking towards the light. When Aaliya describes what she saw, Ibrahim quietly says that it is called martyr. So yes, it was violent but his death wasn't in vain and it is symbolized by him walking towards light. That symbolism and imagery was quite powerful. Rather than uneasy feeling, we are just left with a sense of poignant silence. The drama of what happened wasn't exploited in any way. I don't know if that makes any sense... Just some random thoughts on a Sunday!

She & Iqra look of same height to me. That hug in Qurbaan, Iqra was barely reaching his chest smiley36

I don't really remember their hug or much in Qurbaan bcz I just watched few bits here & there.

Even if Iqra & Sabeena are of same height, sabeena looks more petite infront of him. Which makes him look so tall.

Nice thoughts. It did indeed seem like a painful incident & that too in front of Aliya's eyes. Indeed a poignant silence.

Looks like Aliya's brother is going to over hear Shabbeer & will understand that Aliya was speaking truth.

Sometimes these kind of situations shock me. I mean he is her brother. Even if he thinks Aliya is lying, she doesn't want to be with Shabbeer. He should just support his sister. That's should be the basic instinct. I know it does not work that way in real. If it did, we wouldn't have so many honour killings. But still...

Also Sabeena is hands down my fav here

He’s 6ft tall for sure. Uss se zyada nahin hoga. Dure & him didn’t have much difference in IM but when they were at premiere he’s at least 4 or 5 inches taller than her. She is 5’8” in height.

Haan Sabeena looks more petite because Bilal has put on some weight. He was younger & leaner in qurbaan.

I like how the director shows little bits of characterization in very small gestures.

When Aaliyah's brother entered the church, he removed his chappals with a sense of solemnity and carefully put it aside. He entered with that same spirit.

I was expecting Shabbir to walk in with shoes but he removed it in a very angry, careless fashion. Then he threatens Yousuf uncle within the church premises.

So just by body language and actions, it tells you a lot about the characters of the two men and Shabbir especially. This is not a man who has respect for people or God or holy places. He tries hard to pretend to follow the laws and etiquette. However, it is always about his needs and there is an edgy restlessness.

Yeah I also thought that maybe shabbir will not remove his chappal but he did. Not because he respects any religion but because he wants to show off. He and his mom just like to pretend that they are righteous people but in real they are evil.
