IMO, I feel like compared to Arjumand's role, Ruhi's role is much more complicated. She is a nadaan, confused woman. She loved her brother so dearly, she was manipulated which made her hate haveli people all the more. She cared for her daughter but her love for her bro overcame her love for Faraah. She was always a kind of woman struggling. She was already insecure (Behroze never shared his inner most feelings of longing with her because of which she felt that despite having Behroze, she didn't have. He never confided in her) and more insecurity was planted in her by Zohra, Tajammul which made her all the more sensitive and suspicious with regard to AJ. Hence she always viewed AJ a threat who would cheenofy her daughter away. Somewhere she herself knew that AJ's love was so pure that Faraah would melt. Thus she restricted AJ from meeting Faraah and named AJ's love as schemes etc. It was her own mistakes and her brother's family's plots that eventually turned her bad. So in that sense, I think Sanam did her best to portray the role well. In terms of her potential and not-so-long experience in the industry, she did well in portraying the role of a woman who's like 10 years older than her. Yes, her dialogue delivery was sometimes a bit off and body language went stiff. But i think any actor in the industry like her, Mahira or anyone else, couldn't have done it any better. She did a fine job.
