Because he thinks that she is not suitable for him. He thinks that she comes from an affluent and wealthy family while he has grown up in a middle class family.

I guess the next high point in the show will come when Manasi gets to know that Tejas duped her father. I am a lil scared to discover how she will react. So far now she thinks that Tejas helped her family out of his niceness.

I feel Tejas grew to *like* Manasi from quite early on in the show even before she started liking him. So many moments indicate this.

He's a being a fool to think that he can easily let go of her. Not realising that slowly she is cementing her place in the family and as his wife in his life.

Wonder how would it be possible for Manasi to forgive Tejas though. His love and repentance will have to shine through and knowing Tejas I don't think that's impossible.

Oh and as much as I understand that this may never happen, but am lowkey rooting for some solidarity between Gayathri and Manasi. What if it turns out that Manasi is Gayathri's long lost sister
