Anytime Nachiket !! (and of course anyone on the forum πŸ€—)

(I can see SW's reaction : 😳 😳)

@ Red: You got me...I am not sure about waal (the original ones); neither have I made it; South Indians don't like usals FYI (It's a different story that husbands eat as long as they don't have to cook; although my husband is a very good cook and he taught me most of the cooking after we got married 😳; especially all South Indian dishes. Sakhar bhaat, pineapple sheera and jilebis are his specialities πŸ˜›).

I know hulge / kuleeth miltaat ithe. I make usal many times, but have never seen the flour from that in any stores here. If you bring the flour, I will make it πŸ˜†. Tu US la he sagla khayla yenaar aahes kaa? Kee majhe cooking skills test karayla yenaar aahes?? πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Suralichya wadya miltaat ithe karan there are more than ample Gujjus here. Ajun kahi rare? - Ambadi, suran, karli wagaire pan miltaat. πŸ˜†.

I would think you would want to taste something other than Indian when you are here. So leave the rest of the list for that. 😊

I hear you Sonali πŸ˜” My mother also complains about that.

As an alternative, when she goes to her ajol (near Sawantwadi) she gets the dried gare which can be stored for long and when required soak it in water to make delicious upasachi bhaaji with some steamed jackfruit seeds. I remember as kids when we used to go to her ajol, the most common subji that used to be there was fanas - all different varieties and I never used to get tired of eating it. Along with red rice atwal (mau bhaat πŸ˜†). Aha...red rice and red pohe are also available here πŸ˜›πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

Another thing which I must mention is the Dil subji - Shepoo - which we never made in Pune because of the pungent smell and equally disgusting taste. But here, the Dil is absolutely devoid of that pungent taste and in fact my parents just loved it. Moong daal amti with shepoo instead of coriander tastes awesome and so does the dry subji with sprouted moong - both are my daughter's favorites.

Over the past month in one of the local stores - there is "red spinach" that's being sold; the packet literally mentions red spinach. And I could not control my curiosity, so bought it over the weekend. And guess what?!!!!!πŸ˜† You must have guessed it...it was laal maath πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

Having said that, South Indian folks can make delicacies out of the most boaring vegetables - they make shepoo bhajiya's / wada, wadas from banana flowers (both taste really good), apple sambhar, kale sambhar and the list can go on endlessly.

Needless to say, one can survive here without traditional Indian delicacies; you just need to have a Chinese / Philippino store accessible to you to get the rarest of rare vegetables (and animals) on this planet. Just be lucky to have a Chinese store without (live) sea food being sold there; these stores are darn stinky with all the live sea food that they sell. The rare 2-3 times that I have been to such stores, I had to wash all clothes including jackets to get rid of the smell .

And how can I end without the mention of Varan Bhaat!!!!!!! πŸ˜›πŸ˜› (with sajuk tup AND limbachi fod πŸ˜›) Zoey, NJ, I was talking about the edible varan bhaat only. I am not aware of any other meaning of Varan bhaat. So, enlighten me please Zoey!! Unless...you are referring to something in connection with JYRG?!! I am not connected to the JYRG world for ages now. So ab varan bhaat ka kuch mutated recipe ho gaya ho toh mujhe pata nahi.

Rest all over the weekend. These many delicacies will last until I come back again 😊.

Double-seat promotion on CHYD didn't live up to expectation. The CHYD take on sade-made-tin was quite bad and stale as compared to last week's Mumbaicha faujdaar *ing Ravindra Mahajani. Double seat team will continue today as the movie is being produced by Essel vision.

Again ... 'mama mhaNA, hAtAlA hAt lAwA' from me. However, I would put the blame on the Writer/ Director duo. There's no reason why (based on the small preview on CHYD) Double Seat should be a movie and not just a play. There's no 'nATya' - just a bunch of (predictable) conversations that even Mukta (her dialogue delivery is also quite predictable now since her roles are getting similar) can't make interesting. This is the 'nawA gaDI nawa rAjya' team and you know that it was a situational comedy that was quite verbose.
Not satisfied with cross-dressing men as women, the CHYD team showed its 'originality' by dressing Shreya Bugde as a male y'day. How original was that! πŸ˜•

Bhalchandra Pendharkar passed away in Mumbai Tue morning. He was 94. He was one of the main players behind the renaissance of Marathi sangeet natak. 'nayan tujhe jAdugAr', 'madanAchi manjirI', 'AI tujhI AThawaN yete', 'tU japun TAk pAUl jarA' etc are some of his famous songs.
May his soul rest in peace!

Shortcut was another movie released last friday which hasn't come on CHYD due to pref of their own film DS. From the promos Shortcut looks like copy of a cheap korean movie. Vaibhav Tatwavadi is quite sincere actor who did well in Coffee ani barech kahi. But he should choose movies carefully. Sanskriti balgude worth not mentioning as she is only a good dancer. She has given some bold scenes compared to usual marathi standards. But no takers for this movie.

Before I call it a day :

Thanks Veena!! Seeing your post after many days. Aur enthusiasm dekhna hai toh visit the KYY forum some day. Sonali will find it quite ahhhmazing how gals on that forum have close to 97K or >50K posts completed . You can imagine their enthusiasm of not only watching SO MANY serials but also discussing them with sustained enthu!!

Food for thought: Found some facts about neer fanas...and actually seems that the 2 varieties are different. Also known as bread fruit. Didn't know that. Dr. Vidya please confirm πŸ˜› Ber halasu sambar is very popular in my in-laws place and I am nauseated with it. Last 2 trips I had it almost at everyone's place πŸ˜”

Had known the difference between jack fruit and Durian (aka stinky fruit πŸ˜†) which is commonly found in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Zoey - picnic was to Roosevelt park - It's an hour's drive from my place, nothing special. All parks in summer are meant for barbecues πŸ˜’...had to oblige friends who think they need to take care of me in my official care taker's absence 😳. You still need more of my analysis on KY2?? 😲😲Dr. Vidya will issue official summons and put a STOP sign for Neela's KY2 vs ZGH takes πŸ˜†

BTW...both Dr. Vidya and CV Dilip da are missing from the forum. Hope they are back soon.

Ciao!!

Of course...go ahead with the sharing, don't need to wait for the permission; I don't own the copyrights 😊. I have never read that Parth AT😳😳

Anni, I was lucky (πŸ€” ...smart enough πŸ˜†) to figure out in the 1st 2 days of surfing on the KYY forum that MaNan AT thread is the only worth reading threads πŸ‘πŸΌ And the titles of some of the old threads just got me into splits. I shared some titles with my husband, including the recent one and he had a hearty laugh πŸ˜†πŸ˜†, although I know I can never get him to watch any hindi serials that I like. Except first few months of Pavitra Rishta he's never watched any Hindi serial, none of the kannada serials too. He's too much into political series like House of Cards or comedy ones like Becker, King of Queens, When I met your mother...there's a long list.

Coming to KYY...the birthday episodes coincided with my landing on the forum to read two of this girl - Twinkle's threads - such a magical writing πŸ‘β€οΈ

Who would imagine - LOL can be equated to The Loudness Of Love,
Love Of Life, Language Of Love AND Lots Of Love So kudos to her for all her write ups - I just happened to have read only two and whatever rare times I visited the AT threads - I cannot seem to catch up an entire thread as by the time I get chance to come to the forum a new thread is already opened up.😲 The older ones also, I have enjoyed the titles but I haven't found time to read through all pages...I will go if I have to read 143 * 150 pages πŸ˜†

Needless to say the rest of the forum is more than a bunch of oxy-morons, sorry I actually said it!! That's why I refrain from participating there, apart from the lack of time. More in the next thread...50 shades deserves a separate post πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†πŸ˜† and I will connect the moronic threads there, hopefully.

And thanks Sayali for your views on ZGH and KYY; although I thought of clarifying later that the comparison is clearly intended to be between the lead pair of both the series and not the stories, never got to it, bcoz I thought I said enough. You can never compare the stories yaar. ZGH is so close to reality and KYY is fantasy depicting real teenage problems. Any episode that I saw Manik getting flustered and saying "Kya karoon mai is ladaki kaa" πŸ˜†πŸ˜† I could not help but recollect Zaroon...a whole day of unnerving thoughts about just confronting Kashaf and his smoking the cigarette just before actually speaking to her πŸ˜†πŸ˜†. And many more...So good to read your view. There needs to be both sides of the coin, appreciate it.

Well...I better not take away Zoey's points from his write up.

hehehe NEELA...πŸ€—

KYY peksha Anni happened for me to drop on this thread... she insisted that i should post my views on ZGH and KYY ...so I just gave it a try... i m very bad when putting thought on paper...can talk or write a screenplay out of it so not sure IF at all I make any sense there πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

i stopped coming here long back... u guys talk variety of subject related to marathi movies , natak ani sahitya je me vishesh nahi follow karat so nothing much i can contribute here...

u r right love stories can never be compared so lets just leave it at that...

Zarun calling his mom dad and sister because he is legit scared to call back Kashaf is one of my most fav scene of ZGH... along with their first phone conversation post engagement... where

Zarun going all romantic... Chand dekhaa...

Kashaf in a dry tone ... hann gol haine...

Zarun hann toh chandd haine toh use gol hi hona haine chakor thode na hoga...πŸ˜†

and there are couple of scenes in KYY where Manik accepts he is scared of Nandu... his dialogue to Cabir... "She will kill me Man... Dude wo dikhati choti see... wo haine chotisee... butt..."🀣🀣🀣🀣
