Wonderful writeup mansi.. And I especially loved this para

The significance of Jodha in Jalal's life and her ascent in his life seems like a micro replica of the larger political atmosphere of the Sultanate and the macro drift of Jalal towards the Hindus. Jalal I think has started seeing his praja in Jodha and his Jodha in his praja now ... till the praja and Jodha seem inseprable anymore to him

How well you have written and its so true.. Loved Jalal and Jodha yesterday..they seemed inseparable yesterday throughout and it was good to watch Jalal ignoring Ruks royally .. but I hope she does not do something nasty.. She looked quiet miffed with this.

But I am very disappointed that Balaji/Zee is not promoting such episodes ..Yesterday's episode was a milestone episode and that too ont he verge of 1st anniversary celebration of JA show but they did not promote this..I am surprised.

What I loved yesterday was how Jalal and Jodha are bonding emotionally and how they understand each other perfectly.. as husband and wife.. They looked so cute together..

About Shehnaaz..I agree with you that may be she is associated with Mahachuchak /Abul Mali..Either of the two. I wonder what are Jalal's spies doing.. Shehnaaz/Nigar may or may not be the daughter of Chand Begum.. but atleast she believes that she is or was made to believe so.. She also is another power hungry woman.. CVS have made her dialogues look too monotonous.. "Jis par sirf hamar Haq hai" This line she repeats in every episode.. I am fed up of that.. Infact I am fed up of all these never ending tracks.. I dont think I am going to like Mahachuchak track also..frankly Maham is much more tolerable than any of these vamps.. She is the best.. Mahachuchak. looks like she has come straight from horror land.. yUck..I did not like her avtaar.. yes agreed she looks like Abul Mali's mother-in-law..they compliment each other very well.

I saw Ruks pic in all that armour thing..Is she too going to fight with Jodha against Shehnaaz.. ? God save us..

About Ruq the less said the better. Did you see the way she was dressing up to look good to the praja? And as regards her fighting Shehnaaz, she may take all the time in the world to dress up like a warrior by which time the fight itself may be over. Just imagine telling your opponent "here I come in my make up and new dress to challenge you" and then not knowing the back of the sword from the front?

In this picture Ruq llooks more like a sentry on duty than a swordfighter to me!πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† is that a lathi in her hand? Oh its a bow for she has arrows behind her back! My God, now she's into archery?

😲 Really? I guess it is different society had different set of mind too. 😊

But then you are right too, any healthy man just can't think straight or control themselves when their blood are rushing to the southern part of their anatomy.πŸ˜ƒ

And Jalal is one healthy, young and heirless emperor who just found the meaning of love and is counting every seconds to be a father especially after the dream.
Plus, he already waited for Jodha for so long.😳

So yes, you got the point, in fact even the words 'jump on her' are kind of understatement...πŸ˜†πŸ˜‰

Suddenly I feel scare for JodhaπŸ˜› but she is one healthy lady. Thanks to no hukkah and no alcohol rules that she practices.πŸ˜‰

Hi Mansi,
Good to see you in full form, out of back trouble. Loved your analysis. Initially I did not like the naming of Akbar in such a simple manner, but then I realised simplicity touches the heart & it has been done in such a manner that it is near to the ground level, devoid of pomp & grandeur.

I too did initially feel that the moment of becoming Akbar should have been grander but on seeing that scene again this morning as I was writing the post, the same thoughts struck me, that the simplicity of it all was its beauty and maybe the movie had set up expectations that were not right. The humbleness of the man and his message were just in the right spirit to gild the moment. So yes, overall hats off to the Creatives for not following the movie script!
As regards it being in both Hindi and Urdu, I guess all the Muslim subjects are as okay as the Hindus about Jalal and his muti-religious orientation. But its just a handful of well-placed and influential maulvis that Jalal has to worry about. Not because they themselves are unhappy but because they may try to brainwash the simple Muslim folk over whom they have religious sway.
Also did you get the feeling I did yesterday that for Jalal the line between the praja and Jodha is obliterated. To him the praja is an extension of her and she is the extension of the praja. That is probably why Jodha had to remind him that taking her alone to meet the praja every time is not OK and he needs to include his two other wives as well?

@blue...

no for me it was bit different... i felt now he thinks her as his soul, and so she is no different for him... rather for him she exists IN him... and so he wants her everywhere with him, coz for him, now there can never be any distance btw him...

and i think, even she understands that... and that is the reason, she had to remind him that though in their private world , they r one, still for his subjects or other ppl , she is one of the three... and Ruku and SB r part of his life since before her, and if others or his subjects feel that he is ignoring them, then wrong msg will go to subjects, that when Jalal can favour one Khaas begum and ignore other two and so does injustice with them , how can he do justice with others and how can anybody should believe that he will really treat equally to all... rather it would have looked like, since his hindu wife has come in his life, he has started ignoring his own religion and his ppl... and again Jo saved him from that criticism... whatever differences he has btw him and Ruku , or Jo and Ruku, it should be only when they r alone in their palace, inside their four walls, but for their subjects they stand united, always...

now remains ur point abt Jo and his subjects being extension to eachother, then, i feel, more than extention, she represents those subjects with her simplicity... i think for him Jo is more like a second mind or his heart for him who is close to his subjects than anybody else, who understand them for what they r... and so while his brain is involved in other political matters, when the matter is concerned to his subjects, the decisions r made by his heart, with all good and bad possibilities of them well thought for ... and so he becomes sure of his decision when it's related to his subjects just by looking at her, and finding her beaming proudly on his decision...

Same here. I think the movie conditioned us to expect more grandeur. But good it was so simple and poignant!
