Jodha Akbar was promoted as a love story both in movie and serial

In movie atleast we got some love - royal kind where both the emperor and his new princess were regal in their approach
But somehow in this serial i do not find anything that is love. It looks like jodha is a damsel in distress and jalal her oppressor whenever they are together alone. The expression jodha gives when jalal approaches her is of fear where he may try to voilate her this after he promised not to touch her without her permission. And mind you this was in 16th century where words really mattered especially of an emperor.
Now this situation is in itself tricky that a husband should not come to her room in agra at night(fine he has more wives where he can spend time) but when they are travelling and expected to stay together in amer it gets akward. Why? not because of jalal but because of jodha. The expression she gives whenever he goes near her makes audience cringe and forget anything about love. And she was fine to share bed in amer what is problem at journey? And what did he do she only pulled his hand and slept he must have cried danger not herrr. And walking out in snow and Jalal running after her like a concerned puppy was too much jalal do not forget you are emperor not a jhoru ka ghulam
True love is not of physicality its about the soul. As a young guy Jalal is attracted to Jodha's beauty this we understand and nothing wrong(even akbar in movie hrithik would look at jodha but never did Ash jodha act as if he was going to voilate her expression). Jodha cannot trust her husband's words what does that potray to viewer that akbar was not trustworthy person to his own family to his own wife.
Now that was fine if akbar was not a historical person which he is not. Although the makers give disclaimer that this is not relevant to any person living or dead they have named it jodha-akbar because major incidents are what happened to emperor akbar and princess jodha. So there it starts making impression on his character.
Jodha has a major misconception that marriage and love is all physicality and a young man just out of teenage(he must be 20 now in serial) looking at his wife lovingly and remebering their interactions is also like voilating her. This is not looking good potrayal of an everlasting love story. Jodha may not want jalal as her husband to have any relationship but for the world(including viewers) she is his wife. As a wife she cannot give those fearful, scared as if being voilated by some abuser kind of looks. And this after he gave away his favourite childhood fort as gift to sukanya so that she stays happy in her married life thats not at all right. Now what should he do for her to treat him with basic human respect and dignity give away his crown to her family or in laws or give up his life(which he already risked majorly in bhaag incident to save her)
Please make this love story like the movie where Ash and Hrithik were never physical but they were cordial, regal and friends. Do not turn this show into one more man lusting after girl and girl scared for life but finally succumbs. This involves society pressure and family pressure and out of compulsion not love.
Please do not spoil Jalal's image by such a potrayal. Jodha s anyway looking akward and bad but Jalal has now started looking bad too. You cannot spoil an historical figures character potraying so. Yes Akbar was not a love struck Prince Salim who would go to war for having his love torn apart by royal compulsions or an Prithviraj Chauhan who would take lasing enemity with a father in law that led to his death.
But the world knows he loved children and treated at least his principal wives(including jodha) caringly as amply evident by the palaces he built for them or help he did to jodha's family treating them on par with his family members which was not the case of muslim rulers of delhi till that time. So please do not spoil that image of a caring patriach who not only treated wives as family but their relatives also like family with respect.
And this Akbar was very young, a emperor just out of teenage he will definetly be naive, vulnerable and nervous just like jodha is at the moment. Because first time he or anyone in his family have married a hindu princess. He is not sure of her culture, her likes/dislike and most important her language interaction. So he also needs time to know her and is as unsure about her as she is of his motives and intentions. Hence the way its being potrayed is making him more of a villan than an hero which is not right. And the agressive haughty and no gratitude princess jodha looks like a vamp(did not know what other name to give) villaness herself. Atleast Jalal acts royal majority of time ignoring her barbs jodha just does not match her actions to a royal of the 16th century.
Here is what i think an emperor akbar would do if his wife misbehaved or ignored and be scared of his presence in her room
1) He would not go to her palace(room) at all and ignore her
2) Avoid any arguments or akward moments(an emperor cannot be seen as road romeo) by walking off from such situations
3) Not go to her mayka, he married her in a village near ajmer(real akbar never went to amer- no records exist that he went to amer ever, when jodha was once sent to mayka there was uproar in mughal courts, there was also uproar when daniyal was sent to be brought up in amer)
4) Allow her to accept him, yes he would may be see her-watch her while she goes about her task around him but not smile for sure as he knows she may take offence and think something else of his smile(emperor's smile is valuable, and akbar was an expert at hidding his real emotions as per chroniclers)
Going by my thinking of Akbar's personality he would never break his promise and sleep with her like it was shown yesterday only to add misunderstanding. Better way to resolve that scene would have been by goiving her hot water massage by maids and a bit of wine which would get her body to normal tempretature. Jalal should have arranged for that and left it at that may be sit by her bedside to check on her that is it. That would be his true love for her and cleared many misunderstandings and made jodha respect him if not love.
And remember this is Akbar who by the time he married jodha had 3 other wives and many cocubbines etc. Jodha must have had some special quality that he loved her this jodha is not that one. An emperor like jalal will show no patience to an haughty woman in 16th century.Lakhs of woman would be vying for his attention so that they get power and position thu him. Real akbar will just relegate her to a paper wall of his agra fort or send her off.
I thought i will watch a royal 16th century sophisticated regal romance with politics and family affairst of akbar thrown in. But this looks like 1990s hindi movie guy running after girl, girl misbehaving royally, boy changing his complete dna for girl, finally girl likes him for changing his dna for her and risking his life ample times for her by then viewer respect for both is nil. True love is accepting an human as he is jodha begum and making him a better person not changing his dna and making him mirror copy of you or your dream man etc. Every person has to be as he wants to be cannot be forced to be like his wife, children, parents etc want though they can change for better. Akbra has started looking more like jehangir and jodha like nur jahan to me.

Agree with you 100%. I will quote what loveanime posted on Meghna's thread.

The first part of the show was so well executed I wonder if the director lost his brains in the second half. I must say Rajat is a brilliant actor, there is a fire in his angry scenes, it blazes across the scene, it is a class apart and I cant praise him enough for his commanding screen presence. The way he threw down the sword just amazing such style with that signature smirk of his and transitioned into that sincere tone with Sukanya and ending with that proud satisfaction on his face, it is game set match for him, that 5 minutes was the whole show nothing else mattered after that. Take a bow Jalal the best sequence in the show so far, even if he kept the fort, he still would have been in the right, but by gifting it to Sukanya he made us all speechless.

Rajat plays akbar's authority, anger, leadership, cunning, bravery and even his naughtiness so magnanimously that anything else that takes him down a notch is not good enough. I don't like romantic jalal this is the first time we have seen him genuinely romantic and it almost felt like he was begging diminishing his stature it made me cringe. It is even more distasteful when he is bowing down for a woman who is not worth it. How aptly he said he doesn't give anything away to anyone if they don't deserve it including love, I wonder what Jodha has done to deserve his love.

Jodha character is continuing on its downward spiral, whereas Jalal is on a steady upwards climb towards Akbar the great. It makes you wonder what does he need Jodha for she is not helping him at all. Oh right I forgot he wants love in his life, hmmm with the way Jodha character is written she is not worthy a life partner to understand the demands of him. Jodha is a perfect example for pride comes before a fall. I have to add that when Jalal was pleading with Jodha to come inside and she insists she knows where her jagga is I was chuckling what a duffod. Her king is telling her she is a queen, but her retort is no I am going to sit under a tree like a bikhari and freeze to death. Oh my dear misguided Jodha it is not your husband who doesn't respect you or your state, it is you who diminish yourself repeatedly with your unregal like behavior. I am debating whether this makes Jalal look worst or great, worst because he chose to love such a woman who is more of a liability for him than a strength, or great because love is truly blind amen.

Forget love how about she start being decent. The man who has no heart has more honor, patience, courage and strength in character on his finger tips. He is technically 16th century leader of the free world. She doesn't love him fine, but she needs to respect his position. The only reason she is getting away with anything is because he allows it, why does 16th century princess not get that. The fact that Jodha doesn't realize that pisses me off, writers can't write Jodha as a 21st century premadona

and what I have posted else where 😑

he second half of the epi left a bitter taste in my mouth. Everyone treating Jalal like a S** maniac?
What the hell.. the purdah girana scene wasn't charming as well. They could have fought about something else entirely.. After all this, it is Jodha who should be affected..Not Jalal.. what does she do this time other than sleep on the bed and look pretty. He is not the only one attracted to her. The ashobhniye vhywhaar lecture was enough once. But it was enjoyable because of the conversation later. Plus, Jalal has so many women.. and he doesn't even look at them.. I want jalal to ignore jodha for a week or two.

There is a way to show 'love'. It could have been charming.. but it just looked cheap.

It further gives the impression that she thinks she is like the most beautiful woman on earth or something. She is not even the most beautiful woman in harem (as pointed out by Maham herself). Plus, she knows very well that he NEVER goes back on his WORD.. So why this OTT drama.. She cannot treat her emperor husband like this.. No.

and jodha is more than comfortable with him, asking him to take off his clothes.πŸ˜†

There is NO such portrayal of Jalal's & neither the makers or Rajat are conveying that!!!

Jalal very very clearly only plays with Jodha. He has absolutely no intention to consummate their marriage & everybody knows that.

If he actually wanted to, it would've been easy as pie. And Jodha couldn't have protested beyond a point. But then she wouldn't have fallen in love with him.

And even Jalal has consciously realised now that for Jodha to care for him, is for some absurd reason, highly important to him.

Jalal just isn't the sort of man who would run after a woman who keeps screaming about how much she just doesn't want him.

Jodha should not forget that, there are women more beautiful than her who Jalal doesn't even look at. Then why, why does he treat me absolutely differently than all of them, even his childhood friend & Chief queen- Ruqaiyya begum?

But she doesn't have an iota of sense when it comes to Jalal, so she continues behaving the way she does. 😑

No I think she is actually the most beautiful woman in the harem.

Maham & Ruqaiyya keep saying that because they're crazily jealous.

But she certainly isn't the most beautiful woman in Hindustaan so she really really should get over herself!!

I would have enjoed the scene had she done or said something that made him like her, like the poetry she wrote for his unborn child... or the way she talked to him after the swordfight. This is charming.. What the hell was that?

What bothers me the most,is the fact that she makes a big deal out of petty issues.
And it was understandable if it happend on a daily basis. But she does it on alternative days.

The thing is sometimes she is 'okay' with him touching her, sometimes she is not.
Now,all of us no,that they had crossed the touch barrier, long before.

They have touched each other before. Then why the drama?

I mean what had he touched anyway? Her cheek? ooohh Big deal! 😳

Anyway,I cant wait to see today's epi!

The makers are clearly obsessed with the movie. πŸ˜†
But in the movie, there wasn't a back-log of intense hatred. ARB's Jodha was very against this marriage because Jalal is a Mughal & absolutely different from her & her people. He is her enemy. Her mother even gives her poison to carry with her to her sasuraal.

Jalal wasn't even against her but was very very warm to her. Esp after he saw her & realised how stunningly beautiful & ethereal his wife is. πŸ˜†

But he fell in deep love with her because of her simplicity, humility & her Rajputana arrogance.

ARB's Jodha I've a feeling, is much much closer to the real Jodha. 😳

this is supposed to be an epic love story told in a regal way..i don't see any of thatπŸ€ͺ..a few leg pulling here and there, teasing bhi chalega..but what did they show today..a husband sitting on wife's bed, just got his hand accidentally under wife's cheek and look what the wife had to say...make the husband look like a pervert and a rapist!!! a shahenshah of those times could get any woman he wanted, a wife talking like that would have been blown into pieces by now! jalal u r a man and an honorable emperor, do not let a woman treat u like that..and jodha being the wife to the emperor should be dignified and cordial and behave like a queen and not like a spoilt teenager who fights with the parents and runs away from home!!!
