All Rajput princess were converted to muslims after marriage(yes its true, they followed both muslim religion and hindu culture together). They had a Rajput hindu name and a Mughal muslim name and were known in court book chronical by their muslim names only. So she is jodha bai known as taj bilqis mariam makhani the mother of khurram the future emperor.
I know the show is showing that the hindu wives were not forced to convert etc but it was true that they were married in islamic tradition and hence first converted to islam and married. But they followed hindu faith and culture within their palace.

As far as I know there isn't much to conversion.. one has to accept Allah and his prophet.it was only done so that the marriage is legal in Islam... and idol worship is forbidden in Islam.. But Akbar's wife anyways practiced hinduism..

So my guess is, the conversion part was to make some people happy.. while being allowed to practice other religion was to keep the rajputs happy.

Although, the children would be brought up as muslims..

Yes you are right
Mughals were modern in thinking
So for sake of marriage their Rajput wives converted to Islam and also in public were known by muslim names and followed mughal customs outside
But inside their palace and house they worshipped their hindu Gods and followed hindu traditions. And kids followed fathers religion publicly but again inside palace were free to participate in puja's and hindu festivals of their mothers. So kids had best of both religions and cultures but when in outside world they followed dad's religion. Because in jehangirnama jehangir says he attended his wives puja and she tied sacred thread on his hand on some festival and his sisters tied him rakhi etc and best part jehangir did not have own sisters they came from his step mothers who were muslims still the three of them tied him rakhi on that festival
This is what happens even today in 21st century majority times if a husband and wife are of different religion wife will convert to husband religion because she lives in husbands family and has to be accepted there but will follow her religion in privacy of house and children follow father's religion.
I have one doubt in film Jodha Akbar they show Akbar -Jodha doing phera's. So did he marry in hindu tradition too really? or bollywood interpretation

In the serial too they showed the same thing.

I think for the marriage to be acceptable in both familes.. they married both ways.. otherwise.. won't it be just like handing over their daughter without marriage to the mughals for tje rajputs?

Yes, he banned cousin marriages because he felt a husband-wife relation cannot develop between cousins. And not only that children born of such unions are deformed or waek hence he felt they should be banned.
Akbar never had children from both his cousins. In akbarnama it says Rukaiya was childless always and Murad was not Salima's son as mentioned in some places. So may be Akbar just married them and never had husband-wife relation with them? That is speculated by few historians

Myth about Akbar banning mughal princess marriages
There is no concrete evidence that Akbar banned mughal princess weddings.May be he was not for wedding outside the royal family.
Jahangir's daugter Bihar Banu Begum was married to Daniyals son(Akbars 3rd son) Prince Tahmuras in the 20th year of Jahangirs reign after Akbar death(Tuzuki Hadi's continuation pg 400).
Even Aurangazebs daughters were only married to thier cousin within the royal family.
Only Shahjahans daughters remained unmarried because he killed all the male members of the royal family except his sons.
Akbar was an affectionate father and grandfather which is revealed in Akbarnama and Jahangirnama.
Akbar married his sister Bakshi Banu Begum to Sharufuddin hussain (belonging to timur lineage-Akbarnama) and his eldest daughter Shahzada Kanam to Mofazar Khan(his uncle Kamrans grandson). His second daughter Shakaru-i-n-nisa was married to Sharukh Mirza and had a happy life.
His 3rd unmarried daughter Aram Banu Begum was left under the care of Jahangir.Akbars affection towards her is very much revealed in Tuzuk-i-jahangiri.
Akbars 1st grand daughter Sultan Nissar Begum (Jahangir daughter and Khushrao own sister) had a tomb constructed forn her at khushrao bagh. But she changed her decision later and she was buried in Akbar's tomb at Sikander at her own request. She was not interested in getting buried near her own father. She never married because of Khusrau rebellion and favouritism of Jehangir towards Nur Jahan and her family members. I guess no one bothered to get her married.
Akbars 2 daughters were buried in his tomb at thier own will. This shows the affection they had for Akbar.Jehangir's daughter's are also buried next to her grandfather Akbar as per their will.
The ban was a rumour among the lower masses in Shahjahans times when only Jahanara and Roshnara Begum were prominent. It was the sin committed by Shahjahan that made his daughters remain unmarried.
Note: Akbar seems to be a great father and grandfather to his daughter and grand daughters that many of them wanted to be buried next to him. Two of his daughters and two of Jehangir's(Jehangir had only 2 own daughters) were buried in akbar tomb as per their wish. Isn't it thoughtful to know that Jehangir's daughters(both) did not want to be buried with their father? And neither did Shah Jahan's daughters want to be buried with their father?
Shows that both Jehangir and Shah Jahan did not bother about their daughters welfare or care for them like a father should do !!!!!!!!!!! Jehangir only bothered about Nur Jahan and her family(although she was not mother of his children) and Shah Jahan killed all male members of roayl family thus not leaving any grooms for his daughters. I think Auragnzeb is better he married Dara Sukoh's son to his daughter(Jahanara convinced Dara Sukoh son to marry) and Dara Sukoh's daughter(who was just 5 years old when her dad was murdered) was married off to Aurgangzeb son Azam Shah who became next emperor.

Yes,
He banned it and also made regulation of having only one wife... 2nd marriage was permitted only when 1st was deceased or was childless...😊 He was the 1st to have banned Sati-daah in Hindus too...
