KKR vs DC: Top five player battles to watch out for
1. Sunil Narine vs Khaleel Ahmad
Sunil Narine has become a headache for opposition bowlers this season, and he smashed a 39-ball 85 against DC last time they clashed with each other. DC need someone to knock him over early, or else it will be carnage once again. Khaleel Ahmed has troubled him in the past with his swing and line. He has dismissed Narine twice in 16 balls in the IPL and conceded 26 runs. These two will be up against each other in the powerplay.
2. Phil Salt vs Lizard Williams
Phil Salt was part of Delhi Capitals last season and did a pretty decent job, but this season he has been incredible at the top for KKR. Salt has been unstoppable at the top and has always been in approach to take the game away from opposition in the powerplay itself. However, DC introduced their fast bowler Lizaad Williams in their last game against Mumbai Indians, and he bowled quick. He can be very difficult to handle, and against Salt, it will be a good battle to watch out for.
3. Andre Russell vs Kuldeep Yadav
Andre Russell will be a massive wicket with his ability to win games in any situation. He will be crucial for KKR in case the top order fails. He can smash any bowler on his day. However, DC have someone who has bowled well against him. It is Kuldeep Yadav, who played for KKR for a few seasons. Kuldeep missed the last game against KKR, but will be looking to bowl against his former team. He has already dismissed Russell once in ten balls by giving away just four runs.
4. Rishabh Pant vs Varun Chakravarthy
Rishabh Pant has been in red-hot form and has scored almost 400 runs this season. He has been unstoppable in the last few overs, which has pushed DC to reach some big totals, but his numbers against Varun Chakravarthy are not good. The spinner had a poor last game, but that won’t be the case in every game. Varun has dismissed Pant two times in 26 balls in the IPL, and Pant has scored only 27 runs at a strike rate of 103.8.
5. Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Sunil Narine
Jake Fraser-McGurk has been a revolution for DC this season. His quick starts have benefited his team a lot. He has batted against Rashid Khan, Trent Boult, and Jasprit Bumrah, and now he will be facing Sunil Narine, who has been the most economical bowler this season. That will be a mouth-watering contest. Jake will play his shots, but it won’t be easy to pick Narine.
