Rajasthan Royals have 12 points in as many games, Royal Challengers Bangalore have 10 in 11 matches. A win for either side, thus, would tilt the scales considerably in their favour. A loss and they might be left praying for other results to go their way.
RR, after they were on the wrong side of a last-ball heist against Sunrisers Hyderabad, got back to winning ways on Thursday, with Yashasvi Jaiswal powering them to a resounding victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Sanju Samson also stroked his way into form, and RR would hope that that pair, alongside Jos Buttler, can hit their straps against RCB too.
Speaking of RCB, well, they have now lost twice in succession after that high-voltage win against the Lucknow Super Giants. On both occasions, they put up 180-plus totals on the board, only to find out that they were comfortably short both times.
At the start of their campaign, they quite enjoyed defending totals, especially in day games and away fixtures. Now that their campaign is seemingly at a crossroad, they would want to rekindle some of that magic against RR. Not just because RCB have reached last-chance saloon, but also because a win would take RR's destiny out of their own hands.
โWe have two more quarter-finals to play, the pressure is never off in the IPL,โ said Sanju Samson after that thumping win against KKR in the previous game. We are at a stage now in the IPL where every game can give a franchise a push up or a jolt down in that race to the playoffs. Today, the winner gets a big push towards top four while the loser can figuratively back their bags with a defeat today. Such are the stakes of the competition.

The last time these sides met, RCB, riding on fifties by Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell (who else), posted 189 - a total that they ultimately defended, winning by seven runs. That was an afternoon game too, although expect Jaipur to be much hotter than Bengaluru was in April.
Why they are not playing Padikkal especially against RCB
Root - will he pull off T20 format or waste balls ? ๐ค
Weโre back at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium today which hasnโt be a very friendly host to RR, with Sanju Samsonโs side losing all but one of their games there. The wicket has either turned quite a bit or been two-paced, not the easiest to bat on. Two very top-heavy sides fight each other in todayโs clash, will Jaiswal, Buttler and Sanju reign supreme or will it be Kohli, Faf and Maxiโs day to shine? Stick around for the pitch report and team newsโฆ

Root bowled well in the previous match. He didn't get a chance to bat as Jaiswal took care of the batting part.

But Paddikal is better choice for batting
they can always take him as sub
Zampa is better than Root
Pitch Report: We are on pitch number 5 at the SMS Stadium, this is the centre pitch and expected to be really good. In terms of dimensions, the straight boundaries are longer at 78m while the square boundaries are 66m. There was some cloud cover in the morning but that has disappeared. Second time this pitch is being used after the RRvCSK game, There were runs in that and it will be high scoring again. The pitch looks hard, with some cracks and grass in the middle. It is however a day game and the ball might slow up a bit due to the heat. Both teams would like to bat first, they have won four games each while batting first, opine WV Raman and Simon Katich.
